She's committed a tone crime, should really watch her step and know her place.

Tone crime is serious! David Tennant hates Kemi's tone so much that he thinks she should be unexisted.

Seriously if KJK said something homophobic I’d really like to know what that is. If someone can tell me what it is she actually said, that would be helpful.

Ofocurse cis is offensive to women who have a scientific, materialist definition of sex rather than a bunch of stereotypes as a guide as to whether they are a woman or not. I don’t need to identify as a woman I AM a woman. Cis assumes I sign up to gender ideology which is inherently misogynistic. I get why a man can’t understand that though.

You'll never get an honest answer on the KJK homophobia accusations, I mean there's a million quid for anyone who can prove JKR is transphobic which remains unclaimed.

eurochick · 28/06/2024 07:12

Well they are proving the fifth bullet point on that leaflet is true if nothing else. While looking up definitions someone should do irony.

Isn't it the same police force who threatened her with arrest for using the word castration?

I wish people wouldn't make those statements on here. You know it will be put through the trans language mangle and that by teatime it will be "truth" that she threatened them with castration!

It was Susie green who complained to the police that KJK used the word castration to describe the fare more cutesy and euphemistic 'bottom surgery' of Jackie Green.

KJK was threatened with arrest for describing it thus.

Which is exactly what she's talking about in point 5 of her leaflet!

It's 'untoward about paedophiles' all over again.

@TheCultureHusks lovely beach Troon. Used to go when I had two dogs. They used to run about mad .

I've never heard of the term. What does it mean and who does it insult?

WickedSerious · 28/06/2024 07:54

There'a actually something called 'Hatepedia'?

Ring the bells and wake the children, the end times are upon us.

CassieMaddox · 28/06/2024 07:58

There's two issues here. One is whether the candidate is making slurs.
The other is whether the police are preventing a political candidate from distributing approved electoral pamphlets.
The first would normally be a case for the media, the party and potentially the police if it constituted a crime.
The second is incredibly serious and undermines democratic process. The police should not be involving themselves in elections. And yes, this applies to all candidates whether we like them or not.
If there was a 'trans rights party' and the police threatened their candidates for handing out approved leaflets, then finally a TRA and I would have something to agree on. It would be completely unacceptable.
The police have no place trying to prevent political candidates carrying out legal campaigning. None.

There's potentially a third, which is the candidate was using the leaflets as part of harassment. Noone is above the law, so if she was doing that she will get arrested

midgetastic · 28/06/2024 08:01

How do you harness someone with a leaflet ?

Waft it under their nose in an aggressive manner ?

borntobequiet · 28/06/2024 08:01

Very old Latin prefix

Tell me you’re uneducated without telling me etc.

If the leaflet has been judged acceptable by the electoral commission how could it be used as part of harassment?
Did posy parker just invent Schrödinger's election pamphlet?

Theunamedcat · 28/06/2024 06:24

Wtf is a Troon?

It is a very old Pictish word meaning ‘nose’ or ‘cape’.

midgetastic · 28/06/2024 08:04

Perhaps we can agree not to say castration or bottom surgery but spell it out in detail

The removal of all male sexual organs

Topofthemountain · 28/06/2024 08:06

We can't have a situation where people are able to complain to the police because they don't like words on an election leaflet. The police would get nothing else done.

However if the individual concerned (general) is making -phobic remarks then that needs to be dealt with. The use of the word troon, given the context of the situation, was very unwise.

Sloejelly · 28/06/2024 08:09

Just to be clear, the courts agreed calling a transwoman a ‘pig in a wig’ though offensive was not an offence.

Igneococcus · 28/06/2024 08:14

Very old Latin prefix

Isn't everything Latin old?
I've been a biologist for a bit over 30 years now and no, we didn't use cisgender back then or even now, even gender only sneaked in recently and mostly via Americans/Canadians.

Troon:

Portmanteau of the words "Transgender" and "Goon", signifying/accusatory term to denote, mostly male individuals, that appropriate the Transgender identity in order to shield themselves from criticism or past bad/criminal behaviour.

Yeah quite. Her twitter might get her in a bit of trouble too. Very unwise.

I always thought it was loon
So slightly ablist as well as anti trans.
I don't find it particularly offensive in itself but anyone who uses it has been hanging out in anti-trans places (like KF) so I'll assume they are anti trans instead of pro woman.

And I bet that never happens.

CormorantStrikesBack · 28/06/2024 08:43

I’ve never heard the term Troon before and have no idea what it means. I do agree though that people should not be using slurs, especially not candidates. It’s hardly professional. Prior to this it sounds like she was in the right, nothing wrong with the leaflet so it’s a malicious complaint which the police shouldn’t have acted on. So shame that she’s descended into nastiness so quickly. That sort of attitude will turn people off.

Sloejelly · 28/06/2024 08:46

Loon: Doric word meaning ‘boy’
