I'm getting 'Page doesn't exist'.

CassieMaddox · 27/06/2024 09:46

Oh annoying. Let me see if I can find it somewhere else

I'm not voting Labour so 🤷🏻‍♀️. I also don't think there are bigger issues than the rights of women and girls which covers a massive range. I'm not interested in (non-) virtue-signalling to impress the beardyleftydudebros who have decided what's important, obviously this includes niche non-issues but never half the population. We shouldn't have a fit of the vapours at the transgressive idea of putting ourselves first for once.

Gofastboatsmojito · 27/06/2024 09:49

It works fine for me

Maybe you should listen to what she has to say? It certainly isn't "(non-) virtue-signalling to impress the beardyleftydudebros"

What are the bigger issues that are more important than me and who decided what they are? The rhetoric is actually straight from the neo-Thatcherite leftybeardydudebros current playbook. And she's not out to impress me is she? I'm clearly a minor thing. Anyway, she's an normal person and her vote doesn't outweigh anyone else's. It's just a shame I'll pay the price for it.

bloodynewusernameagain · 27/06/2024 09:59

Thanks for this. My labour candidate has ignored all my emails (except the one i sent from a different account -accidentally- to ask if my emails weren't being recieved) despite being in a seat which is extremely close this time. This interview has helped me feel less aggrieved...a bit...I was in two minds about spoiling my vote.

minsmum · 27/06/2024 10:02

Kathleen Stock can decide what's important for her, as she should and the rest of us can decide what's important for us.
I don't understand this trend that says we all need to follow some well known persons lead. My vote my choice

AlisonDonut · 27/06/2024 10:05

There's alot of Starmer Stans around these days.

JurassicClark · 27/06/2024 10:06

I am also holding my nose and voting Labour.

This is because I think to be disabled, poor, unemployed, an immigrant, a refugee, employed in a school or an NHS facility, young, living in rented accommodation or be awaiting treatment on the NHS will mean you’ll be much worse off under the Conservatives.

Our shitty political system means votes for smaller parties are wasted so in my constituency it’s either Tories or Labour.

I will continue pressuring Labour and working towards changing their policies on women’s rights. I’m not happy to vote for them, but it’s that or spoil my ballot.

Todaywasbetter · 27/06/2024 10:09

I loved everything that she said it sums up what I’ve been thinking in a clear concise manner so logical.

I agree
safe spaces also affects young teen girls and children also
It’s a big deal and It’s a total deal breaker
Kier starmer has messed right up
Even Rachel reeves couldn’t describe a woman on her interview with LBC

That in power ? Not thanks very much
Trans people of course have rights to toilets but they will have to be assigned unisex because this sharing toilets problem is open to so much abuse from wronguns who will just take advantage.

All other parties are absolutely desperate and they are twisting their own beliefs and principles to try and hook you in - don’t fall for their con

HelenaWaiting · 27/06/2024 10:22

I'm mindful of the fact that there are certain individuals using this issue as leverage to shore up the Tory vote. I also want to point out that anyone who suggests that you should spoil your vote is giving terrible advice. You aren't registering a protest vote by spoiling the ballot paper, even if you think you are.

AudHvamm · 27/06/2024 10:24

Thank you for sharing. I think for those of us who feel conflicted and perhaps don't have people IRL to debate this with, it is useful to hear opinions from people who are having this conversation in the public realm.

TempestTost · 27/06/2024 10:26

I can't see it either.

Anyone want to explain her reasoning?

I don't really get the whole,, Labour is going to fix things that the Tories have messed up. Like, how? What? Their economic platform is basically identical, they have no more money than the Tories do.

'Other parties?' Do you mean you think Labour isn't doing that too? I'm making my own mind up here, not outsourcing my thinking to Stock (a bad idea at the best of times).

How do you register a protest vote if you don't agree with any of the candidates' positions? I'm all ears

I think this is a fair point. I also remember Rachel Reeves during the massive fuel crisis trumpeting about how Labour would give everyone the grand total of around £90 each to help with the cost while the Tories (the Tories!) gave the disabled people I care for £thousands, keeping them warm and possibly and thankfully in some cases still alive. There's a big difference between the comforting stories we tell ourselves to justify our own prejudices and the reality of what goes on.

I'd better qualify this by mentioning I'm not voting Tory either before some get overexcited and start frothing about Tory HQ as if there isn't more Labour HQ around. I'd prefer new political parties worthy of the name.

Floisme · 27/06/2024 10:44

I'll be voting for an independent candidate.

I think all anyone can do is make the best choice they can out of this absolute dog's breakfast of a fuck up. No lectures from me.

I would however appreciate the same courtesy in return.

“Progressive” parties can happily ignore women’s rights issues because “progressive” women always, absolutely always fall into line at the crunch. It was always and will always be thus.

PronounssheRa · 27/06/2024 10:49

I respect Kathleen's right to vote however she chooses.

My worry is a vote for Labour will make them think that their twisting, turning, inconsistent and incoherent position on women rights is acceptable. It's not acceptable to me.

If Labour wouldn't meet with women's groups while in opposition what makes anyone think they will when in power.

I'm voting for an independent

CassieMaddox · 27/06/2024 10:54

I agree with her that Labour are trying to edge back across the bridge and they should just jump.

What I like about it is her clearly explaining her thought process about what she objects to but why she is still voting Labour. It's nice to have a more public person doing it in words and I found it quite validating of my own position so I thought others might too

OP posts:
sashagabadon · 27/06/2024 10:54

She can obviously vote anyway she wishes but it is odd to vote for a party that will make the issue she literally found so important she lost her job over worse. I don’t quite understand how an issue can be both so important it impacts your life but yet not so important it impacts your vote
