It’s not about ‘losing the wedge issue’, it’s about really listening to what senior labour politicians say, and carefully reading their manifesto.
There is no commitment to women’s rights, not even a commitment to fully acting on the Cass review to protect children.
You are correct that this fight will continue after the election, but the Labour Party look set to change legislation which will dismantle the case law we have been building. This won’t just mean ‘toilets’ - this is about eg:
being free to express a GC opinion - and eg not be fired or arrested for it
being able to request a same-sex HCP, and still get healthcare
parents being allowed to not immediately affirm their gender-questioning children, and being able to demand the same of their school
allowing counselling and cognitive exploration of gender (conversion therapy 🙄)
Of course people have to balance the impact of their vote in the round, but if you’re banking on women’s rights and child safeguarding being protected under labour, you need to consider very carefully why you think that
