Total derail, but Dawn's Gay Giraffes would be an awesome name for a band. Or a fairground ride.

Taylor who? I'm off to see DGG!

Interesting that Dawn Butler thinks it’s fine for a white male to tell a black female to shut up, because Butler is paid to promote certain views doesn’t agree with her views. I wonder why Butler would think it was ok to highlight Badenoch’s race in this? Has she also told white men (eg Glinner) to shut up?

Did I miss the memo about sexism and racism being acceptable in support of the special religion?

Butler thinks it's OK for a white man to say that a Black woman shouldn't exist because of her support for women's and girl's rights. Not just shut up, but not exist.

Don't be surprised when white men turn on you, Dawn.

ResisterRex · 27/06/2024 17:08

That's some incredible giffing @Clabony 🤣

You didn't miss the memo but both sexism and racism are acceptable in support of this new religion, yes.

This is going to be disastrous. "Spousal veto" removed, Lords stacked (um they're already majority crossbenchers and hardly did the Tories' bidding?), "inclusive conversion therapy ban", de facto marriage (which will also usher in the worst outcomes for women and children in certain religious denominations), not implementing Cass in full, reversal of gender questioning guidance, and then what will come down the track on KSCIE, and what will happen with the stayed CPS consultation on sex by deception..?

This will be the worst assault on women and children in this country, in living memory. I cannot vote for them. I will not vote for them. The damage could take well beyond my lifetime to put right. I cannot enable them.

They also intend screwing up the education system with more skills and less knowledge.

duc748 · 27/06/2024 17:48

more skills and less knowledge.

Like generals who are still fighting the battles of the previous war.

Clabony · 27/06/2024 17:55

My local College used to have this up in one of the staffrooms.

We trained hard—but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganised. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganising, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralisation.

I've seen that quote, it's supposed to date back to the Romans. I don't know if it does, but I bet they were saying something similar regardless.

Clabony · 27/06/2024 18:13

He was a writer and author back in Nero's time Icake.
I always think of it when people start on about reorganising.

Clabony · 27/06/2024 18:33

I really can't bring myself to vote for Ashley Dalton.
Looks like a spoiled vote for me. Lib Dem, Tory or Reform are the alternatives.
I find myself shaking my head while thinking it all over and over.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/06/2024 18:44

I'm trying to resign myself to voting Tory, but, viscerally, I don't know if I've got it in me. 'It'll be a new experience' I tell myself. It's helpful that the Labour candidate hasn't replied to my email, although there's time yet. The LDs are lost to the woo regardless of their candidate's personal view, he's likely to win the seat though.

Clabony · 27/06/2024 18:57

My Tory candidate is a really decent bloke tbh Icake thinking over what you have said. Looking at things from a local level I think he's the better candidate than the woo woman who won't write her woo on her local leaflet .
If I vote for him then she will still get in, but one vote less.
Dither dither dither.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/06/2024 19:42

I think we're in the same boat. My MP is (was?) Tory and she wrote me a letter confirming Tory support for single sex spaces, belt and braces constituency MP-type, will never be a high-flyer. Unless she does survive and she might be shadow everything from lack of options. That makes it slightly easier. My 'be kind' sprogs are both voting in their first elections. I'm trying to influence them to vote Green (heh, heh!). Then their votes will be safely wasted. I'm telling them they'll save the Green candidate's deposit, which they might. Feck knows with all these court cases the Greens might need every penny.

I think your Greeness is very public spirited indeed. you deserve an award for your great thinking.
I'm going to go with the local person for local people who actually has done a lot for around here, despite his Party. Dont tell anyone😉

Starmer has doubled down this morning in his radio 5 interview. He has absolutely no problem with giving away women’s rights.

CaveMum · 28/06/2024 12:38

And also John Swinney has said he wants to bring up the Scottish Gender Recognition Reform Bill with Labour “if” it comes into power.

They’re hoping their mates in Labour will let them pass it with a smile and a wave.

Thread here from Jane who put KS on the spot so effectively on Five Live earlier. And yes, he all but says he counts men with a GRC as women, and cites the existence of the GRA as reason to do so.

I'm asking Keir a question about women's rights on 5 live - how to phrase it? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/feminism/5107115-im-m-asking-kier-a-question-about-womens-rights-on-5-live-how-to-phrase-it

Well, Sarwar thinks Labour will work with the SNP on gender laws.

Anas Sarwar: A Labour government would work with SNP on gender laws

The Scottish Labour leader said any new legislation needed to be ‘road tested’ so it did not conflict with the Equality Act

Ostensibly a review of Susanna Rustin's 'Sexed', but uses that to frame a bigger picture and see right through the Labour party.
