Just let women speak

Still trying to silence women.

It won't work, lads.

You can try and shame us and smear us and tick us off. You can threaten us and abuse us and try to intimidate us. Sirens and smoke bombs and scoldings.

It doesn't work.

We won't wheesht.

JK Rowling won't 'pipe down'.

KJK won't be quiet.

Rosie Duffield won't be quiet.

None of us are going anywhere, and the more you attack us and try to stop women from speaking, the more clearly you reveal your own misogyny.

Well done to the brave women standing calmly in the face of all that aggressive noisemaking and continuing to speak.

Both sides, eh? Toxic debate, my arse.

This is public terrorism of women, by men, while police stand by. That's all.

The footage posted on Twitter of aggressive masked men is awful.

And those men think they’re progressive?

I felt very much like this at the Birmingham meet, no police in attendance - it felt like it was deliberate, it was very scary.

the ball gobbler

Do you mind? Some of us are eating our tea! 😜Why the hell they can't keep him in a cell I don't know.

I also saw 'knacker snacker' on X. I shouldn't laugh, really.

IwantToRetire · 23/06/2024 21:47

Much, much, much as I admire JKR and her recent article that has put Starmer in the spotlight, we really need the media to be reporting this. What is actually happening to women when they do try to speak.

As always behind the hatred of TRAs is the long established misyogyny of the MRAs.

What other group of people in the UK, having a public but peacefull event, would be expected to put up with this active hostility.

Yes please go on asking Starmer and the rest, does he know what a woman is, but the media should also be highlighting how the disrepect of women is now turning into threats and violence.

Disgusted with politicians, and disgusted with the media.

This is the reality of unbridled support for the TRA agenda.

Respectfully, this has all happened on the Tory's watch! Labour haven't been in power since 2010. If the Tories cared so much they'd have done stuff in the kast five years rather than squirmed and ignored and then chucked some stuff in a manifesto when they know they have no chance of being reelected.

I don't blame you for being a single issue voter about this but surely you can acknowledge there are many other issues, including many which disproportionately affect women, which yet more Tory rule would be catastrophic for.

Labour introduced the GE.
No one could ever know it would be taken advantage of the way it has.
This is all new.
If Labour were in power it would have happened under them as well.
Only the Conservatives however are not taking the Stonewall nonsense.

Dymaxion · 23/06/2024 21:58

Unfortunately ( and as is often the case ) until this issue garners the support of a lot of prominent male allies, I think we are stuffed as far the issue being taken seriously by politicians is concerned.
I think JKR is that rare beast, in that she is so famous, so wealthy, so bloody intelligent and could give so few fucks, that she stands out like a shining beacon, but where are all her male counterparts ?

IwantToRetire · 23/06/2024 22:03

Isn't violence against women in a public place, with police standing round an important issue?

Just shameful.

That no one is speaking out against this.

What it means is that our right to freedom of speech only goes as far as male violence lets it.

Angry

The bullshit in their manifesto about reducing violent crime against women by 50%. Just not this type of violent crime then.

BrownTroutBluesAgain · 23/06/2024 22:07

How incredibly upsetting watching that OP.
Its very telling that one of the organisers in encouraging women to speak actually had to say don’t be scared.
Surely the men surrounding the women should have been pushed back and not allowed to disrupt the event.
The police clearly aren’t there to protect women.

I’m completely speechless.

I hope anyone disgusted by this remembers women have a say at the general election and voting Labour just means more and worse of the same.

SidewaysOtter · 23/06/2024 22:15

And those men think they’re progressive?

They're being kind.

duc748 · 23/06/2024 22:17

Perhaps dear Keir should attend a LWS event and see for himself all the Labour Party supporters and trades unionists, all in their tee shirts, abusing and shouting down women?

for that to work you would somehow have to get his fingers out of his ears whilst he was going "La la la". never going to happen.

duc748 · 23/06/2024 22:27

Oh, for sure. He could be asked about it, though. "Sir Keir, I'm sure you must have seen the footage on SM of women being harassed at LWS events, most recently in Brighton..."

If the Tories cared so much they'd have done stuff in the kast five years rather than squirmed and ignored and then chucked some stuff in a manifesto when they know they have no chance of being reelected.

Respectfully, the reason all this has happened is because of legislation brought in by the last Labour Government - the GRA and EqA both of which are working exactly as Labour intended them to. Have you heard the Labour opposition decrying any of what is happening? Heard KS express any horror at male rapists and sex offenders being placed in the female prison estate? Question the current Government on why that was happening? No, because he knew it would due to the legislation of the last Labour Government and he is proud of those Acts.

The Tories, very belatedly admittedly, woke up. Yes they left it far too late, but at least they have listened, seen the problems and looked at how to correct them.

Labour will not. They have shown they do not care.

These antifa types are not the brightest. Stupid and aggressive; it's not a good combination.

The police should have done far more to protect the women attending the event and standing up to speak.

I will write to the PCC tomorrow.

And although it's taken them far too long to realise, and too many women have suffered under 'hate crime-non crime bollocks', and so many ordinary women have put their hand in their pocket to help 'prove' that women don't have a penis...they are finally, finally openly discussing it in parliament....BUT we are at risk of all that being undone, because Labour haven't done their homework or simply don't give a shit enough about women to recognise the conflict.

My theory is, that deep, deep down men gave us rights, but didn't actually believe we were equal to them really, and too many of them are actually revelling in this current shit show.

They seem to have supported Stonewall happily up to now.

JKR mentions it. Hopefully it means some coverage:

Utter disgrace ! I am so angry this weekend - are they doubling down? Solidarity with all the brave women there ! That violent MAN should be locked back up!

Ramblingnamechanger · 24/06/2024 02:18

The women who spoke had important things to say and managed despite the awful agression going on around. The NHS worker talking about how seriously ill at risk kidney patients were not given private rooms , in favour of these men wanting special privilege was extremely shocking. Thank you to all that were there and hope you are all safe now, no thanks to the large number of police visible at the beginning.

Sickened by the footage of this. Police don’t give a shit and said the TRAs were entitled to ‘freedom of speech’, despite the fact they were screaming in the women’s faces. Such dark times for women.
