Lizzy Pitt needs help with gardening in the usual place if anyone has plants to spare. She is a social worker accused of hate speech for expressing gender critical views, and is being represented by Naomi Cunningham.

Good luck Lizzy!

Will we be able to log in to the ET? Does anyone have the details of how to request access?

Tribunal tweets are applying for permission to live tweet and I think there will be a direct link, I'll put it up when I know what it is

Ramblingnamechanger · 28/06/2024 00:35

As a former social worker I am horrified by the implications of what suppressing views of women like you are having…the be d mantra does not extend to us. I hope you win and will garden shortly. You have great team. Are you in touch wirh Rachel Meade?

Ramblingnamechanger · 28/06/2024 00:35

Be kind…

BreadInCaptivity · 28/06/2024 00:38

We are all rooting for you!!!

Best of luck Lizzy. I can;t believe Cambridgeshire County Council think this is a good use of public money.

I am taking the Council to Court, and I want the process to go all the way, I will not settle unless there is something that makes it impossible to continue. I am doing this to try to stop it continuing for all of us.

Longdarkteatimeofthesoul · 28/06/2024 03:35

Good luck - as a former social worker I too am %100 in your corner!

It's in no way a criticism of you, the Council are deeply irresponsible to get into this position in the first place.

Councils should be ashamed. How dare they spend council tax money which should be spent on services on defending these cases
😡

Good luck Lizzy. I’ve just watered the garden for you 🙏🏻

dougalfromthemagicroundabout · 28/06/2024 07:22

Hi Lizzy, thanks for coming on to say hello! Gardening is contributing to your cause... we're not allowed to directly link to crowdfunders / crowdjustice on here. I'm not quite sure when contributions became 'gardening'.

Thank you so much for fighting this fight. I'm particularly concerned with safeguarding and good to see it mentioned in your case. I don't see how you can have a safeguarding culture if you're not allowed to state the reality of biological sex and expected to lie and only adhere to one ideology.

I also don't think it's good safeguarding to instantly affirm children and refuse to allow discussion about why they might be gender distressed. Which is now backed up by the Cass review. As far as I can see if social workers are not allowed to discuss the reality of biological sex, they can't possibly do their jobs properly.

It also doesn't seem mentally healthy to encourage children to believe they can't be 'safe' unless every single person they encounter pretends that they're something they're not nor that this is even a reasonable demand.

I'll be planting a few bulbs once my paycheck arrives.

highame · 28/06/2024 08:51

Many of you ask 'why are they doing this?'

I think the often used phrase about the process being the punishment is to put people off. The legal process is arduous and those who stick it out are absolute heroes but there will be many who just back down or feel embarrassed about how they have been treated and therefore don't take further steps. Moreover, what about all those who are silenced.

I have a very dismal view of our public services and what's worse, I don't know what the answer is because I assume these cases will keep coming, until we stop using the law to defend our rights. How very sad is all of that.

I hope your team get their legal fees and that eventually someone will be able to pursue a vexatious claim - it's bound to happen at some point.

Good luck

LizzyPitt · 28/06/2024 17:00

@highame I dont blame anybody for not speaking up, I am a robust strong woman, I can tell you that it is so hard, it makes little sense at times. I acted before I was acted on; I was told I could not repeat my perfectly legal views and could be investigated formally if I did. I have a report on my file that calls me transphobic, that CCC have refused to remove despite my own grievance against the grievance against me.

It's very scary to start a legal action and it is a punishing process of many emotions, however, I continue to consider I have done the right thing for myself and for everybody else. A very important part of this action is about people living with this silencing across the public sector and beyond, I hope that my case adds to the other cases and gives more of us tools to change this very damaging ideology We fight on ✊✊.

Thanks for posting. I've planted a small seed. You are really great doing this.

Good luck and thank you!
I popped over for a spot of gardening.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 28/06/2024 17:42

Thank you, I planted earlier this month and will plant again in July.

@Hyperions thank you, I've never in my life done anything like this before, I have been overwhelmed by the number of seeds that have been dropped - thank you 😊

LizzyPitt · 28/06/2024 21:03

@AmaryllisNightAndDay thank you for your kindness, it is much appreciated 😊

JanesLittleGirl · 28/06/2024 22:11

Lizzy needs £13k in 26 days. It's only £500 each day but she will only get it if we all reach down the back of the sofa one more time. The fact that she is represented by the inestimable NC is additional encouragement.

I’ve just planted what I can Lizzy, and wish you all the strength and success. Thanks for standing up to this, you’re a ⭐

YellowDayToday · 28/06/2024 23:44

@LizzyPitt As a fellow social worker I’m appalled and scared to read your story. I’m also angry at our profession which is supposed to be based on supporting all voices and most importantly protecting the vulnerable. And yet…I work in a job that constantly ‘supports’ vulnerable children to go along with the crazy belief that they can change sex, my profession literally bends over backwards to support this, criticising parents who express basic concern about it. I find it also hugely frustrating that as a profession we are supposed to stand for anti-discrimination but somehow find ourselves in a position where we are going along with the lie that the most oppressed are men who state they are women. At the expense of women’s safety and dignity.

Anyway you know all of this….

Good luck and tomorrow I’ll plant some carrots. 🥕

HR teams seem to be taking Stonewall law as the law, a big mistake. I want our social work management to challenge this, starting with SWE-
My case will give further clarity, and there will be somebody after me to carry it on. Its a hard battle, ✊✊and 😘🥕
