Lizzy Pitt needs help with gardening in the usual place if anyone has plants to spare. She is a social worker accused of hate speech for expressing gender critical views, and is being represented by Naomi Cunningham.

Bumpety bump. I just googled Lizzy Pitt and it was the first result.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2024 00:36

Bump and some more context

A social worker manager is taking her local authority to an employment tribunal after being disciplined for expressing gender critical beliefs.

Lizzy Pitt is suing Cambridgeshire County Council, claiming she was victim of harassment and discrimination after making her views public in a workplace LGBTQIA group.

Pitt, who describes herself as “a lesbian who believes that sex is real” was subjected to a group complaint by colleagues.

It resulted in a disciplinary process being initiated by the local authority and formal “management action”.

Pitt said: “The whole process was intensely stressful and humiliating for me. It left me feeling that my colleagues and my employer regarded me as a bigot who could only be tolerated in the workplace if I was forced to keep my beliefs to myself even when they were relevant.”

Assuming that Cambridgeshire County Council isn't entirely captured by tin foil hat nutters, they should/could read the runes and throw in the towel now.

This. Carbon copy of multiple SWD cases with lesbian thrown in for good measure for added persecution points. Surely the council's legal advisers should be telling them to pay up and apologise? They simply cannot believe they can defend this. Against Naomi Cunningham!

you would think so, but as we know by now, we are dealing with people whose grasp on reality is a bit shaky, at best.

I live in Cambridge, sad but not surprised to read about this.
(it gave me some pleasure the other day to tell a local Lib-Dem canvasser exactly why I would not be voting for his party. He had no argument and I got the feeling he was somewhat embarassed by that.)

Hello women. I have just googled myself (something Ive never done before!) and have been suprised to see there has been chat on here!.
Im not great with tech, I joined mumsnet a few monrhs ago tho wasn't confident engaging 🤷
My case has been bought because I've been bullied and harrassed at work in a way that has bought me to action against my employer - who is also my County Council. I'm no soft touch and still cannot believe the way this has played out. I was investigated, silenced and as far as I'm concerned gaslit.
However, it will be for the law to decide.
It's just over a month to Court, I've the most excellent legal team - Liz McGlone and Naomi Cunningham who are both amazing women.
Please do try to get the information from the live court case, it will be very interesting, and as far as I'm concerned really shocking too. Thank you for the support many of you have shown to me 🙏

Midgegreenstreet · 27/06/2024 19:17

Best of luck Lizzy. I can;t believe Cambridgeshire County Council think this is a good use of public money.

biddyboo · 27/06/2024 19:27

Best of luck, Lizzie. Thank you for doing this and I'm sorry you've been treated so appallingly.

Justme56 · 27/06/2024 19:32

Good luck you have a great team. Just read another case (Amelia Sparrow) who is being represented by Liz McGlone against the Liberal Democrat Party - she is certainly very busy and as for Naomi Cunningham she’s an absolute star.

JeannieDark · 27/06/2024 19:36

Good luck Lizzy, you've got a great team and lots of people rooting for you.

No worries Lizzy. I popped over to your Crowdfunder and left a little sommat. I hope you’ll reach your target.

If you want to reply directly to a particular post you can use the 'quote' button to create a reply or if you want to address a particular person you can type the person’s username with an @ in front of it and that sends them a wee notification that someone has mentioned them. Hope this info helps 👍

I really appreciate your kind words, and your support. I do plan to win the case, we shall see. Its difficult to understand that the Forstater ruling is continuing to be ignored by our public sector bodies. While it is we will have to keep fighting

My legal team are exceptional, I'm really lucky to have them. LizMcGlone has won some very impressive cases, she worked the Julie Bindell case in Nottingham, where Julie was barred from the building by the local council and so she held her meeting with women in the car park. Liz was also Denise Fahmey - Arts Council case solicitor, and many more. . She is a formidable woman for sure. And Naomi....
