And equating sexuality with who you like to fuck is homophobic.

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 17:55

YourPinkDog · 01/06/2024 17:51

Except i do know.

Then why did you ask?

Rubidium · 01/06/2024 17:55

commercialised nonsense from companies that dared not show any support 15 years ago.

Are Barclays Bank taking part again this year? They have done in the past. Back in the 1980s when clause 28 was being implemented, same-sex couples had few legal rights if any and gay men were dying of AIDS, Barclays were investing in apartheid-era South Africa.

Sexuality is literally who you like to fuck, its the definition of what sex class you like to fuck.

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 17:57

What is homophobic about that?
unless you think same sex attraction is wrong.

YourPinkDog · 01/06/2024 17:57

@Fariha31 Do you think being straight is simply about who you like to fuck?
Do you think straight couples see their relationship as just about who they like to fuck?
Do we go to weddings to celebrate who someone likes to fuck?
Is that all sexuality and relationships are to you?

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 17:59

As far as their sexuality is concerned yes. If your heterosexual you like to fuck people who are the opposite sex from yourself.

ButterCrackers · 01/06/2024 17:59

Why do businesses have to have pride colours etc? It’s not a commercial issue it’s a private issue.

My relationship is about far more than who I like to fuck.

Sexuality is not a private issue. Straight people tell and show others they are straight all the time.

BreadInCaptivity · 01/06/2024 18:02

Anyone can participate in Pride.

Maybe that's part of the problem?

It's veered so far from its original intent that most of the gay and lesbian people I know give it (and the events) a wide berth as they feel it's not representative of their communities.

Instead it's been co-opted into an opportunity for public displays of fetishism, often from straight people who identify as queer such as furies/adult babies/gimpers (and the 3 letter acronym that cannot be be named).

I think the question is Pride in what exactly?

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 18:04

Yes, but your SEXUALITY is not.

YourPinkDog · 01/06/2024 18:01

Sexuality is not a private issue. Straight people tell and show others they are straight all the time.

Everyone shows and tells other people their sexuality by talking about partners, kids etc. What they dont do is march through the streets, sell themed merchandise and generally 'encourage' others to celebrate it.

ResisterRex · 01/06/2024 18:07

Do you all just want gay people to go away?

My sister would be most surprised if I did.

Rubidium · 01/06/2024 18:08

YourPinkDog · 01/06/2024 17:54

Being gay or lesbian is not so accepted now.

Yes, I think it’s terrible that lesbians (i.e. same sex attracted females) are being told to accept ‘lady dick’. But then lesbians who object to accepting males into their dating circles aren’t welcome at Pride, as demonstrated in Cardiff a couple fo years ago. So much for inclusivity!

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 01/06/2024 18:10

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 18:04

Yes, but your SEXUALITY is not.

What you’re missing is that Pride nowadays is far more about the TQ than the LGB - more gender identity than biological sex.

Stonewall’s last CEO compared lesbians with racists because it’s apparently bigoted for us not to be open to relationships with penis owners who identify as women.

Well indeed. Its surely just a coincidence that Pride became mandatory just at the same time actual same sex attracted people were effectively excluded from it.
Pure coincidence I'm sure.

Pride isn't mandatory. Don't be ridiculous.

Sad to see such homophobia on mumsnet

Agreed. Glad someone said it!

Myalternate · 01/06/2024 18:22

I’ve seen no homophobia on Mumsnet

I just see posters discussing why Pride no longer celebrates LGB without the T

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 17:47

Someone same sex attracted; either exclusively or none exclusively.
Your welcome.

A B person wont be same sex attracted only - they'll be all-sex attracted surely?

I've groaned today at the large rainbows on Tesco and Zoopla website. Felt like emailing them to ask for IWD will they be using suffragette colours? Still might do if there is any more irritating websites!

Sparklybutold · 01/06/2024 18:41

Travelled into Cardiff the other day and saw the queer emporium. Went in and quickly circled out when most of the shop was trans stuff. Even the word queer grinded me.

EndoEnd · 01/06/2024 18:41

ButterCrackers · 01/06/2024 17:59

If you don't think homophobia and transphobia are a real global issue then you are sadly mistaken, it is far from a private issue.

Sparklybutold · 01/06/2024 18:42

queeremporium.co.uk/

Unsurprisingly predominantly lead by Enbys with they/them pronouns... for me, straight away, I tune out.
