KJK supports Trump

1000 replies

NefertitiV · 31/05/2024 02:36

After the Trump verdict today, KJK retweeted three supportive tweets to her timeline, including one from US ex-Fox host Megyn Kelly that says "Guilty on all counts. The country is disgraced. Alvin Bragg should be disbarred. They will rue the day they released this lawfare to corrupt a presidential election."

Another tweet makes fun of President Biden's stutter.

This is someone currently up for election herself. Given her recent remarks about barring rentals to all trans people, and the fact she has received funding from US conservative political groups, does this concern you?

And the left.

What about Rachel Rooney’s book “My Body is Me”. Lovely book aimed for primary aged children, promoting acceptance of them as themselves, as a contrast to the “born in the wrong body trope”.

Once word got out it was “transphobic” it was not able to be found in book shops and taken off Amazon and Bookseller lists, both in the UK and the US.

Private sellers choosing not to stock a book is not the same as banning it.

I think that's ridiculous too, but its not censorship.

Yes & I'm sure any picture books condemning homosexual parents as immoral would be banned from infant classrooms.

Rightly so.

Or do you @CassieMaddox think a religious teacher could decide to introduce this?
As you trust teachers so much??

AlisonDonut · 04/06/2024 11:07

I believe this is a perfect example of Magdalen Berns' 'So open minded your brain fell out'.

Queer Theory. It fucks you up.

CassieMaddox · 04/06/2024 11:08

Anyway, this shows why many posters are so relaxed about KJK right wing links. They support some of the aims of the American Christian Right and think we should do the same here Confused

I doubt any school trust would support a teacher in teaching that and I'm not sure what part of the curriculum it would be appropriate for

No.

We support the Christian right to have a view and see no need to condemn them.

MFL are demanding certain books are banned from being taught in schools. Centrally banned, not just teachers choosing not to teach it. That is censorship.

Teachers selecting from an unreadable large choice of available books based on topic, age and what they want children to learn is them doing their job, not censorship.

Why are you making out censorship is fine?

Some teachers might make bad choices or have an agenda. It's probably better that it isn't just left up to individual teachers.

You now seem to think religious based schools will be entirely trustworthy.
No government scrutiny needed?

So the American Christian Right are - collectively bad? And can’t have a voice?

CassieMaddox · 04/06/2024 11:13

It isn't. There are trusts and governors that oversee whats on the curriculum. We have a national curriculum that keeps teachers busy. The American model doesn't apply here.

Honestly. Bonkers. Absolute moral panic over nothing.

Lots of parents trusted their kids wouldn't be taught about gender identity or explicit sexual activity.

Parental trust has broken down.
That's the problem.

You seem to have moved from:
Teacher's decide.
School's decide
Governors decide.
The government (national curriculum) decide.

Missing the point that whoever decides at whatever level: that is censorship.

This is what's happened in the US - parents find they don't support MFL in their actual schools because they know the teachers and what's being taught.

As much as some want to stir up a panic about LGBT teaching in schools online, it is not holding up on contact with reality. If it keeps people occupied though that's good.

Well the elections will tell us.

But trust has broken down enough for groups of parents in the USA and here to be challenging what is being taught.

Whether they're the majority is debatable.

But it's a reasonable objection to express. Even if you disagree.

Yes some people disagree with MFL.

That's no suprise.

What seems to suprise you is that some people agree with them. And that's ok.

No. What surprises me is some people denying the blindingly obvious truth and whining about meanie lefties.

I don't know why so many posters are in denial about KJK politics- she's not targeting me, my opinions are irrelevant. I just don't understand why people can't just go "yeah, she's a Trump supporter but I like her, get over it".

Instead it's constant ostriching- "no she isn't, prove it, you just hate right wingers, it's not her fault the far right love her, nothing wrong with a bit of book banning and calling trans people entitled and lazy is fine"

Confused

I'm with OP - from a human behaviour perspective it is fascinating.

Or at least: yes she's right wing and that doesn't bother me.

So not sure why you're quoting me.

I don’t think so. Establishing, deciding on censorship requires governmental authority at some level. The schools, teachers and what not then conduct censorship (ie following censor order). Private bodies- like MFL can petition and lobby for censorship by a governmental body.

So in your example, teachers, schools and governors conduct the censorship that the government decided on and ordered via the national curriculum.

I also disagree with kjk on the general discrimination of trans people she supported.

I'm against blanket discrimination of individuals based on group identity.

Whether they're trans, or right wing.

NefertitiV · 04/06/2024 11:35

@EasternStandard

Do you start threads about them? You can’t take your eye off KJK for one post to even offer a name for someone on the left. Do you see why that’s not helping you?

It's a thread about KJK that I started. Why, then, is it necessary for me to start threads about left-wing activists for balance? (I'm fine, BTW.)

Depends how you're defining censorship.

Parents censor their children's content without any government influence.

People with power deciding your content is censorship.
Children have many levels of censorship.

Alison, it is the very definition of sponsoring to pay for a person to fly somewhere and their insurance to attend/appear at events:
“to pay for someone to do something or for something to happen.”

I really don’t know why you are even objecting to it. It’s not like being sponsored is a bad thing. Every donation made to KJK is also sponsoring her. Crowd funding is crowd sponsoring from the donor pov.

God you are being so condescending!

@CassieMaddox

You accuse other posters of using weasel words then do it yourself.

And asking for people to stop misrepresenting facts and provide evidence is not 'gaslighting'
(In the same way that someone saying something you don't like isn't what 'triggering' means).

Grow up! (unless you are actually 12 in which case I apologise).

Edited for clarity.
