I guess he's just got into something better.

If labour don't carry on the ban, they're going to have to face a lot of questions as to why not. Which is going to be tricky in light of the Cass report.

The good thing now is the era of no debate is well and truly over.

So they are going to be held accountable no matter what they decide.

Yes I agree.

Prescribing Puberty Blockers as they are commonly known is OFF BOOK.

So they could prescribe them for a day, a month, a year or for many, many years. That's the point. There is NO standard. There is NO follow up. There is NO data.

That's terrifying.

You'd think all the parents pushing for them would be more scared of the implication of medically experimenting on their developing children's brains and bodies, than explaining to them 'it's fine to like pink, it doesn't mean you're a girl'.

But that's part of the problem - the kids aren't told this and neither are the parents.

Until the Hannah Barnes story re the Tavistock (detailed in Time to Think) broke, PBs were almost universally being described as reversible and safe.

Based on zero evidence.

It's a fucking scandal.

And the ridiculous false comparison being made by foxy and chums that 'it they're OK for 'cis kids' why shouldn't 'trans kids' use them too is absolute nonsense as eloquently pointed out upthread - because one use is evidence based and licensed for very short term use while the other isn't any of those things.

I work for a large pharmacy chain and our company policy is to reject prescriptions written by private gender clinics, Its been in effect for at least 2 years.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but it’s NHSE info for prescribers and pharmacists. It answers a lot of questions…

“New Government restrictions on use of Puberty Suppressing Hormones (Puberty Blockers); Information for prescribers and pharmacists/dispensing doctors”

There’s speculation that Victoria Atkins will run for leader of the conservatives if Rishi Sunak steps down. She will be good at challenging a Labour government and holding their feet to the fire. I think part of the reason why current politics is so dire and we are in the grip of the lunatic culture wars is because of weak opposition to the current government and holding them to account for their policies and actions.

duc748 · 31/05/2024 23:13

Does she have support? Tbh, I'd never heard of her until a few weeks ago, and I doubt I'm the only one. But yes, seemingly sane voices are always welcome in the HoC.

Edited

Thanks for posting that.

If I've read it correctly it appears that those currently being prescribed PB by GGP may still be able to get them via the NHS or UK based private prescriber

I hope that is correct as there will certainly be some children for whom continuing PB is the least worst option.

What does the annotation SLS needed on any of the authorised prescriptions mean? Sure it’s something obvious (but not to me!)

NoBinturongsHereMate · 02/06/2024 07:50

Selected List Scheme.

It's for medicines with restrictions, and means the prescriber is confirming they have checked the requirements for prescribing it have been met.

DrudgeJedd · 06/06/2024 15:16

Jolyon Maugham has accused the NHS of covering up a huge rise in the number of of trans children killing themselves after being denied puberty blockers.
And of course there's a link for crowdfunding ...
Absolutely deranged

Why doesn't he publish the emails? The entire issue should be quite simple to check. Aren't child suicides always centrally recorded?

Helleofabore · 06/06/2024 16:18

It this is true, he should provide evidence. If this is false he is scaremongering in the highest order.

The clinicians, even Polly Carmichael if I recollect, said this was not the case. And the trans lobby groups would also have to take accountability because they have pushed this misinformation so much that vulnerable children think that they have to have this medication or they will have horrendous consequences. Ie they will go through puberty and develop healthy bodies.

The grift goes on...

Datun · 06/06/2024 17:03

As the net closes round these people, their behaviour becomes more desperate.
