https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/26/trans-problems-urinary-bowel-incontinent-young-detransition/

The Telegraph reporting on worrying data showing that young women who've been persuaded that they've been "born in the wrong body" and are on cross sex hormones are experiencing major problems from their use with 95 per cent developing pelvic floor dysfunction.

"Around 87 per cent of the participants had urinary symptoms such as incontinence, frequent toilet visits and bed-wetting, while 74 per cent had bowel issues including constipation or being unable to hold stools or wind in. Some 53 per cent suffered from sexual dysfunction".

And our sainted NHS have been contributing to this without conducting any research.

Trans men taking testosterone getting ‘postmenopausal’ problems aged 28’

Study found many had bladder and bowel symptoms they would expect to see in a woman after the menopause

I don't know if anyone has seen anything written by Gruffin a transman/trans identified female who has had terrible health issues? It's just heartbreaking.

It is complete hubris to think that we can mess with biology as we please and for there to be no consequences.

This is off the scale depressing. Everyone and I mean everyone involved in this even if was just cheering from the side lines should be made accountable, publicly named and shamed and facing prison terms where applicable. It's just horrendous.

Yes they should be but they wont. It will be just like the blood scandal despite the ruined lives, illnesses and deaths everyone responsible passes the buck, and huge sums are paid by the public in compensation.

GailBlancheViola · 26/05/2024 21:43

I know @Ellerby83 which moves it from depressing to rage inducing.

GailBlancheViola · 26/05/2024 21:44

Mind you in the internet age there are plenty of receipts and they should never be allowed to forget what they have done.

Crumpleton · 26/05/2024 22:50

Genuine question...

I've often read testosterone isn't licensed in the UK for use on women, many women suffering with very low libido are desperate for that part of their life back and have to jump through hoops to get nowhere
yet if they wanted to trans to a man they'd have no problem being pumped full of it.

And it’s not even “an increased risk”.
At 95% it’s almost guaranteed.

“Experts analysed 68 transgender men who were taking the cross sex hormone to change their identity from female to male and found that 95 per cent had developed pelvic floor dysfunction.

The participants, who were as young as 18 and had an average age of 28, had bladder and bowel symptoms that medics would expect to see in a woman after the menopause.”

Interesting use of terminology there:

I hadn't heard about the increased cancer risk. Do you know of any links to related articles?

My sister transitioned around 5 years ago and now has stage 4 cancer. Everyone insists that it isn't related to the testosterone, but it's hard not to wonder.

Very sorry to hear about your sister @Forhecksake. Not a study but the WPath files leak had two mentions of trans men developing liver cancer. A report by Transgender Trend says: 'They acknowledge that two female patients developed liver cancer caused by testosterone'. https://www.transgendertrend.com/wpath-unmasked-wpath-files/

As the mother of a DD who was gagging to go on these, am more and more relieved with every day that passes and every report like this one that I held the line. I know she has resented and been angry at me, self-harmed to make a point and to show how frustrated she is, but one day she will see that she has got off lightly. Even if she still hates me.

Am appalled at the horrendous risks CAMHS etc were clearly happy to take affirming her and referring her to the Tavistock. And so fucking angry for these poor, poor girls.

There are also numerous past reports of male people with trans identities who put themselves in LGBT youth group leaders preying on those young female people who identified as boys / young men. Benji from Canada was one of the first I heard describe how she was groomed. And she said all the teen females were groomed in the group. I have heard this numerous times since.

I hope this has stopped but I don’t have confidence.

Of course, those male people require these young female people to push for the treatment to be accepted and validated.

It’s heartbreaking. So many of these girls are suffering untreated trauma from sexual abuse and yet people turn a blind eye whilst they are thrust into the arms of sexual predators. Is it any wonder they end up so distressed by their female body that they will accept terrible mutilation to try and escape it?

Do you know where I could read Benji’s story? I did try to google it but couldn’t find anything on it. It’s incredibly brave of her to tell her story and help protect other girls, and I’d really like to read it.

I saw shocking testimony recently. It’s from the mother of an American girl, who was effectively kidnapped from her family by the state and placed in male facilities. It led to terrible sexual violence being inflicted on her. I won’t go into more detail because it is extremely distressing and it might be harmful for some here to read.

Equally I’d advise caution on that basis to all before viewing the video. But I wanted to share it because it makes so explicit the harm being inflicted on these girls. Despite widespread reporting on incidents of sexual violence against trans-identifying men it is very rare to see the same for women and girls.

This whole thing is so sad. I have a young relative who's been taking these strong drugs since just before her 17th birthday, with full support of one parent at least. What it is doing to that young body, I do not know. It's tragic. And makes me so, so angry.

But to keep family connections open, I bite my tongue.

But it's awful, just awful to use young girls and women as experimental subjects.

I’m so sorry, it’s such a difficult situation to be in. I honestly don’t know what I’d do. I would still want her to be able to seek my support, and if the relationship breaks down then that is no longer a possibility. There is no easy way to help these young people whilst living in a society that encourages their self harm and takes away the ability of a loving family to intervene in their best interests.

GOTBrienne · 27/05/2024 00:31

DH gets testosterone injections relating to a condition he has. It’s like male HRT. I can’t tell you the fuck on we have to get it done. Ordering it, finding a nurse trained to administer it, we aren’t allowed to do it ourselves.
How are these young women managing to get it i will never understand.

Checking out the actual article (thanks for the link @AnotherAngryAcademic) there are problems with methodology.

  1. small sample size of 68

  2. "Volunteers" i.e.people who answered a web request to participate. That's not a random subset of the group 'transmen.' Together with the small sample size, that's not good.

That said, the results are not at all surprising. So, just to take an example at random, if, let's say, you wanted the study to be strong enough for inclusion in the Cass review, you'd replicate it with a larger, random sample to see whether the results hold up.

Given how hard it's been to get funding for any research on trans issues, I suspect the problem was the researchers just had to start somewhere. It's a very good indication that a larger study on the topic deserves funding!

Even with a small, self selecting study those numbers are so bad it's hard to argue there isn't a problem going on.

What percentage of 18 - 30 year old women generally experience incontinence?

Looking around the internet the most unfavorable numbers I could possibly find put it at '20% of young women'.

The gap here is just so large between the 'control' and the study group, you have to seriously ask why. Being self selecting doesn't resolve the question here.

If this is anywhere near accurate then there no way that doctors who treat trans identifying females regularly don't know there's a problem.

Now ask yourself why did those NHS adult clinics without data from Hilary Cass when asked for it.

This would very much explain why they refused to cooperate.

Can you imagine the advertising on this:

"Transman incontinence pants, specially designed with your unique body in mind. (Have the nappy shot with different shaped pants and the ubiquitous water coloured water here). Helping you be your true authentic self. Now you too can go about your day, not worrying about unpleasant odours. You too can now go carefree like Cismen.' (we have have some skating imagery going on here too)."

Re: the increased cancer risk

I have had dealings with one trans man who developed liver cancer and sadly died about a year later.

Primary Liver cancer tends to be more common in men, thought to be testosterone related.

When this person presented the first thing the oncologist did is advise discontinuation of testosterone treatment which the person had been on for about two years. It's hard not to conclude there was a likely link.

I've no idea whether this case would have been reported to any central cancer monitoring system. Probably not.

Sorry for your sister @Forhecksake
You didn't mention which type of cancer she has.

And that's the best outcome. In the increasingly plausible 2044, women under the age of 16 will believe that we've always lived in Gilead

It’s already happening that young people have zero comprehension of how things were 30 years ago. I can totally understand how brainwashing works. I had a conversation with an 18 year-old the other day who was having issues with a furry at his college who had reported him for not referring to her as “it”. When I told him that trans was a very recent fashion trend and back when I was at school nobody was trans or non-binary he looked at me like I was a bit naïve and said something along the lines of they were probably all just in the closet. He wasn’t being judgmental but he had clearly had it drummed into him that “trans has always existed but people are so much more accepting now than in the nasty 70s”. It was really hard to explain that it literally wasn’t a thing even in a closeted hidden way and that zero children were identifying as the opposite sex.

@Signalbox Jon Uhler has a theory about this. When you look at the incidence of trans and the skyrocketing of rates and match the graph to the introduction of Ru Paul to television, it’s hard to look past it.

So many dreadful stories on this thread.
The Telegraph has an article today about Wes Streeting repeating his "regret" that he didn't speak out sooner about the bullying of women. As shadow Health secretary, I'd hope to hear his comments about the damage that's happening to young women from mistreatment like this.

Oh, so sorry to read that @Forhecksake It's tough, keeping quiet - or at least discreet, to try to keep lines of communication & family open. So sorry for your sister's condition. I hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

Chariothorses · 27/05/2024 08:00

The fact that testosterone remains in detransitioning female bodies for so long after they stop taking it, also harms a new generation. There is NO NHS England policy on monitoring their children. Many of the babies born will have long term health problems that may not show up until they reach puberty themselves- yet every Trust does their own thing (mostly nothing long term).

I just don't know what to think about this. On the one hand, Streeting is a powerful voice in this current version of the Labour Party and so his apology (if that's what it is) will have some weight.

And yet ... we're in election campaign mode & the Labour Party wants to win. Promises to 51% of the population is a good move, but will they follow through?

Oh, I hate having to be so cynical.

It is remarkable to think of the research that went into the possible impact of HRT on women, and the caution GPs had about prescribing HRT to menopausal women because of the supposed increased risk of breast cancer, which seems to have been exaggerated. And now testosterone is being doled out to young women with apparently no consideration of the harmful effects it will have on their health. It is beyond all rationality.

It really is unfathomable from the medical profession who were swept along blindly accepting and facilitating this horror. With HRT even where women were experiencing real physical health problems due to the menopause, there was such caution and scare stories. Whereas testosterone was handed out to physically healthy girls and women seemingly unquestioning. At best the evidence of harm unknown but more likely knowing it to cause devastating harm. It has never made sense.
