Written by the sports writer who wrote several comments in the Times over the years supporting transwomen in female sports, so no surprise there is no challenge (that I can see) to Izzard's bletherings:

Eddie Izzard: ‘Trans people going back in a shell? Won’t happen’

Eddie Izzard (also answers to Suzy) has migrated from stand-up comedy to serious acting, with solo performances of Great Expectations and Hamlet. But the role the 62-year-old really wants is to be the first trans member of parliament. Interview by Mart...

Did anyone ever watch the documentary about him when he did all those marathons? There was an interview in it with an ex-girlfriend of his who said he was very difficult to be in a relationship with. She sounded so hurt and broken by it.

It was at that point I stopped liking him as a performer. Way before all the trans nonsense.

I haven't watched the documentary, but I remember his marathoning stunt. It may have turned out to be quite a canny move on Eddie's part, because the people I know who turned out to run with him along the way are all like, "Oh, Eddie Izzard, I've run with her, you know, she's such a lovely person and I won't hear a word said against her."

‘Girl mode’

Would it be ok for me to dress as a man dressed as a woman and lower my voice and say I’m in trans mode? No, because it’s offensive and appropriating. Fuck off Eddie Izzard.

Yes of course it's ok for you to do that

Channeling his inner Jane Eyre, wondering if Mr Rochester will text her

Those affectations are weird aren't they, because women don't normally adopt them unless they're being theatrical (like Joan Collins, say)?

I saw Juno Dawson for the first time recently on TV, and assumed it was a camp man because of the long hair and dangly earrings. As soon as the head tilt, chin lean, and hair flip started, I realise I was right my mistake.

Eddie is almost laughably narcissistic. What a strange and discomforting oddball. I also find EI creepy as hell and would hate to be in an enclosed space with Big Ed.

My thoughts too.

GenderConfusedTiger · 25/05/2024 09:43

Time for a name change I reckon 🐯

Nouvellenovel · 25/05/2024 09:58

Right-wing people say, ‘Right, who do we hate now? Is it the Jews, the Muslims, the Methodists or people with blue hair?’

As a Labour supporter myself this statement annoys me. The Labour Party hate women imo. Especially women who refuse to centre trans women.
EI won’t mention that though.

SofaThrow · 25/05/2024 10:00

Also the LP does not have a track record with Jews...

Yes. Labour hate women and Jews. And people doing well. Also, they hate the disabled. No one gives a shit about that.

Couldn't get passed the photos to bother reading the article.

Anyway here's a pic of photo shopped Eddie V Eddie adjusting his tackle in a queue for the ladies.

Vile man.

Yeah, I saw him on ITV this morning. He doesn’t look like that. He looks worse than some of the trans parody accounts on twitter

That photo...yeuch.

And even with all the best photoshopping he STILL looks like what he actually is.

Brewdug · 25/05/2024 10:25

I've just clicked again to finish reading and Izzard is now 'he' throughout. I'm confused, I didn't think it was written that way previously, has there been an edit?

AnonyLonnymouse · 25/05/2024 10:36

Has anyone ever seen ‘The Day of the Triffids’ TV film?

Eddie Izzard plays a militaristic leader, with a hint of sexual predator, really rather well.

SageRosemary · 25/05/2024 10:37

He's dangling his handbag on one finger, almost like he's giving us the middle finger if you turned the photo upside down. A woman trying that trick would possibly dislocate her finger.

bilgewater · 25/05/2024 10:40

CBA to read it. Man in a dress gets lots of attention, as per.

FelineGood76 · 25/05/2024 10:47

Again with the history rewriting gaslighing bullshit about "coming out" in the 1980s. No you didn't Eddie, you were a man who wore women's clothes.
AND if a woman wears chunky boots, guess what? Still a fucking woman you absolute moron.
There IS no "essence of woman" unless you think that womanhood is a costume you can put on and take off when you feel like it.
Which you obviously do.

Nurber · 25/05/2024 10:48

Maddy70 · 25/05/2024 09:19

Yes of course it's ok for you to do that

Seriously?? The trans lobby would be ok with that?

tsmainsqueeze · 25/05/2024 10:49

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 25/05/2024 08:05

He sure as hell didn’t look like that on Sunday Brunch last week. He looked fucking awful.

i saw that and i thought that the other guests were a little uncomfortable in his presence ,i get the feeling people walk on egg shells around him.
I also feel a bit offended with his 'impression' of a woman ,does he think we all look like caricatures caked in badly applied makeup ?
How dare he tell me about 'the essence of a woman'.

I can’t get past the pictures which must be amongst the most edited in the history of The Photograph.

Despite being heavily edited, it's still obvious that he's a big butch man.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 25/05/2024 11:19

eddie re writing his history completely is pointless as he did a whole skit about being a bloke in a dress and they’re not women’s dresses, they’re my dresses

it’s all out there on the Internet

BezMills · 25/05/2024 11:23

His earlier work was quite accurate. I liked that.

PotholesAnonymous · 25/05/2024 11:32

essence of a woman

Is having two X chromosomes.

Don't let anyone, not even a washed up comedian wannabe mp (please god no), tell you otherwise.

Get back in your misogynistic box Eddie.

FrogTheWarrior · 25/05/2024 11:33

I think Eddie Izzard is brilliant.

MN anti trans brigade, less so.

Itsabeautufulday · 25/05/2024 11:38

I've been a girl then a woman all my life and no idea what 'girl mode' is. Is that when he pops on womanface and acts like what he thinks a girls does, says, etc.
