First item is the Hate bill and JK's tweets - they did invite her on but haven't heard back yet

For women Scotland will be on too.

A bit of a last hurrah before EB heads off and the fluffification of WH gets more embedded.

Emma. Can the police not have a proportionate response to this or do you not trust them.

I wish Susan had pointed out that the NCHI recorded against Murdo Fraser by Scottish Police and the other Tory woman for misgendering are not encouraging on this point.

maltravers · 02/04/2024 10:36

Hopefully JKR will agree to be interviewed on a future programme before Emma B leaves WH. Well done Emma and thank you for covering this properly.

WarriorN · 02/04/2024 10:37

Looks like it was covered on this morning too

Fingers crossed; it was Jk that she repeatedly said "there's always time before the end of the programme..."

Susan moving on to the process becomes the punishment.

It truly is. And the activists know this which is why certain individuals spend a lot of time going after certain people and inevitably getting nowhere, they know they've no case but they want to punish miss x for whatever reason so tie her up in legal costs and processes for months/years.

And now they get to do it anonymously and frequently!

What could possibly go wrong?

I think the reason sex isn’t there is where would you start? Misogyny is acceptable across huge swathes of society it would be absolutely impossible to police.

Don't worry, the SNP propose to police it shortly.

The Misogyny Bill is imminent.

nauticant · 02/04/2024 10:59

EB now has only 6 episodes of WH left.

WarriorN · 02/04/2024 11:02

Who is replacing her, do we know?

OP posts:
CriticalCondition · 02/04/2024 11:03

EB said she has just six episodes of WH left. That sounded like an RSVP to me!

DadJoke · 02/04/2024 11:07

Making lists of people with a protected charateristics who have committed crimes and inferring collective guilt to the entire group is a time-honoured technique used by people who want to stir up hatred against minority groups. Implying they are a danger to women and children is the icing on the cake. In every case, they imply that this time it's different, this time, the statistics they've cobbled together are correct, and those other people who've done the same thing with other protected groups are wrong.

If JKR was using this approach for black people, or gay people, all of you (I hope) would be up in arms against it. But no, this is your pet hate group, so you support it..

I don't agree with the bill as it stands, but it hasn't instilled in me the need to attack a minority group, or shame the entire group by naming criminals and others within that protected group whose behaviour I don't like.

I have no doubt JKR will not be arrested or charged. The bar for prosecution is pretty high, and she is untouchable.

JKR, Helen Joyce, Tatchell and IW on her final programme please!

WarriorN · 02/04/2024 11:15

Massive false equivalency there dad joke.

Also, you're the one smearing trans people.

You're describing men who committed sex offences who then identified themselves as trans as actually trans.

Now, there's this statistic that shows that the rates of sex offenders who are "trans" is much much higher than male sex offenders who don't.

So they're either genuinely all trans. In which case there's clearly an issue. Or they're not. In which case there's clearly an issue.

MorrisZapp · 02/04/2024 11:16

Men aren't a minority group though?

heathspeedwell · 02/04/2024 11:17

Male people (however they identify) are responsible for over 80% of violent crime and 98% of sexual crime.

Male people (however they identify) aren't a vulnerable minority.

Pointing out that sex matters is a safeguarding issue. Protecting women and children is hardly 'stirring up hatred'.

Pretty impossible to police within the police force itself, as we know.

nauticant · 02/04/2024 11:21

Naga Munchetty is now discussing JKR and the Scottish hate speech law on Radio 5 Live. This appears to be catching.

Imicola · 02/04/2024 11:24

Wilful misinterpretation of what JKR actually said from @DadJoke - that is not remotely what she is saying, and you know it. (or if you don't, then perhaps you should read it again more carefully)

But she wasn't implying that all Transwomen are sex offenders or cheeky fuckers etc. She was saying categorically that ALL transwomen are MEN.
And it's not "hate" to say so.

They say they are working on a misogyny hill, so that can’t be it

I can't wait to see how they define women and misogyny in their new misogyny bill.

Hello India, is that you? Not everyone she mentioned has committed a crime. They are all examples of how allowing people who were born male to identify as women harms women who were born female though.

nauticant · 02/04/2024 11:32

Over on Radio 5 Live there's a Glasgow academic downplaying people's worries about the new law and when asked whether JKR had broken it he couldn't really give an answer. He said the test is: has she caused an individual to feel fear and alarm?

Good luck Mr Academic with assuming that trans activists are going to be prudent in their offence-taking.

She didn't make a list of people who had committed crimes. Did you read it or have you done an IW here?

And how are the police assessing whether the complainant has felt fear or alarm or not?
