Disciplinary action for ONS female employees if they object to trans colleagues using their lavatories

This -

"Women working for the Office for National Statistics face disciplinary action if they object to male-born colleagues using single-sex lavatories and changing rooms, documents leaked to The Sunday Telegraph reveal.

A cache of HR policies, internal communications and posts from the ONS intranet show that the statistics body has been subject to “institutional capture” by trans activists, gender critical campaigners have alleged...

A set of ONS resources on “Gender Identity and Transitioning at Work” includes a manager’s checklist for supporting a transitioning employee with a section headed “use of single-sex facilities”.

It says: “Have you agreed when the employee will start to use single-sex facilities, such as toilets and changing rooms, appropriate to their acquired gender? This will usually be on the first day of transition.”

The document says that “if colleagues object to sharing facilities with employees going through transition, the situation should be dealt with through communication, discussion and education”.

“If colleagues persist with unreasonable objections you may need to manage the situation via grievance or disciplinary procedures.”"

Much more detail including a response from Sex Matters in the article linked above.

FFS. I note the ONS say they have received no complaints - I hope that’s rectified quickly.

BonzoGates · 30/03/2024 14:58

Quelle surprise

RunsWithDinosaurs · 30/03/2024 15:00

It’s no surprise that the ONS is captured. Those census questions made that quite clear.

haveyoutriedturningitoffandonagain · 30/03/2024 15:01

What are they classing as an "unreasonable objection"?

QueenofTheBorg · 30/03/2024 15:10

It's quite amazing really, how easily and relatively quickly this has all happened isn't it? I mean we can't solve racism despite years and years of efforts, but an unelected, undemocratic movement can hijack the word "woman" and take away our rights and freedoms and we're expected to go along with this bullshit. This was Dave Chappelle's point if anyone saw his latest special.

It feels like someone must have been playing a really clever long game. Make sure major institutions are captured, ordinary men and women are frightened into not stating biological facts, ensure that government departments, who produce statistics FFS, are complicit in the great big fucking lie that transmen are women and in the end you might win.

Except, except, someone leaked this (fucking well done that person) so someone in the ONS isn't going along with this bullshit. The majority of the public wouldn't if they really got how insidious and dangerous this movement is.

Rightsraptor · 30/03/2024 15:13

But who is going to complain in these circumstances? Anyone reading the guff the ONS has churned out on this would expect to be on a disciplinary hearing before she could say 'transwomen are men'.

And even if some brave women did complain, each would be told they were the only complainant, everyone else was totally happy with the situation.

ChristinaXYZ · 30/03/2024 15:17

It would be interesting to see the impact assessments done prior to making these decisions.

I cannot believe that the ONS, an organisation which is about accuracy in recording history allowed a group internally to transition James Barry. It really does show how far these groups will go to misrepresent history and facts to falsely support their claims. No! James Barry should not be transitioned. How fucked up to reframe a woman’s life and achievement to suit your group’s political purposes!

illinivich · 30/03/2024 15:27

Given the arse the ONS made of the census, are we surprised?

Im guessing men with gender throughout the organisation.

So if a woman refused to change her clothes in front of a man, she could be fired?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/03/2024 15:38

Not often you read comments from male readers of the Telegraph like:
"This isn't sex discrimination this is a full on War against Women"

The ONS enshrining bullying women in its disciplinary procedures. Shameful - but no surprise from that toxic trans captured organisation

PaminaMozart · 30/03/2024 15:59

Only £19,000???

Outrageous, given that she was passed over for promotion THREE times.

No complaints, given that complaining is likely to result in a disciplinary? Amazing.

Tallisker · 30/03/2024 16:24

They need to join SEEN

Tinysoxxx · 30/03/2024 16:28

The ONS is unfit for purpose. It benefits no one to have bodged statistics.

It would also appear they are breaking equality laws.

Justme56 · 30/03/2024 16:29

I imagine when one of the people on the senior leadership team is trans it makes it difficult for those at lower levels to speak up.

forgotmyusername1 · 30/03/2024 16:52

By doing this it means they can promote trans women and go - see, we promote women

mumda · 30/03/2024 17:19

Can I object on behalf of the employees who are too frightened to make a complaint.

BetsyBobbin · 30/03/2024 17:25

If my workplace had threatened me with a disciplinary because I objected a male coming into female single sex's spaces I sure as hell would go into the men's toilets, greet Bob at the urinal with a loud "ALRIGHT BOB? HOW'S THE WIFE?", lock myself into one of their cubicles and do the loudest piss I could possibly do.

FuckOffYokeofOpression · 30/03/2024 17:26

The campaigners have indeed toiled long and hard in the shadows to set this up. They've been fairly open about that in the past.

NitroNine · 30/03/2024 17:33

As we’re here talking about statistics & record-keeping: while I’m sure you know the Great Wall of China is the longest in the world… Did you know that the thickest walls were those of Ur-Nammu City, the longest fort walls surround Kumbhalgarh Fort, the tallest artificial climbing wall is on the side of a hotel in Reno, Nevada - and, most importantly, that you can hop over the paywall to read the article in the OP here?

A 2l bottle of water held at height would be helpful. 2 bottles with a long pause in between and some sighing will help the atmosphere.

Perhaps shouting over for a Tampax would help too.

upthehill24 · 30/03/2024 17:37

The boss is a man called 'Alison'. Maya's organisation 'Sex Matters' is on the case, but it is amazing nobody bothers with the points already established by employment cases like hers. (Presumably everyone thinks it is only a few months before The Cult gives orders to their followers, who will then be in charge of changing the law in obedience to whatever the fetishists/ fantasists/ instruct.)
