An MSP (Murdo Fraser) threatening legal action against Police Scotland after his twitter/x post was logged as a hate incident

I couldn’t see another thread on this - just wondering if a male complaining about ‘hate incidents’ registered against him will produce a different result compared with all the female complaints that have been dismissed.

An MSP is threatening to take legal action against Police Scotland after a tweet he posted criticising the Scottish Government’s transgender policy was logged as a ‘hate incident’.
Veteran Conservative Murdo Fraser said the force had ‘behaved not just outrageously, but unlawfully’ after learning that his name appears in police files for expressing a political view.
A trans activist reported the post on X, formerly Twitter, to Police Scotland whose officers decided it did not amount to a crime but should be classed as a ‘hate incident’ which will remain on record – even though no law had been broken.

Some tablet for me would be 'ansome, ta very muchly.

The fudge would be lucky to not get eaten on the home journey! The tablet would be eaten before I got on the motorway!

Davidchecksall · 25/03/2024 21:26

Oi @Froodwithatowel please Me Duck, don't bring Weetabix into this. It comes from Northamptonshire which is totally harmless and inoffensive in everything.

TheABC · 25/03/2024 21:36

Maybe that's the SNP's cunning plan? Report the Conservative Party in Westminster as an ongoing hate crime, lock the MPs up and declare independence?

WickedSerious · 25/03/2024 19:49

If you'll be anywhere near Edinburgh could you grab some fudge?

I'll settle up with you later.

Was going to ask Fudge Kitchen or Fudge House but that is a very Edinburgh question.

So from that clip. Houmza's not interested in recording any spikes in hate against women.
Only men who claim to be women. And are vile to them. Like Windy.

Is calling him a liar a hate crime?

DrBlackbird · 25/03/2024 23:47

Why was none of this explored in that damn Anti social programme that hosted a load of interviewees saying it’ll all be fiiiine don’t worry your pretty little heads, just bekind and play nice?

You would not know if you'd had a NHCI filed against you
Isn't the solution for every woman in Scotland to ask for a Subject Access Request, on a frequent basis? Play them at their own game.

How do you do this

The SNP's vision for an "independent" Scotland. Only the party line is permitted, no other thoughts allowed. The sooner we get rid of these fascists the better.

That what I find amusing they go on about freedom, when infact they would regulate every aspect of life if they could mind you they are giving it a good go.

why, in the name of fuckity fuck are the Babylon recording things which are not crimes? They might as well be recording the incidences of stamp collecting or flower arranging. Unless, of course, they are simply compiling watch lists of wrong thinkers? Isn't that what the Stasi used to do?

NotBadConsidering · 26/03/2024 01:22

NCHIs arose from the inquiry into the murder of Stephen Lawrence to allow police to quantify racist acts. Their original intention was to capture hatred in the community.

Their original intention was not to capture people stating biological reality and objecting to the world’s biggest medical scandal.

Do you remember the SNP's Named Person scheme? Every child would have a state appointed guardian who could question a child about anything and keep it secret from the parents? Not children at risk, every single child. A spy in every family! Thank God it got binned by Westminster's intervention.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2024 07:50

I found an FOI that suggests a figure of £10 million for the implementation of the Named Person Bill (since scrapped). But its just the money given to LAs, not including the cost of paying legislators to create bullshit badly drafted legislation.

...to be standing round Sauchiehall Street any night of the week plus any areas or transport surrounding an Old Firm match, ready to log these.

More likely Rose Street - they may have to log the location and can you imagine any of the dull-witted 2:2 Grievance Studies graduates being able to spell Sauchiehall?

Froodwithatowel · 26/03/2024 08:18

They'd do an entire powerpoint presentation to explain to you in depth how requiring them to was triggering, dangerous, literal violence, colonialist, something only white right wing people would do and denounce you as such, and then get you arrested for a non crime.

SinnerBoy · 26/03/2024 09:52

You may jest...

I actually forgot about that little gem there really is no end to the ludicrous ideas, each one more strange than the last.

DrBlackbird · 26/03/2024 14:49

Here’s one suggestion for avoiding a hate crime…

Change the site to ‘Irony Over Scotland’ and use antonyms of potentially offensive words – suffixed by ‘(A)’ or just state ‘Irony Alert’

We’ll all catch on.

Example:
I think that Nicola Sturgeon has been Scotland’s best(A) first minister and have always been impressed(A) by her honesty(A) and integrity(A)

Rose Street is a fair steep place to be pushing up the fully refreshed and lively, if I recall my high incline streets off Sauchiehall correctly. But there's a lot in what you say re: the ease of even the digital paperwork…

JL690 - Do you remember the SNP's Named Person scheme?

I occasionally wonder if I hallucinated the Named Person scheme. And then other people remember it so I know that actual, appointed, adults considered this to be not only viable but desirable.

Can we revive the theory of miasmas and write some decisions in Scotland off to the terrible mists causing temporary derangement and no-one shall ever speak of them again?

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2024 20:07

Phlogiston could explain a lot, tbh.

SinnerBoy · 26/03/2024 22:48
