Planet Fitness is a franchisor with 2.5k gyms in North America. A woman entered her local gym in Alaska to find a man standing in front of the mirror shaving. A 12 year old girl in a towel was sitting in the corner. The woman confronted the man who said he was LGBTQ and could be there. She asked him to leave and he refused. She took his photo (he was fully dressed with shirt hair and looks exactly like any other bloke) and complained to the front desk, who did nothing. She has now had her membership canceled and she has been reported for taking a photo of a member which is against the rules.
She said she is going to report his presence to police.

I just cannot understand why the guy would say "I'm LGBT". Lesbians don't use the change room of the opposite sex. Gay men don't use the change room of the opposite sex. Bisexual people don't use the change room of the opposite sex. What has anyone's sexuality got to do with where they change? Are we saying that lesbians should now be changing with men? This is all so backwards.

Why do we have to have expected standards of behaviour for women who find a man alone with a preteen girl in a women’s changing room? Why can’t she freak out about it?

There are a couple of trans women at my gym. They use a closed cubicle. They are very welcome to be part of the gym community.

There was an issue recently where a dad insisted on taking his 10 year old daughter in to the male changing rooms. The men in the changing room complained to the staff that it was inappropriate to have a female of that age in their changing room. Men should feel uncomfortable to change in front of a girl!

That’s why women and in some cases girls use video or photograph

Because there’s enough male colluders who will discredit and attack

And still those actions providing proof receive punishment because male colluders don’t want anyone to see it

In the Wi Spa footage, I sometimes think of the man with the moustache who patronisingly told Cubana Angel 'you're kind of being a dick'.

Women who stand up for themselves and for little girls get attacked. Every time. The Guardian ran a hit piece on Angel, rubbishing her views.

Women who protested outside the Spa were physically attacked and hustled off to jeers from masked antifa types.

A transwoman released a truly awful music video of theyself in a Spa with a monstrous penis attacking women, and got a puff piece in the Guardian.

Laurie Penny said the girls should have 'looked away' and not complained.

it's such a clear illustration of rape culture, of silencing women, of prioritising men's wants and desires over women's safety and wellbeing.

It’s like the Spanish case where men in the armed forces have claimed to be trans in order to claim benefits available to women. These are men who can see right through “TWAW”, they know that there’s no way to deny that someone is trans, so they just march in and claim female spaces.

Some men are,that's a fact.

If laws were introduced that allowed men to have sex with 12 year olds would you be here defending a man who did just that Cazpar?
Just because it's the rules?
Or would you feel justified in complaining because of what is morally right?

So your gym then has no communal changing area that those male people enter to get to the cubicles? Ie. The cubicles they use don’t require them walking through any communal spaces where female people have the expectation of privacy ?

Sounds like a better set up.

I don’t know about you all but I’ve never seen someone shaving in the changing room. It’s unusual that they chose to do that there and combined with everything else suggests to me they were being deliberately provocative or living out some kind of fetish.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all their friends and family know them as “he”. And it’s interesting that this person didn’t explicitly say to the woman that they were trans, instead they said “LGBT”

If you are female and use female changing rooms it's unlikely that you will encounter women shaving their faces.

Most pools/gyms have rule against shaving.

I'm less concerned about his shaving and more concerned about the fact that he is a man in a women's space.

Not sure of the details but according to the articles I've read, he's a known character in the area. He has approached girls for sex and stalked women in malls. He's known in the area for being a creepy sex pest if not actually convicted pedo

Out of interest, if a TW walked around a remake changing room where 12 year old girls were with nothing on and penis out would this be tolerated?

What if TW stood naked with penis out right next to 12 year old girl whilst she was changing.

What if they were holding their penis whilst looking at the 12 year old girl?

At what point would you say it was not tolerable.

Are we sure this man wasn't doing this to make a point and raise awareness of this ridiculous situation? Absolute piss take to just claim i'm LGBTQ am allowed in here. Mind blowing that the company have gone along with it.

That's the whole problem. Once it becomes acceptable for men to go into women's facilities, this ENORMOUS loophole has opened up for the Saviles of this world. 'Oh, dear me no, I wasn't letching at the young girl, I'm trans/queer/identify as gender neutral' or whatever and bingo, 'Oh, there you go, sir, er, I mean madam, er, yes, whatever...' <holds open door to female changing room>

People who can't see this either have tunnel vision or are stupid or are naive.

As a poster said the other day, how can you tell the perverts apart from the 'real trans'? You can't. So how many scared or abused or actually raped young girls are an acceptable level of fallout to keep a handful of men happy?

But here we are. Being kind and polite has helped to land us here.

I can't think of any benign reason why a man would want to be in a women's changing room.

No ordinary decent man would want to find himself in a women's changing room with girls OR women. The men I know would not set foot. And if by some accident stumbled in there, would get out asap. So yes we can question this guy's motives.

To the PPs saying that the 'trans people they know' would never do this - there is no way of telling 'true trans' from 'fake trans predator'. None at all. That is because 'transwomen' are men. That is why we want our separate spaces. JKR has been saying this, nicely, for years now.

That woman who confronted him did good. Good for her. What a woman. This dude's pic has been all over social media for days, everyone knows who he is now. She's a hero, and an example to be followed by any woman who clocks a man in their private space.

Women need firm legislation and management to protect them from the men who'd love to get their kit off in the presence of 12-year-olds.

It's fantastic (though insane) that PF are doubling down like this. GC women could not have asked for a more perfect example of the dangers of self-ID. It's like a South Park episode - gym provides chaperones to protect sex pest's right to use women's changing room.

I've heard this suggested by transactivists proposing that straight women need to be protected from lesbians. It's always men taking this line and they usually think they've come up with a 'gotcha' line of argument. Unfortunately the statistics show incredibly low levels of risk from lesbian sex offenders and women aren't scared of lesbian women. They are rationally scared of men in their single-sex spaces because the only men motivated to get into those spaces are men who don't have women's best interests at heart.

Right, all those predatory lesbians roaming around! I'll take my chances with them over the man trying to change next to little girls.

According to that great public intellectual, Laurie Penny, if it's a man you are allowed to call the police, but if it's a true and honest laydee with a lady-dicque, you should let your young daughters know that 'it's rude to stare' and let 'her' got about 'her' business

At no point have I given my opinion on him being in the changing room. I have merely said that I don't believe he is actually a trans person, rather that in my opinion he is a predatory man using Self ID as a loop hole to gain access to spaces he shouldn't be in.

Which is the whole reason I have a problem with Self ID, it is wide open to abuse by people with questionable motives.
