Planet Fitness is a franchisor with 2.5k gyms in North America. A woman entered her local gym in Alaska to find a man standing in front of the mirror shaving. A 12 year old girl in a towel was sitting in the corner. The woman confronted the man who said he was LGBTQ and could be there. She asked him to leave and he refused. She took his photo (he was fully dressed with shirt hair and looks exactly like any other bloke) and complained to the front desk, who did nothing. She has now had her membership canceled and she has been reported for taking a photo of a member which is against the rules.
She said she is going to report his presence to police.

I'm impressed- it is very rare we see anyone here blatantly defending people who are choosing to expose themselves in front of children. I think you are utterly wrong, @Cazpar , but I am reluctantly impressed at your willingness to defend such a person.

That doesn't make it not dodgy as fuck.

Just because Planet Fitness have their heads up their arses about the dangers of this absurd policy doesn't make it okay.

Hopefully they are enjoying the 100s of millions of dollars in losses. I'm sure this man was worth it.

And even if it isn’t, why do you think the 12 year old girl should have her body be exposed to his gaze? Or have to view his naked body?

Why do you think normal safeguarding requirements should not stand if he says he’s trans?

No. Actually, I am not. I remember there was a poster who declared that the woman who went to reception at WiSpa in a towel behaved more egregiously than the male with a semi-erect penis who slid into the spa less than a metre from the eye line of a nine year old girl.

I also remember posters defending a male getting dressed in a Belfast gym on more than one occasion so that two girls could describe that male's penis and testicles. And those girls felt they could not report the incident to their dad until weeks of this behaviour.

I also remember in Washington state there was the sex abuse survivor who heard the male voice of a male who was watching five year old girls get undressed and dressed. There was never any confirmation that the parents ever knew that a male was going to watch these girls get dressed and undressed. And the gym said they would call the police on the woman who objected in a state of shock at having her own privacy effectively stripped because she was behind a translucent curtain showering in front of that male.

So... no. There are people out there who will defend a male person being in a room with a 12 year old girl in a towel where that 12 year old girl likely expected to be there only with female people.

So, TW are not women so no reason for them to be in women's spaces - good glad we agree.

Why did you bring TW into the frame?

First, report to staff in the gym. Then if they say he's allowed, ask to see the policy. If she doesn't like the policy, complain to management / head office. Raise awareness in a constructive and evidence-based manner.

What you don't do is start harassing the TW, taking photos in the changing room, shouting at the staff (as she admits on her own posts) and rant about pedos on Facebook.

I agree, he shouldn't be in there and if I was running the gym he wouldn't be. But it's not my gym and their policy is he's allowed.

Fine, their rules, their company. If enough people don't like those rules and bin their memberships (including men) I suspect the rules might change.

@Cazpar Quite telling really when the first thing one is bothered about is the man and whether correct polite womanly protocol has been followed, and not the immediate safety and wellbeing of the girl.

She challenged him, he refused to go. He can deal with the consequences. Women are getting fed up with this shit and your response proves why.

If she hadn’t taken a photo people would have called her a liar. I understand now that staff are escorting him to the women’s changing rooms!
