You know what matters is not that a specific phrase or word or view is deemed unsayable but that the current discussion is on 'what can we say' and 'what can't we say'. There seems to be a tacit implication that there are some thoughts it's beyond the pale to think, or voice, and we're discussing the fine points of where that line should be, and I don't recall us ever having that conversation, as a nation.

They will be justifying it to themselves on the basis of Helen Joyce's comment on the Wine With Women podcast 1 or 2 years ago. She said something like "in a sane world" there would be were fewer trans people - meaning fewer people in physical and psychological pain, undergoing unnecessary surgical procedures, dependent on drugs for life, etc. This remark was taken out of context and twisted to mean that she was calling for genocide. Some TRAs use it cynically, others actually believe that was what she meant. So out-of-context comment made by one intelligent GC woman attributed in intent to another in an amalgam of made-up bogey women.

It's an ongoing issue with having a conversation with someone living in an alternative reality based on selective facts.
