JKR vs Police Scotland?

1000 replies

IcakethereforeIam · 10/03/2024 22:02

Tras are trying to get JKR arrested.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/10/trans-activists-scottish-police-arrest-jk-rowling-crime/

https://archive.ph/5TEU4 highland fling yourself over the paywall, cos Scottish!

Thought to give IW a break.

The Hate Crime...crime(?) comes into force on 1st April, according to the article. The SNP has not engaged with any of the organisations who have expressed concerns and no-one knows what, if any, training the Police have been given.

Trans activists urge Scottish police to arrest JK Rowling over ‘misgendering hate crime’

Northumbria Police last week dismissed a complaint against the author over calling India Willoughby, a transgender TV personality, a male

Quavers anyone?

UtopiaPlanitia · 15/03/2024 15:33

We don’t discuss crisps in my social circle - there are strong feelings on the matter of Tayto Cheese n Onion (Republic of Ireland version) versus Tayto Cheese n Onion (N. Ireland version) and it often leads to rolled eyes and derisive sniffs 😬

I might have some twiglets too.

TWIGLETS!?

Get thee behind me with thy accursed Twiglets!

Now, use a couple to scratch my back - no, up bit . . . more to the left . . .ahhhhh! . . .that's the spot . . . .

Edit for spelling

IcakethereforeIam · 15/03/2024 15:40

I'm putting the toaster on, does anyone...else < sideeye at @Emotionalsupportviper > want marmite on theirs. Or there's jam and <rootling> peanut butter!

WallaceinAnderland · 15/03/2024 15:43

Charged?

Oh dear, I think that is a lie

Harry Potter author J.K Rowling accused of "transphobia"

Transsexual India Willoughby says it is a "hate crime" that Rowling used the word "he" to refer to "her".

Norn Iron Tayto I'd say, but I have to say I'd scoff either

PurpleSparkledPixie · 15/03/2024 15:49

@WallaceinAnderland that's an interesting update. As a non twit I can only see the immediate tweet, was anything underneath it?

Damn... now I've made myself visible in this thread again it means I can't sneak my hand into any of the crisp packets. Although you can keep those pretenders (twiglets) daring to identify as crisps 😡

CleftChin · 15/03/2024 15:51

Any flavour is also acceptable*)

*Except prawn cocktail, obviously

😮

After Salt and Vinegar, or Ready Salted if drinking (scampi thingies also acceptable with beer), Prawn Cocktail are the crisps of the Gods.

I'll never get used to the Cheese and Onion obsession (or any form of onion, or BBQ.. Chicken maybe)

It's very clear that Nazi's quite liked a bit of cross dressing, that it was even accepted (I've seen talk of permits) - but it was being gay that was the issue with pretty much any 'trans' person they list as persecuted for it.

The article itself uses language about IW that IW would object to:

'A transgender broadcaster has filed a hate crime complaint against JK Rowling after the author referred to him as “he” on social media.'

'Willoughby, 58, has also decided to file a police report against Rowling for gender discrimination against the presenter, who prefers to be referred to as it/them.'

'Last year, for example, the transsexual presenter claimed to be “more of a woman than JK Rowling will ever be”'

Regarding the comments underneath, Nordic Time say 'The headline has been corrected' so it must have been changed from 'charged with' to 'accused of' but they have left the original headline on the photo caption.

Naughty, naughty.

Sorry to derail from crisps but

It's very clear that Nazi's quite liked a bit of cross dressing, that it was even accepted (I've seen talk of permits) - but it was being gay that was the issue with pretty much any 'trans' person they list as persecuted for it.

The Nazis persecuted gay men. According to this source, up to 15,000 were deported to concentration camps. 'Most died in the camps, often from exhaustion. Many were castrated and some subjected to gruesome medical experiments. Collective murder actions were undertaken against gay detainees, exterminating hundreds at a time.' The stigma against homosexuality was such that gay men continued to be seen as criminals after the war.

https://www.hmd.org.uk/learn-about-the-holocaust-and-genocides/nazi-persecution/gay-people/

There was no concept of transgender at the time. Magnus Hirschfield had just invented the concepts of 'transvestite' and 'transsexual', but he thought of transsexuals as very feminine gay men. Nobody believed in a 'gender identity', there was no 'non-binary' or 'gender fluid'. Some people we'd recognise as trans today might have been swept up in the persecution of gay men, but they weren't singled out as 'trans'. If you read up on sources that claim trans people were targetted specifically, like those linked from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_people_in_Nazi_Germany, you tend to find a vague lumping together of trans and gay, with no individual examples of persecuted trans people.

"Him" . . . "he" . . . - this is delightful! 😄

CleftChin · 15/03/2024 16:58

And not just blokes - they realised that women were also getting about a bit and went after lesbians too.

But it wasn't because 'trans' it was because gay (or prostitute, or other subversive)

If you are peckish I've got some Fig rolls.

Well, I do like Marmite and by coincidence, I was watching "The Durrells" last night and as Louisa was taking Aunt Hermione back to Blighty for burial, the undertaker asked her to bring back Marmite!
