Coralfox's view on maternity leave is based on the patriarchal views that women should behave like men and get back into the workforce as soon as possible, instead of the feminist view that mothers should have the opportunity to bond and care for their children, be able to breastfeed as long as possible and recover from both birth as well as pregnancy.
Fathers don't have that recovery part, the 9 months pregnant, 9 months recovery. I am for mothers having those 9 months maternity leave and then fathers the option for an additional 3 months, covering the first year of a babies life. This meets the needs of the mother from the biological sense, as well as provides the father with precious bonding time with their children as well, plus the needs of the child to be at home with their parents.
If only governments would support that, instead of forcing mothers to go back when they are not ready, physically and emotionally, based on the idea that if fathers can do it, mothers should do it too.
