You'll be in prison or unable to use services, but you can lie in your cell reflecting on your childcare options.

With your lovely cellmate Karen, who was previously called Kevin.

When are we going to get the monorails?

Spendonsend · 08/03/2024 12:47

FKAT · 08/03/2024 12:39

My Labour candidate has sent me two leaflets this week (1 x 2 pages of A4, 1 x 8 pages of A5).

The crime section ends with "Labour has a plan to halve violence against women and girls." Nothing else. Is it too much to expect to have some detail or a link?

How is it 'unfair' to expect them to outline this plan?

I'm also basing my view of Labour on how they have run London for 8 years, run Wales for 2 decades and run their local authorities - one of which (Birmingham) is on the verge of collapse partly because of the millions it spent fighting unsuccessfully a case of discrimination against its women workers.

Thats fair enough to base it on how they run your area.

A leaflet cant contain the whole lot its too long.

A link to their website is a good idea. They coukd put a link or qr code to each headline.

On their website there is more detail (not much, but more than that statement. There is a tiny paragraph saying howm

The election hasnt been called so i do think its unfair to expect a full manifesto before that happens.

These shpuld be teasers at an early stage.

First and foremost, what I wanted to do was what my body is designed to do, which is breastfeed my baby and keep them close. My needs were mere met, my child's needs were met and there was no need to be stuck at home. We had a month abroad at one point, me and the baby.
Having to shelve all those needs and instincts and get back to the workplace would have been detrimental to both me and the baby.

Coralfox's view on maternity leave is based on the patriarchal views that women should behave like men and get back into the workforce as soon as possible, instead of the feminist view that mothers should have the opportunity to bond and care for their children, be able to breastfeed as long as possible and recover from both birth as well as pregnancy.

Fathers don't have that recovery part, the 9 months pregnant, 9 months recovery. I am for mothers having those 9 months maternity leave and then fathers the option for an additional 3 months, covering the first year of a babies life. This meets the needs of the mother from the biological sense, as well as provides the father with precious bonding time with their children as well, plus the needs of the child to be at home with their parents.

If only governments would support that, instead of forcing mothers to go back when they are not ready, physically and emotionally, based on the idea that if fathers can do it, mothers should do it too.

how many of you are choosing who the vote for purely on a definition of a woman? Have you not looked at the shit show this government is? There’s so many threads on here complaining about the state of the government and the resources we have but then here people are voting for them as they ‘know what a woman is’?
Why are you voting on one issue?

Oh dear - you've not read the thread have you 😂

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/03/2024 13:22

As far as I know in a democracy people can vote on whatever basis they chose eg all the ppl who voted for Boris to get brexit done even though he was clearly & had always been a lying narcissistic bellend who couldn’t run a bath let alone a country

ScrollingLeaves · 08/03/2024 13:26

But by excluding trans women, you are anti trans

…………………………………..

It should not be permissable to claim that any group are a sinister, predatory threat.

a. This is not about any group. It is not about men who identify as women.

It is about the biological sex classification male.

b. It is not about saying all males are a sinister, predatory threat.

Beowulfa · 08/03/2024 13:26

Have I missed the big fat shiny game-changing socialist policies from Labour? Like renationalising the railways/water?

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 08/03/2024 13:28

We will introduce new specialist domestic abuse workers in 999 control rooms and put specialist rape investigation units in every force across England and Wales – so that early opportunities for prevention and protection are not missed.

Yet we'll house male rapists in women's prisons because they say they are a woman, we'll give any man that fancies it unfettered access to female spaces because he says he's a woman, and if any actual women complain we'll call it a hate crime. FFS Labour do better

Honestly? Because I think this is an absolute emergency. I know you can say what about the NHS, etc. but I'm serious that self ID and making it illegal to challenge trans women in women's spaces will create a situation where a woman's experience in our society is going to constantly be informed by thinking. Am I in danger here? It will be how you feel walking alone at night but in toilets, changing rooms, rape crisis centres, NHS wards, prisons, on school trips. I am hoping to be able to vote Labour because I'm hoping they'll come to their senses but if not I will have to spoil my ballot paper. I will never vote Tory.

Well said. Plus labour's complete silence about the safeguarding disaster of socially transitioning thousands of mentally vulnerable children along with labour supporters reframing safeguarding children as "right wing bigotry " makes the party a direct hazard to children and young people.

Until they return to being a responsible party governed by the needs of children and society they won't get my vote back.

Zyq · 08/03/2024 13:44

It's highly unlikely that this will lose them enough votes to swing anything other than the most marginal constituencies. The feminist vote is hardly going to go to the Tories given their record over the last 14 years.

ScrollingLeaves · 08/03/2024 13:45

ForCoralFox · 08/03/2024 11:38

I don't think I did, actually.

And bravo for that. Trans men matter too, as do non binary people.

Trans men matter too, as do binary people.

As females by sex they would be covered by maternity rights.

@GreenYoshi12 You certainly do a lot of focusing on THE TORIES on this Labour thread. Just think of all the positive things you could be telling us about Labour.

They're going to build a monorail system, it's clearly in their policy meme. What do you want, blood?

ArabellaScott · 08/03/2024 13:56

I find it downright odd that anyone thinks that effective ways to change someone's mind consists of hectoring and smearing them.

berate us, deride us, scold us, chastise us! Oh, please! Women LOVE that shit.

You're doing it to make yourself feel virtuous. It doesn't work. It just give you a righteous thrill. Knock it off.

Labour positives

  • not the tories
  • wont lie and then try to cover it up like with PPE
  • will give proper funding to the NHS
  • provide proper funding for schools
  • mental health support

how about you give a positive of the tories apart from ‘they know what a woman is’
