Well I count myself as GC and tbh JKR haste-tweeting something that is incorrect is offputting. I expect GCers to do due diligence.

Tbh I’ve not watched it. I see on this thread most people disagree with you ref what he said. One of whom is a speech therapist I think. 🤷‍♀️

I had to close my eyes to hear "him" as I kept reading/hearing "them". I was quite surprised how clear it actually is when I did that.

Why would he say "them" exactly? That's not Willoughby's identity and I'm pretty sure Willoughby has complained about this type of thing before.

I watched it without sound and then listened without the subtitles, and he says 'him'. Twice. Then I turned it off.

I couldn't find the link (not logging into twix for this, gave up that habit in 2012) but there must be a point where his mouth either makes the open H sound or the tongue on top teeth TH sound. As our Speech and Language Therapist said on another thread, they're obviously different mouth shapes. Anyone who can speak can check for themselves in a mirror.

I was reminded of a meme I once saw which my English pals had to ask me to translate "I dinnae always say 'Did ye aye' but when a dae, it's cos ye didnae."

Then I did an image search for 'Did ye aye meme' and it's RICH PICKINGS. You may well be seeing some of them in the next hours and days...

I'd count Simon Edge and WingsoverScotland as GC and both say it's them, as do a lipreader and an audio editor with 40 years' experience. He also says them at the start to refer to JKR and IW collectively and it's identical. It's a sociolect, close to "em", so the TH mouth movements are neither here not there. He's of an age where he uses gender-neutral pronouns pretty fluidly. I mean, it's not a hill I'm going to die on I'm saying what I (and other people[ heard, not what I expected to hear.

I don't know if you've seen, but the mask slipped after midnight and he called JK the c word, twice.

I was just looking at a screen grab of him calling Joanne Rowling a cunt. I was shocked I tell you. What professional investigative journalist would do such a thing that looks more like a MRA move?
