Apparently 100% not satire.

Emotionalsupportviper · 07/03/2024 16:06

Perhaps we need one for "Make cosplaying as a woman a hate crime"?

Froodwithatowel · 07/03/2024 16:22

<Vast amounts of hyperbolic assertion of how people not doing exactly what you say and enacting a fiction for you is hate and disrespect and Other Things Too>

<Total bypassing of how this compels speech, beliefs, rejects other people's identities, feelings and perceptions, and is madly coercively controlling, but this apparently is definitely not hate, and is absolutely right and normal. Cos service humans, and what else are they for?>

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2024 16:24

I think that happened in Allison's, too.

All the ones I've personally watched online. It tends to be "non binary" pronouns that trip people up.

Text:

'We call on the UK government to make it a hate crime for a person to deliberately and wilfully misgender any individual.
Deliberately misgendering someone Is a form of transphobic hate. It undermines a person's gender identity which in turn harms the person being deliberately misgendered. A person's gender identity plays a massive part in how a person sees themselves and how others perceive them. Misgendering someone on purpose only serves to rob an individual of a large part of their identity. Due to the mental suffering this inflicts onto the person being targeted it is clear that deliberately misgendering someone is a form of abuse and should be treated as such.
What counts as deliberate misgendering?
Deliberate misgendering is when a person who knows someones correct pronouns repeatedly and continually uses incorrect pronouns when referring to them. The definition includes the deliberate incorrect use of gender based salutations like (but not limited to)"Sir", "Ma'am", "mate", "lady" and the terms trans identified male (TIM) and autogynephilia (AGP).
There should be no excuse for transphobic abuse in our society. Everyone deserves to be respected and treated with dignity. Trans, non binary and gender non conforming people are all too often the victim of deliberate misgendering and this needs to stop.
The UK government must not allow hate to thrive and deliberate misgendering must be viewed as a form of hate motivated abuse.
Please sign this petition to tell the UK government that it's not okay to allow transphobic hate to thrive and flourish.'

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate ...

Jfc

Imagine women had such power to define what people called them in society? Just think of all the delicious hate crime prosecutions for being called : love, girl, Bobby's Mum, Mrs John Smith, etc let alone all the unwelcome shit that gets shouted at us in the street.

As an aside, men have been telling us for DECADES that "guys" is a gender neutral term. Such a relief we can use that term for anyone without fear.

Thanks for the RMW timing. Will watch.

This is Sophie Sparkles according to Glinner, the author of the petition. I'm still naive after all these years, assumed it was some young impressionable girl.

Riding crop and a.....clothes peg(!), classy. Sophie seems to like being hurt and humiliated. If misgendering was so painful you'd think Sophie would be all over it.

Is Sophie Sparkles the partner of some other MTF TRA?

I hope it's someone calling themselves Terry Tinsel.

SinnerBoy · 07/03/2024 16:53

So IW has been calling an NB couple Mole and Badger. Does that make IW Toad of Toad Hall?

Parp, parp!

Is it just me who finds it extremely funny that Fox and Owl were offended at being called Badger and Mole? It's not as if Fox and Owl are sensible names to start with.

There's a few minutes of the Rev Bernard Randall at 2.24, the guy who was referred to prevent and, eventually sacked, for a sermon in which he said you didn't have to go along with LGBT beliefs if you didn't want to. It just cuts off after a few minutes. I never watch GBNews, it seems a bit all over the place.

Hi all - we're happy to clarify a few things. When we introduced the guidelines, the aim was always to strike a sensible balance between freedom of expression and hosting discussions where folks with differing views would feel comfortable taking part. Deliberately misgendering, especially if done so as a personal attack will pretty much always be deleted when reported, as it's just not in keeping with those aims. We're not out to punish anyone and we really don't think there's anything to be gained by being overly prescriptive either. If your use of language is necessary to illustrate your point then it's much less likely to be in breach of our guidelines. As with everything, we look in context and on a case-by-case basis.

It's always fine to get in touch with us if you have any questions about our moderation - [email protected]

@BeckyAMumsnet
I think most of us here use pronouns to describe sex, not gender. We can't be misgendering if we are not even talking about someone's gender. Why should we be punished for continuing to use the language that we always have, just because some people have decided to attribute different meanings to those words?

If a group of people suddenly decide that the word shoe actually now means hat, the people that say someone is wearing a hat on their head can't be in the wrong for not saying that someone has a shoe on their head. The shoe believers may really, really want people to call it a shoe, and think that they are being attacked if people say hat but that doesn't amount to harassment.

In FWR (and the wider world) the vast majority are hat people and you are making us say shoe. Let the shoe people say shoe on their sites and let us be truthful.

The word shoe now looks so wrong as I have written it so many times .

RMW underwhelming in RMW's legal observations on GB tv. Wibble wibble about the workplace and other ishoos. Hardly endorsing IW's fantastical claim.

I quite like that woman presenting with the potato man. She's quite sharp.

I was quite pleasantly surprised that RMW was pretty much saying that it’s a high bar to prove any of this shit to be worthy of police action. It’s not in a workplace, which would be a different matter.

twitting about hawking for attention, it kind of is IW workplace these days. Pay is a bit meh but no skin off my nose

SabrinaThwaite · 07/03/2024 17:42

Yeah, you’d think if Willoughby was that upset about Twitter stuff that Willoughby would just delete Willoughby’s Twitter account.

I remember there being a bit of a flounce a few months ago, but that didn't last more than a few hours.

I’d hate to think how many hours a day Willoughby spends on Twitter. Must be a full time job these days.
