As Spain has such a fixed idea about masculinity it may mean there more transvestites and transwomen because of there being less place in n society for more feminine males.

Similarly, even years ago in Italy, I remember seeing many glamorous transvestites out at night.

It would be interesting to know more.

I don't think those fixed ideas have filtered down to the younger generations, where there is a lot of gender non conformity now.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:23

You're as literal about age as you are about gender

I don't believe in "gender" as anything other than sex stereotypes. I know what age is. It's odd that you think "middle aged" doesn't apply to you. No, in your 40s you are no longer "young". Sad but true.

Don't be disingenuous @PP82

"I'm sure the Spanish will be devastated not to have one more English tourist this summer. English tourists are their favourite, dontcha know?"

That was tongue in cheek. No one is going to give a shiny shit if pp comes here on holiday or not, but I obviously wasn't actually accusing them of being a lager lout.

Again, so literal. Like your entire movement.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:25

From the person that thinks any man calling himself a woman is literally no different to an actual woman.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:28

I'm sure the bulk of the younger generation in Spain know full well what a woman is, like they do everywhere else, fashionable identity politics aside.

You can define me as middle aged or old if you wish. I don't know any people in their 40s who think of themselves or live like they are middle aged, and I think it's sad for you that you do. But you do you.

pickledandpuzzled · 22/02/2024 13:28

@Goldwork that was indeed a nasty insult. Fat Old hag with saggy tits would be similarly nasty, but I can’t imagine anyone being sentenced for that.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:28

How does one "live like they are middle aged" then?

Not literally no different. Just no different in the ways that actually matter.

As I said earlier, the slur used is a very common Spanish slur for gay men, I don't imagine the prisons are full of men who have used it without any trans context.

No, true. You can generally be as rude as you like to or about women sadly.

Oh I don't know. Your insistence on claiming the label for yourself paints a particular mental image I suppose, which may or may not be accurate.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:33

I'm not "insisting", I'm just not deluding myself.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:34

But again, how does a middle aged person behave?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:35

We can all do this. I'm sure everyone has formed one of you, which may or may not be accurate.

40s ceased to be middle aged at least 20 years ago. But if you want to self identify as middle aged, that's up to you.

Christ you are making some shit up. I don’t care if you don’t like it but 40 is middle aged. Early middle age I’ll grant you, but like it or not it’s middle aged.

Zodfa · 22/02/2024 13:40

Anyone who is in their 40s and still anxious to be seen as "young" needs to grow up, quite frankly.

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/02/2024 13:43

The Oxford English Dictionary defines middle aged as between 45 and 60.
They also define woman as adult female human.

I'm not 45 yet.

Language is dynamic and the meaning of words changes over time.

And when you are 45 you will be middle aged. You can’t identify out of that

Or will we end up with 25 year olds declaring they are teenagers or 10 year olds who believe they are adults.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:49

I'm quite sure this poster does think she can identify out of middle age altogether, just by not "labelling" herself. She's a fan of this kind of magical thinking.

Edited

I don't care. I've always lived exactly how I wanted regardless of labels. I'll continue to, and will continue to help others in their endeavours to do so.

Flamingo I think that ‘or’ hypothesis has already happened to some degree!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 13:52

@PP82

What's the difference between how you live and how you think other middle aged people live? I'm genuinely curious.

You do realise that the rest of us didn’t suddenly change the minute we hit 45?
