There was a thread a couple of weeks about this case that got deleted. Obviously it's an ongoing trial but it's as we suspected with the defendent.

Murder-accused tells court parents did not accept her as transgender

Violence against the person: 82% male
Sexual offences: 98% male.

(From the link above)

Also, what is the source of this figure?

Government data

Government data

Is it a coincidence that the figure you quote is exactly the same as the number of arrests (not convictions or number of people arrested) of women for violence against a person?

Government data

Which government? What data?

Datun · 21/02/2024 15:47

Flamme · 21/02/2024 15:18

In 2022-23, 56,868 women were convicted of violent crimes.

Can you post the link.

98% of sexual crimes are committed by men. And 90% of violent crimes are also committed by men.

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 15:52

I assume pp meant this data:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/377453/females-arrests-type-of-offense-england-and-wales/

Here, I'll helpfully give the full quote:

'In 2022/23 the most common offence people in England and Wales were arrested for was violence against the person, at 251,311 men, 56,868 women 71other and 821 unknown.'

Highlighted this was for arrests not convictions. And we'll politely not mention the 5 x more males arrested for VATP.

Datun · 21/02/2024 15:54

I don't understand the quote. What is other and unknown?

Cailleach1 · 21/02/2024 15:58

Also, it is by gender! So, whatever you’re feeling in your water. Carte Blanche for men who say they identify as women to add to falsely add to the women’s stats.

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 15:59

Yep. Data's fucked, but it's the best we've got.

I assume 'other' is all the other genders, and 'unknown' maybe data entry errors?

From gov.uk - the bolding is mine, as being the parts that might explain the above. I presume that 'unknown' is because sex was not provided at some point in ygd data collection procesz.

Police powers and procedures: Stop and search and arrests, England and Wales, year ending 31 March 2023

"2.6.3 Sex of persons searched

In this report, we refer to sex rather than gender of people stopped and searched. ‘Sex’ can be considered to refer to whether someone is male or female based on their physiology, with ‘gender’ representing a social construct or sense of self that takes a wider range of forms.

The data collection gives 4 options for the sex of the person searched: female, male, other and unknown. ‘Other’ may include people who define themselves as non-binary or transgender. However, only 20 of the 44 police forces recorded any stop and searches of people defined as ‘other’ sex. This suggests that different recording systems used by police forces have different levels of detail to which the sex of the person searched can be recorded. Additionally, it is likely that recording includes a mixture of physiological and personal identity.

The following analysis only includes records where the sex of the person searched was provided and excludes vehicle-only searches."

Thank you Cher, that's helpful.

Although for God sake, recording sex as other?

This shit can't end soon enough.

If Scarlet is found guilty, at least he'll go to a male prison. If the crime had been committed in Scotland, it's possible, as it didn't involve violence against a woman, he'd be assessed as not posing an 'unacceptable risk' and sent to a women's prison. Although as he's trans and the crime was committed before his 25th birthday, he'd possibly just get a slap on the wrist. Scotgov are also introducing, or have introduced, laws restricting any reporting on crimes committed by children, though I don't know the age cut off. Possibly, in Scotland, we'd know nothing about this crime.

as he's trans and the crime was committed before his 25th birthday, he'd possibly just get a slap on the wrist.

Hang on, hang on . . . just a minute . . . let me get this right.

In Scotland you aren't considered able to commit a crime with full intent before you are 25 YEARS OLD and could quite possibly effectively get off with it

BUT

you are capable of choosing your gender, and heading for irrevocable physical and mental damage, when you are FOUR?

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 16:21

Yes.

Emotionalsupportviper · 21/02/2024 16:22

Seems reasonable.🤔

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 16:23

It is entirely reasonable if one places the desires and interests of fetishists over the needs and interests of absolutely everyone else.

Re the figures quoted by @Flamme and shown by @ArabellaScott here is some interesting research. 14 years old but some interesting quotes that may shed light on this. Effectively they arrest women more often (this could be because in domestic abuse a woman may use a weapon and a man may not need to?'

'Men are responsible for most cases of domestic violence, but women are three times more likely to be arrested for incidents of abuse, research reveals today.
A report into domestic abuse and gender by Bristol University found that the majority of cases involved alcohol misuse, that women were more likely to use a weapon to protect themselves and that children were present in the majority of cases.'

'It found that 48% of the cases were related to couples still in a relationship, 27% involved violence after separation and the rest involved couples in the process of splitting up.
Some 83% of men had at least two incidents recorded; one man had 52. In contrast, 62% of women recorded as perpetrators had only one incident recorded, and the highest number of repeat incidents for any woman was eight.
Men were significantly more likely than women to use physical violence, threats and harassment, and to damage the women's property; women were more likely to damage their own.'

No idea whether there is more recent or extensive research or whether these relate to life as we know it in 2024. (Can't see why not).

Women three times more likely to be arrested for domestic violence

While the vast majority of perpetrators of domestic violence are men, women are arrested in three of every 10 incidents and men in only one of 10, a study says

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 16:32

<cough> softer targets, held to a higher standard <cough>

Propertylover · 21/02/2024 19:34

@Emotionalsupportviper yep, bonkers isn’t it.

PonyPatter44 · 21/02/2024 20:17

In Q2 of last year, around 93% of those sent to prison for violent offences against the person were male. This figure stays broadly the same across the quarters and across the years. Women may be getting arrested for assault in substantial numbers, but they arent going to prison for it, which suggests that the nature of the offences is less serious.

As usual, sexual offending is overwhelmingly committed by men - in the same period, around 97% of those admitted to prison for sexual offences were male.

If anyone is interested, this is publicly available data, which is useful information.

Does violent offences include misgendering or being untoward to paedophiles? Or is it actual as opposed to literal violence?

@Emotionalsupportviper thank you for that. I've never before seen the human wreckage left in the wake of these acts.

...or ahead of them actually. In fact, I'm honestly struggling to discern any change.

Still...those oysters looked lovely. I've always wanted to be waited on by a fuzzy blob.

I understand the prosecution's closing speech in the trial of Scarlet Blake was yesterday but can't find any mainstream media reporting of it. Surely the BBC and Sky etc haven't got cold feet after the evidence that came out earier this week? They were quite interested at the start of the trial...

There is one article behind a paywall on the Oxford Mail website (their live blogs from the other days of the trial were quite detailed). Anyone see anything else from yesterday, the closing speeches or summing up?
