There was a thread a couple of weeks about this case that got deleted. Obviously it's an ongoing trial but it's as we suspected with the defendent.

Murder-accused tells court parents did not accept her as transgender

Scarlet Blake, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with the murder of Jorge Carreno who was found in Parsons Pleasure.

There was a list of names in one report - I am sure Cindy was one 😬

I was wrong - it was "Candy". The Daily Mail said there were 6 names but only quoted this and Scarlet.

Has Blake's actual real name ever been reported? Clearly, it's not Alice Wang.

Blake previously went by the name Fangze Wang and later Alice Wang

From here:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/02/23/scarlet-blake-cat-killing-guilty-jorge-martin-carreno/

But it's not clear if that was his original name.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/02/2024 15:31

Is Ashlynn Bell not going to get any punishment for the part he played? Granted Jorge's murderer might not have been caught without him. I think Bell likely reported Blake to screw him over, not due to a troubled conscience. Jorge would still be alive if Bell hadn't encouraged Blake, egged him on, and then celebrated with him after the murder.

Bell got his jollies with the cat, the murder and the manipulation. Then got another satisfying revenge on his batshit partner. And, what, sits at home laughing and wanking about it. Then, when that gets boring, name changes and does it again?

Maybe I watch too much crime drama, but could there have been a deal to get the information?

IcakethereforeIam · 26/02/2024 15:41

I possibly also watch too much crime drama🤨

If there was a deal wouldn't that have to be disclosed?

He's out of our Police's jurisdiction. I suspect they'd have to come up with a crime committed in his own jurisdiction and get the local police to charge and arrest him.

I think I'm shouting 'it's not fair' on the internet. Because it isn't. Bell's hands aren't clean and there should be...something for the part he played.

my complaint: (I have asked for a reply)

BBC news giving misleading information

Just watched BBC lunchtime news with Ben Brown on the story of the murderer Scarlet Blake. Ben referred to Blake as a woman, when he is in actual fact a biological man. He wasn't even referred to as a 'transwoman', therefore leading viewers to believe the crime was committed by a biological woman. This is obfuscation of the facts, and I am appalled that the BBC would mislead the public in this way. What happened to speaking the truth?

The comments were consistent in criticising the Times for misrepresenting the facts.

RebelliousCow · 26/02/2024 16:02

I wonder what Janice Turner would think about using she/her pronouns in this case?

I think sometimes they genuinely can’t cope with the volume of comments.

But they need to examine why they feel the need to indulge the fantasies of a murderer, who according to the judge’s summing up admitted he had a personality disorder.

I also note that the Times seems to have skipped over the bit about identifying as a cat. Why?

duc748 · 26/02/2024 16:08

Presumably Bell has done enough to have committed a crime under US law?

Even if he has, the law enforcement agencies in Colorado would have to investigate and prosecute.

Would they bother?

duc748 · 26/02/2024 16:30

I have no idea, obviously. I just wonder if the question has been raised in the US. Cos you can't see extradition being an option.

PaterPower · 26/02/2024 16:58

He incited murder. It would be reassuring to think that would be of interest to the US authorities, even if the victim was in a foreign country.

Colorado is a blue state. I very much doubt they will take action against someone with a trans identity on behalf of Terf Island.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 26/02/2024 17:22

As much as we would all like to see Bell tried for his part I think we have to remember that America do not like any other country touching their citizens. We couldn't even get a statement off that American who did a hit/run outside a military base as America smuggled them out in secrecy. RIP Harry Dunn.

I hope Blake is our defining moment for media pronouns/sex like Bryson was for Scotland's prisons.

I'd like to know who decided Blake has the strength of an unfit female.

I'd imagine that it was his barrister, playing fast an loose with the truth.

SinnerBoy · 26/02/2024 17:42

Can anyone explain what a community not is on Twitter? I've just had one for liking a LK Rowling post; it was a bit scolding.

Blake said that when he was on the stand

A community note is a note that can be added to a tweet (now a "post") it's supposed to be a way of pointing out inaccurate or misleading information. How do you mean? Did you tweet a message of thanks, rather than liking her tweet? And a TRA wrote a note complaining about fake news?

CriticalCondition · 26/02/2024 17:54

I think the complaints to the BBC might be getting through. This was briefly reported during R4's PM programme headlines a few minutes ago. Blake was referred to as a 'transgender woman who has been told she will serve a life sentence in a men's jail'.
Still a 'she' and still confusing but an improvement on 'woman'.

pickledandpuzzled · 26/02/2024 17:59

I wonder if there are shocked naive people under the impression a woman has been sent to men’s prison due to trans identity.

This article from 1998 was posted earlier on another thread.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/162216.stm

Back in 1998, a male transsexual was referred to as a 'transsexual man'. Now a male transsexual/transgender person is referred to as a 'transgender woman'.

It's hardly surprising that people get confused.
