There was a thread a couple of weeks about this case that got deleted. Obviously it's an ongoing trial but it's as we suspected with the defendent.

Murder-accused tells court parents did not accept her as transgender

Scarlet Blake, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with the murder of Jorge Carreno who was found in Parsons Pleasure.

Louise Tickle nails it in that letter.

Or, as in the case of the reporting by the BBC and others on the egregious Naomi / Nathan O"Brien, copy and paste the lying media release from Greater Manchester Police.

Noting that TVP did not use any pronouns in their report. Possibly after recent reprimand from their PCC for using 'woman' for a transwoman who was in court for sexual assault of a child.

Isnt a polycule sexual?

A group in a polyamorous relationship.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2024 14:13

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2024 13:23

That was Blake himself.

So the media is taking the word of a murderer, fantasist and sadist and reporting it as fact.

WearyLady · 26/02/2024 14:17

This is outrageous. I've complained to the BBC.

Embarrassed Shame GIF

Are you suggesting a member of the Sacred Caste would utter an untruth?

Excellent letter. If anyone's on Twitter, the original Guardian article is archived, which may be helpful for Louise.

It's here.

How many 'unfit females' have murdered a male stranger or perpetrated vile animal cruelty? It's insane this is being given any credence, just like the dumbest arguments about including chemically hobbled males in women's sports.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2024 14:34

'"You adopted the persona of a cat. You talked about the difficulties to have had of transitioning since childhood to live as a woman and your troubled relationship with your parents.
"All of this was part of an elaborate attempt to rationalise what you have done and shift responsibility to others.
"It is not the fault of a society that didn't accept you, it was not the fault of your parents.
"The decision to kill was entirely yours."'

Judge is making his speech now.

@Boiledbeetle I knew it predated austerity. There's probably all sorts of stuff going on that we don't know about. Tipping off the news yourself was an excellent idea. Sad that it was necessary but something to bear in mind for people in a similar position.

The Telegraph has a link, live reporting Scarlet's sentencing.

I did it as I wanted to ensure that his grandchildren when they were old enough would be able to find out why grandad just suddenly disappeared from their lives one day, and that the odd memory they had of being asked strange/embarrassing questions by the police when they were little finally made sense! Because I'd bet those kids were never told the truth about their grandad.

But yeah when you think of the amount of courts in this country and the terrible state that journalism and local newspapers are in I bet we only hear of a tiny fraction of the shit going on day to day.

Zebracat · 26/02/2024 14:41

Daily Mirror report makes no mention that Blake is transgender/ male. I am so angry.

GlomOfNit · 26/02/2024 14:42

dammit, I've been trying to avoid too much detail about how the cat died. NOT that the cat torture is the important part of this case, but I'm trying to keep those details, at least, out of my head. Just found out a few extra things I didn't really want to know from the Judge's speech.

And also, that it seems the prosecution and judge think Blake may have held Jorge's head under water. Looks like there's no conclusive evidence but it's been mentioned as a possibility and I assume the judge wouldn't have done if there hadn't been grounds to consider that.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2024 14:55

24 years minimum, and 6 months for the cat.

Boiledbeetle · 26/02/2024 14:59

I honestly can't see a point where this guy could be rehabilitated enough to leave prison. But no doubt that won't stop the parole board releasing him at some point.

pickledandpuzzled · 26/02/2024 15:02

Does that mean 24 years before parole?

Rightsraptor · 26/02/2024 15:04

From the brief excerpt from the judge's comments above, it seems the judge wasn't taken in by this man's shit. I've been increasingly losing faith in the judiciary, Tan Ikram definitely not helping there, but maybe this one's OK

I asked a journalist what happened to a newspaper that refused to play the trans game and accurately reported someone's sex. Nothing happens, apparently. So they are choosing to lie.

How morally bankrupt can they get? So - thank you to Louise.

Boiledbeetle · 26/02/2024 15:04

pickledandpuzzled · 26/02/2024 15:02

I would hope it would mean 24 years before they consider him for parole.

PaterPower · 26/02/2024 15:12

Zebracat · 26/02/2024 14:41

Daily Mirror report makes no mention that Blake is transgender/ male. I am so angry.

Nor the Sun.

The Fail does, but still uses “she” and “her” to describe the murdering bastard and his (evidence suggests) equally vile “girlfriend”

GlomOfNit · 26/02/2024 15:13

Thank feck for that. Though, from the tone of the judge ever since he started his summing up, it's clear that he wasn't at all taken in by this horrible man or his defence.

I also note that the investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Jon Capps, in his statement today thanking his team and paying tribute to Jorge's family, was VERY careful not to say 'she' or woman at all. It's all 'this defendant' and 'Blake'. Are people involved in this trial being asked to bite their tongues/lie??

Jon Capps:
Thames Valley Police full statement after conviction:

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Jon Capps said: “Today’s verdict marks the end of a long and complex investigation. I know that many will want to focus on the actions and behaviour of this defendant.
“There are several aspects of this case that have been truly disturbing to see, hear and deal with. This defendant showed calculated cruelty. The acts Blake has been convicted of are barbaric and chilling. The murder was premeditated with total disregard and distain for life.
“Thankfully crimes such as these are incredibly rare. I want rather to focus on Jorge and his family and pay tribute to them and the enormous dignity they have shown throughout this ordeal.
“They have put their trust in my team. I cannot begin to imagine the pain they feel. As the evidence has developed they have had to try to come to terms with this not only being a murder, but the nature and character of this defendant, something that I know has served only to compound the grief they feel. There can be no beginning to understanding this senseless act..."

Melroses · 26/02/2024 15:13

The Crown Prosecution Statement does not use any pronouns at all.

Chersfrozenface · 26/02/2024 15:18

Has the penny finally dropped with the TVP and CPS how ghastly using "woman' and "she/her' for creatures like this sounds to the general public?

When will the criminal justice system as a whole and the media cotton on?

duc748 · 26/02/2024 15:19

Has Blake's actual real name ever been reported? Clearly, it's not Alice Wang.

Melroses · 26/02/2024 15:21

There was a list of names in one report - I am sure Cindy was one 😬

Merrymouse · 26/02/2024 15:26

And also, that it seems the prosecution and judge think Blake may have held Jorge's head under water. Looks like there's no conclusive evidence but it's been mentioned as a possibility and I assume the judge wouldn't have done if there hadn't been grounds to consider that.

Despite having the strength of an ‘unfit woman’.

Without the details of sex the story is completely different.

And in this case I don’t think it’s possible to separate ‘identifies as cat’ from ‘identifies as woman’. If one is part of a psychotic fantasist personality disorder, there is no reason not to conclude that both are.
