The person who did a dive in Jack Monroe’s inconsistencies about her income has put together some information about Stephanie Hayden

https://grift.watch/stephanie-hayden/

I can’t go back and copy and paste bits as my browser is playing up and will erase the post but it’s eye opening!

Stephanie Hayden

⚠️Stephanie Hayden has threatened to sue me for defamation if I publish this. I publish this in the public interest as a citizen journalist given Hayden is a lawyer, and a controversial self-styled public figure, whose conduct has raised many questions...

I'm sure I saw on twitter yesterday that SH is in court again today.

Yes. With Sean Doyle. I am not sure why, but that case is today.

I wish I had thought to see if it was live streamed.

SH has made one of their statements...

Can someone screenshot the Twitter posts for us Luddites at the back please?

LoveAHamSandwhich · 14/02/2024 12:31

Thanks. Will read.

SH has made one of their statements...

Can't publish until a further order of the court just sounds like it's been postponed pending filing more documents?

SH has made one of their statements...

That was astoundingly quick - the High Court must be on speed-dial.

That seemed unlikely odd to me too.

Vaz66 · 14/02/2024 12:58

Yep, hooded claw’s story is horrendous.
Allegedly he was sent a photo of his Grandaughter who was kidnapped, what kind of psycho does that? Well someone who believes they are untouchable definitely would.

AlisonDonut · 14/02/2024 13:11

SH does seem to be completely untouchable.

Until one day, SH isn't.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/02/2024 13:14

The latest statement from SH has been clarified:

"Regarding that statement, it's not quite how it's portrayed.

Yes, I did apologise to the High Court because I mistakenly published a tiny part of a document I was not supposed to. It was an honest mistake and I freely admitted it as soon as I became aware.

I have no shame in apologising when I've done something wrong.

And yes, I agreed to an order from the court not to publish that document again (not that I intend to because, like I said, it was a mistake). I have great respect for our courts

I have nothing to hide."

Yeah the way that statement from SH was worded made it look like the guy had done wrong and was grovelling to the court after being reprimanded.

'Formally apologise' to the court. What other way to apologise is there? Casually?

nauticant · 14/02/2024 13:20

Soz. LOL.

Datun · 14/02/2024 13:23

My bad <spits out gum>

Clarice99 · 14/02/2024 13:25

My immediate thought was:

'Get a fucking life'

Unhinged is an understatement. I have sympathy for every single person on the receiving end of that person.

RoyalCorgi · 14/02/2024 13:35

Why does Hayden keep getting away with it? I don't understand it.

SH has made one of their statements...

That is such a great statement!

It is so clear that Hayden has implied that it is about all the article in their very wide and open language. Yet, it was about a small part and the article is very much still up and accessible to the public.

Hayden isn't going to win in getting this taken down, I don't think. But must posture to make it look like Hayden indeed has this power to remove all the bits of their personal history that don't fit Hayden's carefully curated desired history. This is very instructional on the limits of the law.

MatchingBedding · 14/02/2024 14:13

Is there a compulsion at play here? All this attention being given to SH but nothing actually coming from it? SH isn’t winning these cases and is harming themselves financially and mentally, is it about frightening and threatening the defendants? Getting attention? Using the law for validation? It isn’t normal behaviour.

popebishop · 14/02/2024 14:25

Whoever SS is, their attempts at insults and threats are pathetic.

I wasn't aware of this Twitter account before but I'll be reading now!

Perhaps SH enjoys the humiliation?

Legal Gengar
@LegalGengar
A vexatious litigant declaration (Civil Restraint Order) requires two or more cases targeted at the same defendant and the court to declare such cases "totally without merit".

So far, the court has not found any claim to be "totally without merit" so a CRO cannot be applied for.

It is within the power of the Attorney General to apply for a civil proceedings order under s. 42 of the Senior Courts Act 1981 to achieve the same thing without the above criteria needing to be met, but that has not happened yet.

This is true but realistically the AG only makes s42 orders for the most vexatious litigants (e.g. those who have had a number of CROs and/or who keep having their CROs extended). The AG only issues about 1 or 2 a year usually. CROs are normally appropriate - they last a few years and give people a chance to change their ways, whereas the s42 orders are a more permanent solution.

I've managed to obtain and extend a few CROs in my work before, but I've never managed to get a s42 order (although I can see one person that I have had dealings with on the list of s42 vexatious litigants now, but I didn't make the application).

Not generally harming themselves financially as using the Help for Fees scheme and not paying for legal representation makes it exceedingly cheap to do.

Although there are reports of sums being due for cases that have been lost.

The Fruit Farmers have been keeping a tally I believe.

SH doesn't need to win in court. To gain financially, SH merely needs to open a case, pursue it part of the way (causing massive legal expense and stress to the defendant) and then offer to accept a settlement out-of-court in exchange for discontinuing the case.

It would certainly be cheaper to write SH a cheque than to continue the case all the way to the courts, which may well explain why SH has discontinued so many cases.

Vaz66 · 14/02/2024 15:36

Afaik, HC is determined to see it through to the end in court, has nothing to lose and is not asking for funds to aid the case.
I hope there is some metaphorical floor wiping.
Even if the litigiant loses, there is seemingly no financial penalty, he has never paid a penny to anyone it seems. Quite how somebody gets high rate PiP and manages to swan around the world is quite miraculous.

SH is basically the UK version of J.Yanniv. Hopefully it’ll all backfire at some point.
