It seems most employers have not embraced the TQ despite their corporate virtue signalling. Recruiting managers are giving the They/Thems a swerve.

The thing is even if you are totally happy as a colleague to respect their they/them pronouns, you will inevitably trip up because using he/she is so ingrained in our language. They/them is mainly used in the plural rather than singular. People will make mistakes unintentionally. This could cause all manner of problems for employers if the person takes offence.

Was it in Allison Bailey's court case where the barrister for garden Court chambers referred to a TW witness as "he" when he was questioning Allison, and Allison corrected him with "She".?

It's happened a couple of times, in different court actions, IIRC.

So if your own lawyer can't remember what you're claiming to be . . .

Maya also had to correct an opposing lawyer who'd forgotten a male witness preferred they/them pronouns. Grin

Trying to establish if a non binary Libra is the same as a non-librarian?

Oook!

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2024 17:46

Ah, you mean a non-Bornean arboreal librarian? I see.

I’m dreading the day they become he.

I’ve seen this happen in a lot of cases, including people I know, know of/kids of friends and people on social media. Girls or women become “NB” then “transmasc” then “a trans man” like they’re on a conveyor belt. The way it escalates suggests it’s not about your “true self” but about keeping on needing more renewed validation or a further escape from the self each time it becomes apparent that the new identity hasn’t solved all your problems.

it’s also interesting that transactivists/genderists are not keen on detransitioners changing their minds but it’s fine to change your mind as much as you like as long as you’re becoming more trans.

The likelihood is high that someone who identifies as “NB” will continue to change their identity and demand everyone keep up. I wonder if some employers’ concern is that they’re worried about their valued less woo-brained staff making a mistake or refusing to play along or daring to roll their eyes, and being persecuted/reported/sued.

Yes. Detransitioners face horrific hostility from soi-disant trans rights activists.
