Starmer: "trans-inclusive" conversion therapy ban, "modernise" the GRA, all hate crime to be aggravated offences as part of making every child "proud and confident"

Exclusive in Diva, following a reception at a LGBT+ Labour event in Parliament on 29 Jan:

https://diva-magazine.com/2024/01/29/exclusive-keir-starmer-lgbtqia-rights/

"“We’ll strengthen the law, so every category of hate crime is treated as an aggravated offence,” Starmer said. “We’ll cut NHS waiting lists for LGBT+ people waiting for urgent physical and mental health care. We’ll modernise the Gender Recognition Act. We’ll implement a full, trans-inclusive, ban on all forms of conversion therapy. We fully support the view that conversion therapy is psychologically damaging abuse.”

“We are committed to a decade of national renewal and will work with all the organisations in this room tonight so every child can feel proud and confident in who they are, to stand up for LGBT+ rights at home and abroad and to get Britain’s future back.”

The mention of children is unclear but must have a background to the full speech? LGBT Labour hasn't tweeted about it but others have. Rayner and Dodds also in attendance.

I'm not impressed by Kier Starmer, though. I know someone who has a squirrel that visits their garden. He spends a lot of his time on the fence so they refer to him as Kier.

I didn't read it as a personal attack. 🤷‍♀️

Rosie Duffield's monstering at the hands of Russel-Moyle in the HoC, for example.
Wasn't it Miriam Cates?
He's still a p*k though.

Kucinghitam · 04/02/2024 08:50

So:

There are only 6 non-gender-believer Bad People in the entirety of the internet, and everyone else are just sock puppets.

Also, nobody cares about gender-belief when casting their vote because Loads of Things are More Important.

But also, the Good Parties are enthusiastically supportive of gender-belief because it's Really Important to Being Good and fighting the Culture War against the Bad Parties.

And yet, the Bad Parties are deliberately raising gender-belief in their Culture Wars because somehow it is a vote-winner.

Also, the Good Parties don't need the votes of the Bad People because of taint (and see above).

Also, the Bad People who say they are reluctant to vote for the Good Parties because of gender-belief are lying and were always Bad Party voters, so they are double irrelevant.

And furthermore, if the Bad People don't vote for the Good Parties, it'll be all their fault if the Good Parties don't win.

I'd appreciate some coherence, but I realise that's a lot to ask of Good People being Very Busy at being Righteous.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 04/02/2024 09:39

I think you've summed up many many threads there Kucinghitam

I particularly like the ‘good parties are supportive of gender belief cos they are just lovely and not doing it for votes at all’

i have heard ‘anyone saying they will vote tory has voted for them all along and is too scared to say on an anonymous forum that they are going to vote tory’ many many times,

Rosie Duffield's monstering at the hands of Russel-Moyle in the HoC, for example.

He crossed the benches to sit close to her and glare intimidatingly.

SinnerBoy · 04/02/2024 09:55

Some further madness from Labour's Charlotte Nichols:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13042735/Dead-people-change-gender-Labour-MP-Charlotte-Nichols.html

Labour MP Charlotte Nichols has suggested dead people should be able to change their gender - as the growth of gender ideology has been slammed as 'patently absurd'.

That was Miriam Cates and it was absolutely disgraceful.
However now I've read a bit more about her, her attitudes and some of the activities at her church I can understand why as a gay man he might absolutely loath her.

duc748 · 04/02/2024 12:05

Trouble is, the Bad Party really is pretty bad, so it's a lose-lose. And I wouldn't care to live in a country run by Miriam Cates either, but that is no excuse whatsoever for LR-M's oafish behaviour. And it's not like it was a first offence for him, either.

AdamRyan · 04/02/2024 12:10

No agreed, he's awful.

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2024 12:12

AdamRyan · 04/02/2024 12:10

No agreed, he's awful.

But... What did the head of the Labour Party the wonderful KS do about LRMs despicable behaviour? Considering a good many people complained?

NoWordForFluffy · 04/02/2024 12:13

AdamRyan · 04/02/2024 12:10

No agreed, he's awful.

So why didn't Keir do anything about his behaviour? The inaction from him in response speaks volumes. And you think we can trust him with reducing VAWG? Of course we can't, judging by the silent acceptance of LR-M's disgusting behaviour.

I’m sure many can come up with excuses why men loathe women

It means they get away with more aggression though

ResisterRex · 04/02/2024 12:18

I'm sure I wouldn't characterise a man's despicable and unparliamentary behaviour as being uncontrollable due his sexual orientation. Because it would be offensive BS.

The things that also strikes me about LR-M is that he is/was a Corbynite, FFS! So it's not like he was on Team Starmer, a trusted lieutenant, so as to speak. So Starmer had no reason not to discipline him.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2024 12:25

She said something I didn’t like, thought something I don’t agree with

Men get to be aggressive

Eugh no thanks

I think we can trust Starmer to reduce violence against women and girls due to his past performance as DPP.

Do you think Russell-Moyles apologised and wrote to Cates to apologise out of a sudden fit of conscience? I think he had a stern word from the boss

Lloyd Russell-Moyle

MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle sorry for tone in gender debate

Lloyd Russell-Moyle was told to "moderate his language" after accusing a Tory MP of "transphobic" remarks.

No, that's not good enough. He needed disciplining and Starmer should've spoken publicly to condemn the behaviour. Quiet words in ears is simply inadequate and, frankly, pathetic.

I'll judge Starmer on his current performance, not historical. He's a failure at protecting women.

Thing is the TRAs are running into increasing problems. Because once the Green TRAs bankrupt the Greens their name is going to be dirt in any sane political party. That is why the Shahrar Ali case verdict on Friday is the biggest thing to watch right now.

Because that will allow gender crits in Labour to go on the offensive. Labour are so lucky that Rosie or countless other gender crits in the party haven't sued them for sexism. They would win.

Once the Greens are blown apart by this the waves are going to smash into Labour, Lib Dems and SNP. See as they start to panic as a tidal wave of angry women and sensible men crash into them.
