London Bridge railway station political gender flags - how to complain

There is a lot of concern on twitter over a set of flag illustrations on a pillar at London Bridge Station.

https://www.networkrail.co.uk/stories/london-bridge-station-celebrates-lgbt-history-month/

Sex Matters have now issued a formal complaint to the authorities about it see letter below.

We have written to Andrew Haines @networkrail and @LordPeterHendy about the intimidating political display at London Bridge station

You can make a complaint here https://communications-crm.custhelp.com/app/ask?var=complaint

This has resulted in the discovery that Shane Andrews, Network rail’s LGBT+ lead, who is also a scout leader (and a trustee of the Scouts), an independent police custody inspector, a school governor - used abusive sexist/homophobe slang all over his social media. He went on a huge deleting spree, but copies of his tweets are being shared widely.

I hope he will have the MBE removed.

The Palace obviously does no due diligence about its awards nor who it invites to Garden Parties and such!

I'm beginning to regard these awards as an index of suspicion and wonder if they're any more than a Third Sector stepping stone to the carousel.

From rubbing shoulders with various people on committees and boards, etc, I think it's the other way around. One position begets more, and more until - "Wow, what a good person you are!* - have an MBE!"

*and I'm sure a lot of them are, but some of them really aren't and are in it for themselves

I complained to Network rail about this. They have just closed the case with no formal response except to say they are aware and won't comment further. Cheeky fuckers!

is it possible to do a FOI to see how many complaints they got and how many they fobbed off?

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 10/02/2024 11:04

I would expect they won't disclose due to it being about an individual

Can you believe what London Bridge Station did for International Women's Day!

Wow!
And I've only just realised Mumsnet's changed its logo colours. How observant am I...

Is that even something 'official' from TfL, or maybe initiated by an individual employee? I wonder, cos of the lack of explanatory text.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 08/03/2024 18:25

I think that's been put up by a feminist passenger. Maybe even a mumsnetter. If it was a TfL thing, it would be the whole pillar.

duc748 · 08/03/2024 18:34

That's what I was thinking.

Whoever did it - well done!
