There is a lot of concern on twitter over a set of flag illustrations on a pillar at London Bridge Station.

Sex Matters have now issued a formal complaint to the authorities about it see letter below.

This has resulted in the discovery that Shane Andrews, Network rail’s LGBT+ lead, who is also a scout leader (and a trustee of the Scouts), an independent police custody inspector, a school governor - used abusive sexist/homophobe slang all over his social media. He went on a huge deleting spree, but copies of his tweets are being shared widely.

It's a big waste of money that could be better spent improving services.

I go into LBR quite often, and quite apart from the political and misogynistic aspects to this, which I have complained to Network Rail about, it offends me aesthetically. It's a lovely building carefully designed with a subtle colour palate. They stuck those monstrosities up in this place:

I would really like every traveller who passes through London Bridge to be quizzed on which flags they can identify, aside from the rainbow one. I highly doubt more than about 5 people know what any of them are.

The mind boggling arrogance of the article in the OP: the railway network staff want to “educate people about (alphabet) communities and flags”. Oh just fuck off. People go to the station to catch a TRAIN not to be “educated” on the weird and wonderful world of alphabet flags.

We can’t see all the way round the pillar to be reassured that it’s not there, but perhaps one of our readers will pass by and report back.

Why on earth would they display a flag representing paedophilia? It's the polyamory flag.

Attitudes like this remind me of the 80s, when gay men and lesbians like me were lumped in with paedophiles. I thought society had moved on but sadly, clearly not.
