The pope says 'gender theory' causes divisions

'Peace requires respect for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Attempts to introduce new rights, which are not always acceptable, lead to instances of ideological colonization that create divisions rather than fostering peace, as in the case of gender theory.'

The biological reality that people have thoughts?

Do you apply the same to age? If a man feels like a young girl he is

If not why not?

This thread has given me a right laugh. Your responses to Prawn's 'internal feelings' are brilliant! I'm trying to think about when I last had an external feeling.

I think being smacked in the face with a wet kipper would be an external feeling.😁Or being beaten round the head with a blunt argument.

PrawnLiberationFront · 16/01/2024 19:47

Hepwo · 16/01/2024 19:40

Why do men with internal lady feelings need a fauxgina?

Perhaps you should actually ask a trans woman who's had this surgery why she felt she needed it instead of living in this anti-trans echo chamber where you all sit around and reassure each other you're right and everyone else is the enemy?

fedupandstuck · 16/01/2024 19:48

For clarity, no one is denying that people have feelings, ideas, beliefs, or whatever word you want to use to describe what goes on in peoples brains.

The issue that is relevant is the claim, whether implied or explicitly stated, that gender identity is a feeling that is unverifiable and unfalsifiable. Also that everyone has this feeling, and that it is more important than facts about one's body when it comes to determining someone's sex.

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2024 19:49

PrawnLiberationFront · 16/01/2024 19:32

I genuinely don't know what else to say to people who are floundering around pretending to struggle to understand what a feeling is.

So gender identity is 'a feeling'.

That's actually very simple and straightforward. Thanks.

I'm curious as to what the lady feeling is men have?

You did say upthread in response to this question that there's no universal lady feeling, and you also said whatever they are feeling is authentic.

So are men authentically ladies because of non universal authentic lady feelings?

It's becoming clearer.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/01/2024 19:49

I take it that you can't give a logical, rational answer then.

fedupandstuck · 16/01/2024 19:49

How is it an echo chamber when you are here, echoing too?

Genuinely, what the hell did you think it was? Have you been labouring all these years under the belief it was some type of small mammal?

Yes exactly, and that idea is not universal, so it is a belief and the basis of an ideology, @PrawnLiberationFront

Hepwo · 16/01/2024 19:51

PrawnLiberationFront · 16/01/2024 19:41

People seem to be panicking at the idea that feelings exist in your head, but I'm supposed to believe in this mysterious unifying "ideology " that apparently all trans people subscribe to? Bit of a double standard.

Right we are getting somewhere, lady feeling is in the head?

fedupandstuck · 16/01/2024 19:51

Why is a subjective, unverifiable, unfalsifiable feeling of relevance to anyone else?

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2024 19:51

We don't and can't base society and regulations and laws purely on 'a feeling'.

We share the world with other people. We all have subjective feelings but we have to consider other people, too.

Any chance you could answer this. They are both internal feelings

Do you apply the same to age? If a man feels like a young girl he is

StragglyTinsel · 16/01/2024 19:52

It’s interesting that prawn’s response to a comment from the pope about gender ideology fostering divisions is to… demonstrate that by fostering division and generally being antagonistic.

I’m with the people wondering how exactly we got to the position where politics and debate is so skewed that anyone, including the pope, saying pretty bland and ordinary things seems like it’s radical.

None of this is indicative of those positions being inherently ‘conservative’ or ‘right wing’. It’s more like the world having gone so weird that activists are trying to position you as evil right wing nightmares for agreeing with the pope when he asserts the earth is round.

Froodwithatowel · 16/01/2024 19:53

Is gravity an extremist right wing position yet? 🤔

Oops it's lady thoughts now!

Men have lady thoughts!

Heck!

Oh ok so "echo chamber" is also a concept that you don't understand. Sorry, I really must remember not to assume you all understand simple concepts.

An "echo chamber" is a place where everyone agrees with each other and reinforces each other's prejudices and continuously repeats the same information. It's very comforting to spend time in one because it's full of people telling you how right and clever you are, but the problem of course is misinformation gets amplified and repeated, you never get challenged or meet other perspectives, and prejudices become entrenched.

I'm certainly not being echoed with here.

PrawnLiberationFront · 16/01/2024 19:50

I've never had anyone describe it so clearly before, and I've asked quite a lot of people. This is genuinely very useful.

And another one! This board isn't religious or right wing, but go pope! The man who heads an ideology that prevents women from having any control over their own fertility, and that they should stay in abusive marriages at all costs!
Who would have thought the pope would be GC!

Ffs. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so damaging....

It's interesting how you only seem to be able to argue by attributing statements to me that I haven't made. It's almost like you're actually arguing with a straw man.

StragglyTinsel · 16/01/2024 19:55

Just because you are not being echoed, doesn’t mean that everyone believes or says the same things.

It just means no one agrees with you, even if we disagree with each other. And possibly that collectively posters disagrees with you more than they disagree with each other.

The nice thing about FWR is generally that we often disagree with each other.

Froodwithatowel · 16/01/2024 19:53

Is that the African swallow or the European? One leans right, only I can't remember which. Maybe it depends if it's going up or down.

@PrawnLiberationFront are you ignoring the question because it’s too hard to answer?

Can a male who feels like a young girl enter spaces with other young girls and have access to what they have access to

If not why not?
