Yeah in response to someone being twattish. So what, she's a decent MP who cares about her community, we could do with more like her.

ArabellaScott · 31/12/2023 15:15

Elected representatives using misogynistic slurs is revealing.

She's an extremist who is incapable of calm, rational discussion.

Could do with more like her? Nah thanks.

Apart from anything else she isn't very bright and has no understanding of her brief

So a reasonable response to someone being twattish is an elected representative being twattish and insulting back? how old is she, twelve?

Clearly doesn't care about that part of her community that wants to preserve women's spaces, though.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/12/2023 15:23

She's not forgiven Kemi for showing up her lack of thinking, insight and concern about safeguarding children. She's on a Lloyd Russell-Moyle spittle flecked trajectory of insulting all of the electorate who have more knowledge & concern for children than her (that'll be the majority):

Decent MPs don't tend to block women who give a shit about child safeguarding. She's elected to serve ALL her constituents and that includes women and children, instead of pushing abusive shit like gender ideology.

She might also need reminded that TERF is a slur and hate speech.

NitroNine · 31/12/2023 15:27

🤦‍♀️

”My NY Resolution is to block Jews/Muslims/Hindus/vegans/humanists/athiests/Catholics…”

Two of those would probably be considered ok by lots of people; but leaving that aside - how does the woman not hear herself? They have to have all been briefed that TERF is a slur (I believe a judge compared it to the P-word?); & that the women labelled as much are protected by the Equality Act. Not so much shooting herself in foot as an autokneecapping 🤦‍♀️

ResisterRex · 31/12/2023 15:29

I think this is a fair point, not least as Osborne has also today said "we" (her plus supporters?) "must resist the divisive war on woke".

As a public servant, paid for by us, what better way to "be better" than to - erm - engage in social media backturning on the public? I can't think of one!

morningtoncrescent62 · 31/12/2023 15:31

I think the original message to which she responded was goady and silly. So what. People can say goady and silly things on social media. As an elected representative she should have ignored and moved on, not responded with playground-level name-calling, alienating many of the people she's supposed to represent.

PronounssheRa · 31/12/2023 15:42

She has form for ill judged behaviour

He she is with Linda Riley, showing their disapproval of Sharon Davies.

Oh dear. So a woman communicating the needs of women and girls, ie. female people to an elected representative of a UK government is not worthy of being listened to by that MP?

Good to know. That communications with an MP must only be of the topics that that MP and Judy agree with.

GauntJudy · 31/12/2023 15:12

Half of her community (as an elected representative in a democracy) is female. A majority of those would be classed as terfs, as defined by a belief in the importance of bio sex rather than feelings as the basis of laws.

She has therefore either: admitted that she has resolved to stop representing a large part of her community; or revealed that she only gives a flying shite about a very specific community.

In either case she should stop pretending to be a democratic representative, stop taking the money and resign.

Or grow the fuck up and step out of her echo chamber.

In neither case do we need more like her.

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:02

This woman is supposed to be an MP. There to represent her varied constituents, not to act in such an unprofessional and disrespectful manner.

Waitwhat23 · 31/12/2023 16:04

On a related note, the amount of elected representatives who use block lists to make sure they can't hear any dissenting voices from the people they are meant to represent is quite astonishing.

During the Rutherglen and Hamilton West byelection, I clicked on the Twitter account of the SNP candidate, Katy Louden, to see what she had to say. I was blocked. Had never heard of her before the election and had never previously interacted with her. And I was far from the only one.

The SNP lost that byelection in quite a spectacular fashion. Perhaps if they'd been less keen on blocking women.....

I'd say she's unprofessional and disrespectful. People in such responsible public positions should not be posting on twitter in such a way.

Furthermore her performance at the recent 'Women and Equalities Committee' was embarrassing and juvenile. This is what hides beneath Starmer's carefully orchestrated public messaging; don't be in doubt.

Wow! The middle finger for Sharron Davies because she stands up for women's sports. Honestly, the conduct of so many MPs and public figures is shocking.

That's what happens with those with no rationale or arguments to articulate. They resort to abuse - it's all they have.
A bit of a shame when they're elected representatives but she's just one of Starmer's many emotionally incontinent MPs to manage.

Froodwithatowel · 31/12/2023 16:14

What can you do with someone who just identifies out of people who mention issues that challenge her?

Well. Not making them an MP or letting them run the country is a damned good start.

My NY resolution? Not to vote for anyone who lacks the capacity to cope with reality.

Theinnocenteyeballsinthesky · 31/12/2023 16:32

I remember when politicians generally had a certain amount of poise and gravitas

KO probably thinks gravitas is a film with George Clooney

Floisme · 31/12/2023 16:41

Kate Osborne isn't just an MP, she represents Labour on the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

I think it's time for Starmer to remind his party that he expects them to support single sex spaces.

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:44

Most Labour MPs are still trying to frame the issue of 'women's rights versus tans ideology' as a " Tory Culture War". They seem unable to see it in any other way. Everything has to be placed in a box or categories according to tribal allegiance. When you buy into one idea or policy you are supposed to subscribe to all of them.

They aren't half going to get a shock when this issue persists when/if they get elected.

Crouton19 · 31/12/2023 16:59

She is emotionally and intellectually adolescent.

She really is, she’s an embarrassment and I’m not sure why anyone would vote for her.
