Yes, I'm sure that's it. I hope this bloke doesn't just get written off as a one off. That it's perfectly obvious any cross dressing fetishist, deluded or otherwise, can say they're a woman.

Post Isla Bryson I think many more are aware now.

What also concerns me is that more men who do have very dubious porn driven 'second lives' will go 'underground,' wipe sm slates clean etc .

Which is an issue for safer recruitment rules which now look at Google and social media.

#Blokeinawig clearly has been very foolish around social media presence and clearly isn't very bright.

I'm feeling suddenly nostalgic for the old days of traditional Tory sleaze: a married MP piously lecturing the House on the decline of moral standards due to the liberal left, then caught shagging his secretary. Seems quaintly old-fashioned now compared to the types attracted to and encouraged by the Greens.

Me too. We all derived a lot of innocent fun from the good old Tory sex scandal. Bring it back, I say.

One thing that puzzles me is why someone like Poulton, who previously stood as a council candidate for the Tories, wants to stand for parliament as a Green candidate. Presumably there is no chance of winning Bromsgrove for the Greens so why bother? I know you could say that of any Green candidate, but presumably some of them stand out of conviction. That doesn't seem to be the case for Poulton/Viner.

Attention seeking?

Another feather in your wig cap as to proof that you're a good egg?

WarriorN · 12/12/2023 09:47

The problem in the greens is that there aren't enough people who would be very suitable who are willing to stand in many roles.

And a lot who aren't suitable.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/12/2023 09:52

I think it is attention seeking, and delusion. After all, thinking he can win that seat for the Greens is not actually the most delusional thing about this bloke. That is something that isn't completely impossible. Him being a woman and a lesbian....not so much.

Of course, he's also getting his ego stroked by lots of allies, he's so stun... etc, by the raised profile this is giving him.

RoyalCorgi · 12/12/2023 09:57

A PP mentioned Poulton's inappropriate Pinterest jokes. Someone has made a screenshot of the others. Quite remarkable for someone who wants to be an MP:

I quote:

"Bernard Manning used to use that watchtower joke so quite old."

That's hardly a recommendation!

What’s the other meaning of tea room? #PreferNotToGoogle

Ingenieur · 12/12/2023 10:01

@pickledandpuzzled

It's akin to cottaging.

pickledandpuzzled · 12/12/2023 10:03

And all these ‘not representative of trans’, just a few bad apples etc.

It really doesn’t matter. The existence of accommodation for ‘really nice trans’ allows ‘not representative of trans’ to operate and abuse women and children.

If you leave a gate standing open to facilitate some deserving folk, you leave it standing open to predators and all.

A safeguarding lead sharing paedophile jokes. The one about the 28-year olds is utterly utterly sick 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

I think someone found this blokes Pinterest, which is full of sissy porn?

Bet his ex-wife is delighted that he’s now using her maiden name.

WTF.

I wonder if joining the Green Party is part of his humiliation fetish.

I agree. I was just surprised that Wehn would steal a joke from someone like Manning. You could make an argument that when Manning used it it was straightforwardly racist, whereas when Wehn uses it, it's a satirical comment on Germany's past. Possibly.

I am not Jewish, but I feel very strongly that the Holocaust is not a joking matter. I suppose I feel that Sacha Baron Cohen or Mel Brooks can say things that Henning Wehn can't. Is that hypocritical?

I laugh still whenever someone tries to say that the majority of women are fully supportive of prioritising gender over sex when sex matters. Because the polls have shown always when the questions drill down to reflect the outcomes of that ‘support’, it disappears.

This Greens candidate has effectively stripped the next layer for the UK public. One of the first major layers was sport, and that was stripped back by Hubbard and Thomas and by the time Bridges melted down it was well over.

Next came Bryson who did the same thing for stripping back the prison issue. Sadly then there was Miller too. Bryson also started shredding the pronoun layer too.

Now, this is shining the light on female representation. Bringing the discussion to show female people are not yet achieving equality in some workplaces, including parliament. And this candidate, is showing the mockery of how some parties accept additional male representation to achieve that. Showing that under some of these ‘inclusive’ policies is harmful reductions in equality.

It wasn’t really a joke that that group of male people did it in Mexico.

This situation has the added extra of again, showing clearly the sexual fetish side of male transition. It has shown this with bright light.

Eddie Izzard was not really getting people over the line because of Izzard’s past history. I expect though that if anyone tries say that Izzard is adding female candidates to the 50:50 initiative, the public will be against it. I think that if Izzard won any awards as a female in the future that that will really turn the public against Izzard as well.

I suspect Poulton will shine more light on pronouns too and rip that layer back more.

It is a slow process, but operation ‘Let them speak’ is working here in the UK when it hits mainstream media as it has been on these issues. It does mean though that woman and girls are being harmed.

Bernard Manning's grandfather was Jewish. Did that make it OK for him to tell Holocaust jokes? No, I don't know either.

pickledandpuzzled · 12/12/2023 11:32

There was a trans identifying male candidate in Nottinghamshire that got a place on the Jo Cox scheme to encourage women in politics.

disclaimer- my memory is appalling- it may not be Jo Cox’s scheme. It may have been local government rather than MP. Definitely Notts (Rushcliffe?)

Datun · 12/12/2023 11:34

Yep, and the homophobia. Given all that wank about him being a 'proud lesbian'.

I wonder if Izzard will be asked if he's a lesbian.

Cant wait.

Ingenieur · 12/12/2023 11:57

@NoNoNanette

It's certainly not hypothetical for there to be double-standards for something like this. Someone with direct personal experience with a topic will have a deeper understanding of troublesome aspects of a topic such that they can better navigate around them. Also this level of experience can be a matter of degrees, it need not be binary.

However I don't think any topic is inherently off-limits, even the Shoah.

On Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld and Ricky Gervais are discussing the topic, and two jokes stood out to me, one where the punchline takes aim at the arrogance of praying to a god that didn't intervene to stop the Holocaust but will help you find your car keys. The second probably needs transcribing in full:

"A Holocaust survivor dies of old age and goes to heaven. God says "I don't usually let Jews in, but if you make me laugh I will let you in

"The man tells a Holocaust joke, but god doesn't laugh. The man says "Hmm, I guess you had to be there".

Both jokes have layers of humour, without diminishing the suffering of those who experienced it, and poses interesting philosophical questions to the listener, as all good humour does.

Yes there was. It was Lily Madigan.

Whatever happened to Madigan? Did his political career not amount to much in the end?

Gettingbysomehow · 12/12/2023 12:18

A proud lesbian!! My eyebrows are in my hairline right now.

bitofashit · 12/12/2023 12:28

surely the context here is that he's attacking Germany's history of racism and antisemitism.

Exactly this - people missing the point of the joke.

Madigan didn't actually get accepted onto the Jo Cox programme. Sophie Cook did, however, and there was another one whose name I can't recall.
