I'm wondering, even if you are a staunch lefty..... would revoking the GRC persuade you to vote conservatives?

No

PonyPatter44 · 06/12/2023 21:35

Not a fecking chance. They've overseen this mess for years, why do they care about sorting it out? Also, this particular shower of Tories couldn't tell the truth if they tried, so I have zero faith that they have any real interest in the GRC. Kemi Badenoch might, but she is just one slightly less venal scunner in a whole bucket of scunners.

mejon · 06/12/2023 21:36

No. I'm in mid-Wales. It's a 2 horse race between the LDs and Plaid here. No other party gets a look-in. I shall be spoiling my ballot paper as I have done for the past few years as I cannot and will not vote for any of them.

lifeturnsonadime · 06/12/2023 21:39

If Labour revoked the GRC I would vote for them. My question to them is why won't they?

Don't Labour think women's rights matter?

If not why not?

EggNoggin · 06/12/2023 21:40

Nothing but a lobotomy would make me vote for the Tories.

hockeysticks89 · 06/12/2023 21:44

Yes. Single policy voter right now

PurpleBugz · 06/12/2023 21:59

I'm torn.

I watched Kemi Badenoch today and I absolutely would vote for that.

But I work in early years and have watched quality and standards erroded by less funding and support. I started when tony Blair was all "every child matters" and lots of good stuff was happening for disadvantaged kids and SEND kids. I then had a disabled child who is not getting an education because of the cuts by conservatives. All that support was there when I started working now under the guise of "inclusion" they are excluding the most vulnerable kids. And I'm now living on benefits because I have a high needs child with no school place for kids like him who can't be "included" in mainstream and childcare like I used to provide does not exist because it's not funded so here I am lifetime if benefits ahead. My family is unfortunately not unusual many SEND kids failed by this system. They are really really fucking over disabled kids right now it's disgusting.

HOWEVER provision for autistic kids is soooo captured. I could vote based on NHS and education needing more funding only to get a school place for my child who promptly push gender identities at him.

I also have a daughter in school being negatively effected by gender identity of other kids and experiencing sex inequality. She's autistic and has MH struggles. Getting this shit out of her school is very pressing for me.

I'm not following who has what policies. I need to pay attention. Will labour help my sons situation? I don't know

Wuman · 06/12/2023 22:03

Yes. Sorry, but yes.

PurpleBugz · 06/12/2023 22:03

What happened to KJK party? She said she would start one. I remember thinking I must vote for them/join them if they want to save the NHS and properly fund education and SEND provision

TempestTost · 06/12/2023 22:11

Probably.

The devil's in the details of course. I'd have to think they were serious about it, and I do actually think they are fairly serious about this topic.

I don't think dealing with GI is going to be easy, strategically or policy wise, so it's also a question of how they would do at that, pragmatically. I think there is some talent there but I'm not wholly confident.

On the other hand I think Labour would not try to do the right things, quite possibly would go in the other direction, and they are actually more likely to take a sloppy shit approach to policy and legislation on social issues even if they did try to do the right things.

I don't see there being a huge difference between the two on economics so that isn't going to pull me one way or the other much.

SaffronSpice · 06/12/2023 22:14

Yes

Peterpieper · 06/12/2023 22:15

Having watched Kemi today in Parliament and the opposition, I’ll definitely be voting conservative

Clingfilm · 06/12/2023 22:16

Nope

WitchWitchWitch1 · 06/12/2023 22:24

Yes definitely. Single issue voter now.

pronounsbundlebundle · 06/12/2023 22:30

Yes. But I'd probably want to see some concrete action not just words - like getting rid of Keegan at education and putting Cates or Badenoch (or anyone with the slightest understanding of or interest in the welfare and safeguarding of children) in.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/12/2023 22:30

No.
They're liars who'll say anything.
Even if they mean it at the time of the Manifesto, everyone knows Sunak will not be leader of the party for long and we don't know who will be the next leader and what direction they'll go in the future.
There's a terrifying rape culture in the party.
They're a shower of incompetent, misogynist, fuckwits.

catduckgoose · 06/12/2023 22:40

No, never. The Tories' economic policies harm women so much more than any GRA repeal would benefit. Just look at who took most of the hit from austerity.

3peassuit · 06/12/2023 22:43

No. I can’t ever see a time when voting Tory would be an option for me.

amter · 06/12/2023 22:44

Yes!

anyolddinosaur · 06/12/2023 22:45

It would need to be in the manifesto and they would need to take more action to deal with some of the current issues before the election. I'm not happy about the watered down school's guidance.

I'm also worried about who will replace Sunak. I cant think of a competent candidate, certainly not Truss or Patel.

PurpleBugz · 06/12/2023 22:03

I think it is still at the registering stage atm.

WallaceinAnderland · 06/12/2023 22:49

I would vote for any party that will repeal the GRA. Women's rights cannot progress if we cannot clearly define ourselves in law.

Startingagainandagain · 06/12/2023 22:50

Don't be daft...

The current Tories are a bunch of self-serving, corrupt, lying, Fascism-loving, incompetent criminals who have brought the country to its knees.

They don't care about gender issues either, they will just say on the topic whatever they think will get them a few votes.

Lovedthosechips · 06/12/2023 22:56

No. The horrors they are causing in education and health and society are too great. Their ambition to increase wealth disparity is an abomination. Ideologically they are appalling.

AutumnCrow · 06/12/2023 22:57

No, I'll never vote Conservative.

The government should repeal the GRA because it believes it is the right thing to do.
