Would you vote Conservative if they said they will repeal the GRC?

I'm wondering, even if you are a staunch lefty..... would revoking the GRC persuade you to vote conservatives?

The tories waggle all these culture war policies around but it's their economic policies that are what they're really about. Deregulation and becoming more like america where the richest can get much richer.

They don't give a fuck about gender really. It's just window dressing to get votes and they'd change course at the drop of a hat.

The only way I'd ever vote conservative is tactically to keep out someone like the bnp, and then I'd be holding my nose.

Spendonsend · 06/12/2023 19:29

No. I just think they are so terrible for the economy and such liars. Their record on disability is so poor.

It's not that i dont care about womens rights - its just some rights become theoretical Under the Tories . Like you have the right to a female carer but thereare no carers at all, the right to justice but no legal aid. this happens all the time with my SEN son, all these rights to things that dont exist because of austerity.

I feel like id rather take my chance with actual services being provided and fighting for safeguarding, than knowing if the service existed there was no gender recognition act to negotiate.

Staunch lefty, but YES.
The GRA is based on dangerous nonsense that is harmful to vulnerable young people. Laws should not be based on a fantasy.

Comefromaway · 06/12/2023 19:31

No, it’s an important issue but it’s not the most important issue by a long shot.

Watchinghockey · 06/12/2023 19:34

Yes. Always voted Labour in the past. Don't want to vote for any of them at the moment and this would swing it for me.

WellThisIsFun1 · 06/12/2023 19:36

No. I wouldn't even vote for them if they gave me a basket of kittens

FizzingAda · 06/12/2023 19:36

No. Never. Non. Nein.
I'd rather be beaten with a wet haddock.

Bellablahhole · 06/12/2023 19:37

Yes. They are the only main party to be remotely interested in defending sex-based rights and protections. Once we lose these, we'll never get them back.

Kemi Badenoch's speech today was magnificent!

SerendipityJane · 06/12/2023 19:37

Why on earth would anyone except a desperate Tory bot even imagine in their wildest dreams that even if elected, a Tory government would do anything it had promised to get your vote ?

Anyone who believes that quite possibly shouldn't have a vote.

The best argument for not voting Tory in 2024 is 2019-2023,

Radiatorvalves · 06/12/2023 19:37

Absolutely not. There are a range of issues with which the government should be dealing. And this shower of whatsits have no integrity whatsoever. They are incompetent and need to go. I’m not going to vote on one issue like that (and broadly I agree with jkr).

Sexnotgender · 06/12/2023 19:38

Potentially yes.

TrainedByCats · 06/12/2023 19:39

Yes, this ideology has poisoned so much it has to be stopped

Agree. And that applies for women too. It’s a terrible law.

TidyDancer · 06/12/2023 19:39

I really don't know tbh. It's incredibly important and if it was the only issue I gave a shit about I 100% would vote for them if there was a cast iron guarantee this would end. But I care about things the tories don't so I honestly don't know what I'll do.

PermanentTemporary · 06/12/2023 19:39

No. I don't trust this bunch.

SerendipityJane · 06/12/2023 19:40

No. I don't trust this bunch.

Judging from Mr. Jenrick, even their own minsters don't

Camdenish · 06/12/2023 19:42

No.

Tories! Defenders of Women. That's why there's so many sexual offenders in their parliamentary Party. They know what a woman is. And also what she is for.

The irony being, the current Conservative party is pretty much what the BNP were in their "heyday".

There is nothing that would convince me to ever vote Tory. Complete and utter scum the lot of them, and even this nonsense that they are somehow the party of fiscal responsibility is just that, nonsense.

Labour know what a woman is when she says no, just look at their treatment of Rosie Duffield

LizzieSiddal · 06/12/2023 19:50

The Tory’s have been in power for 13 years and their disgraceful lack of willingness to protect women’s rights is just one of the many reasons why I detest the lot of them.

Ramblingnamechanger · 06/12/2023 19:50

But if Labour offered that it would be a different matter…

AngelAurora · 06/12/2023 19:53

Will never ever ever vote for them. I hate them.

I’d say that’s doubtful as the party that introduced it originally. As woeful as it was. They talk about ‘defending’ various acts

ComfyBoobs · 06/12/2023 19:55

Yes.
