Would you vote Conservative if they said they will repeal the GRC?

I'm wondering, even if you are a staunch lefty..... would revoking the GRC persuade you to vote conservatives?

No.

But I won’t vote Labour either (pointless, Red Wall super safe seat).

Noghtsaving · 06/12/2023 19:57

Yes.

waterdusky · 06/12/2023 20:03

They have such a good track record with keeping their word and not making promised they can't keep before a key election...

Coyoacan · 06/12/2023 20:04

I don't have a vote there but they've had how many years to do that and haven't. Is the Tory party famous for keeping its election promises?

TheHereticalOne · 06/12/2023 20:18

Yes. Used to be a Tory voter but have been put off in recent years. This would absolutely sway me.

SwordToFlamethrower · 06/12/2023 20:19

Possibly. Depends on Labour. If they would, I'd deffo vote for them.

HagoftheNorth · 06/12/2023 20:20

Instinctively, I think not, but I watched Kemi Badenoch today, and I thought she came over pretty well. Doesn’t mean I believe everything she says, but she definitely inspired more confidence than those on the opposition benches

Lucienandjean · 06/12/2023 20:22

YES.

BrownTableMat · 06/12/2023 20:33

NO.

RandySavage · 06/12/2023 20:33

Maybe.

Think about it this way- I wouldn’t vote FOR a Tory party, but I can imagine myself voting AGAINST any party that believed in current TRA ideology. I couldn’t vote for a party that believes stuff that is scientifically impossible no matter how much I agreed with anything else they said.

If voting Tory meant keeping out an mp who claimed that men can become women, or that they can see into peoples souls, or that people can be born in the wrong body, or that defining yourself as something means you are that thing, then yes I can see myself doing it.

Always voted Labour until now.

MargaritaThyme · 06/12/2023 20:35

No.

I am not, ever have been & never will be a single issue voter. The closest I have ever come to this was the 2017 & 2019 general elections in which only a party that proposed to stop Brexit would have got my vote.

The overriding priority at next year’s election will be to get rid of this Tory government which has failed the country in innumerable ways. Therefore, I will vote for whichever candidate is best placed to beat the Tory in my constituency. Not that my vote will make any difference because I live in one of the safest Tory seats in the Midlands…

PomegranateOfPersephone · 06/12/2023 20:35

Yes

I have never voted Conservative before and never thought I would but if they plan to repeal the GRA and my local Conservative MP supported the policy I would vote for him. He will win by a massive majority even without my help so it is all a bit of a thought experiment for me.

Doublerainbow23 · 06/12/2023 20:38

Yes. With a heavy heart, in secret and plenty of shame, but yes nonetheless.

theilltemperedclavecinist · 06/12/2023 20:40

I don't agree that getting rid of the GRA is top priority. I know trans people who don't bother with a GRC. The laws on tax, pensions and marriage have all been equalised anyway, and you don't need a GRC to alter a driving licence or passport.

They see more value in the EA, because the PC of gender reassignment is widely defined.

Rainbowshit · 06/12/2023 20:41

I'm not sure. I really want to vote Labour but they would bring in something close to self ID. All the other parties are even worse on this issue.

Could I really bring myself to vote Tory? Really torn.

Kendodd · 06/12/2023 20:42

Have you not noticed OP, the entire trans shit show has unfolded under the Tories? Self ID was their idea.

TheCatfordCat · 06/12/2023 20:43

No

DisappearingGirl · 06/12/2023 20:44

No.

They don't give a fuck about gender really. It's just window dressing to get votes and they'd change course at the drop of a hat.

Agree with this.

It's not that i dont care about womens rights - its just some rights become theoretical under the Tories . Like you have the right to a female carer but there are no carers at all, the right to justice but no legal aid. this happens all the time with my SEN son, all these rights to things that dont exist because of austerity.

And this.

This is my position exactly as well.

Moonshine5 · 06/12/2023 20:45

Nope

N4ish · 06/12/2023 20:45

No, I could never ever vote Tory.

I also don’t believe revoking the GRA would make any real difference when so many institutions (and seemingly most people under 35) have been 100% captured on this issue.

Unwitting · 06/12/2023 20:58

No

WearyAuldWumman · 06/12/2023 20:58

No. Just could not do it. Not even for this.

No, Trans-ideology infected governments accross the world, as instructed by the Dentons Document, through lobby groups and activists as a trojan horse. Conservatives have started putting the breaks on, more so than most other European countries. I feel incredibly lucky we've had the tory party, in this respect, because if we had been under labour we would be full self-id. Like most other European countries find themselves under.

The document that reveals the remarkable tactics of trans lobbyists

A great deal of the transgender debate is unexplained. One of the most mystifying aspects is the speed and success of a small number of small organisations in achieving major influence over public bodies, politicians and officials. How has a certain id...

Yes. I'm a floating voter and have been voting for independents for the last 30ish years.
