Statement related to which countries will have their GRC's recognised in the UK by adding some and removing others. This is a self-ID issue. Followed by Q&A.

Discussion around the confusion of the law since the Haldane judgment. KB says the law is now a mess and they are working to clarify issues.

KB accused of attacking transgender people.

<Yawn>

Kemi Badenoch is on fire.

Keira Bell gets a mention.

Liz truss private members bill sounds good

IcakethereforeIam · 06/12/2023 14:26

Chris Bryant chilly, Kemi gave him some heat, but mostly light.

AutumnCrow · 06/12/2023 14:27

Thanks for the heads up - I've just turned the TV to BBC Parliament.

KB is talking about 'social transitioning' and how it is based on a contested gender ideology. Not a neutral act.

AutumnCrow · 06/12/2023 14:28

It is excellent that the House is very busy for this debate, and it will all be in Hansard.

WarriorN · 06/12/2023 14:30

I'm a bit behind but aware that Joanna Cherry is desperately trying to speak.

Kemi is on fire

Signalbox · 06/12/2023 14:32

KB making the point that lumping LGB together with T is a bit like using the term BAME by lumping together people often with different interests which isn't always helpful

OP posts:
Signalbox · 06/12/2023 14:37

Wow!

KB saying that transing gay children is a form of conversion therapy.

I’m unable to listen atm but sounds interesting

Is this in relation to a particular Act etc?

catduckgoose · 06/12/2023 14:43

Good to hear that MP calling out the regressive stereotypes being pushed to schoolchildren via teaching materials like the 'genderbread person'.

KB made a statement about an update to GRC recognition from overseas countries. The debate that follows is related to all aspects of gender recognition / schools / sports / prisons etc. It's well worth a listen.

Seems that the update in question is being made to the GRA by statutory instrument.

Lol at angela eagle trying to appear confused that single sex, actual means single sex.

Its like she auditioning for panto.

WarriorN · 06/12/2023 14:46

It's brilliant!

WarriorN · 06/12/2023 14:48

Re BAME- "we need as much granularity as possible to serve individual needs.." (or similar) great phrase.

Which is true / trans people need individual services that must be unique and women's services or men's services don't meet those needs (unless same sex. Bug they don't want that.)

nauticant · 06/12/2023 14:53

I'm somewhat behind and am currently listening to Kirsten Oswald on a high horse.

Kemi Badenoch statement re GRC recognition 6/12/23
Appalonia · 06/12/2023 14:55

Wow Kemi was brilliant! So clear, concise and really understands the issues. Labour, wooly and manipulative as usual.

Froodwithatowel · 06/12/2023 14:55

They're getting it, aren't they? This is being openly discussed now. The need is for new and additional services, spaces and resources for TQ+ need - not to colonise women's and just exclude and abandon the women thus excluded.

Answers that work for everyone. No one group given priority over others.

nauticant · 06/12/2023 15:01

KB: "Stonewall does not decide the law in this country."

HipTightOnions · 06/12/2023 15:01

KB knows her stuff inside out and she is speaking the direct truth. That's such a powerful combination.

WarriorN · 06/12/2023 15:03

Someone asks "does she agree there's no place for a genderbread person in schools?" 👏

bananabug · 06/12/2023 15:04

This was amazing! Great to hear them all discussing the issues so openly. Weird that it hasn't appeared in the news at all. BBC news seems more interested in highlighting Covid Lockdown errors from 2020.

HipTightOnions · 06/12/2023 15:05

Social transitioning: "a range of actions that a child may take in order to appear more like the opposite sex, accompanied by an expectation that they will be treated as if they are".

Perfect.
