Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
FKATondelayo · 16/11/2023 18:52

She said the debate surrounding transgender issues and women’s rights needs “far less heat and far more light”.

Groundbreaking.

Hoardasurass · 16/11/2023 19:02

Noticed that she didn't say whether she still thinks putting rapists in women's jail is a good idea or not

StarlightLime · 16/11/2023 19:03

She's as thick as mince.

NancyDrawed · 16/11/2023 19:17

From the article:

'I think when we look back in history we will be utterly ashamed of ourselves.'
**

I think you will be ashamed of yourself, too, Lisa...

Rightsraptor · 16/11/2023 19:32

I had to double check the date of that article and of this thread. Nandy is saying exactly the same things she's been saying for years now.

And God save me from that bloody 'heat and light' rubbish.

Read the room, Lisa. Before it's too late.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/11/2023 19:42

I wondered if that was the sound of teeny tiny ferret feet reversing - and then realised it was the stomping boots of a woman incapable of insight, self reflection and change.
Very sad to see.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 16/11/2023 19:51

Nandy is mental.

Mummymummy89 · 16/11/2023 19:59

It baffles me that Nandy says we shouldn't "reduce [men and women] to body parts".

It is entirely my body parts that make me a woman! It's the opposite of sexist to say so. And it would be sexist to say the opposite - what else would make me a woman, my sunny disposition?! (sarcasm, I do not have a sunny disposition).

I know this argument has been made many times but it's just lightbulbed at me stronger than ever before, reading it phrased the way Nandy has been quoted.

EdgeOfACoin · 16/11/2023 20:05

She was spouting "less heat, more light" in 2019.

Also, the only ones reducing women to their bodily parts, i.e "cervix havers", "menstruators", "vagina owners" etc are TRAs.

At least she didn't bring up her trans-child constituent.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/11/2023 20:07

Am I at the annual Punxsutawney festival where a large rodent predicts the weather for the coming spring?

Exactly, women and men are complete human beings. Tinkering with individual bits doesn't turn you into the opposite one.

zanahoria · 16/11/2023 21:00

It is the "Aren't I just lovely?" defence

EasternStandard · 16/11/2023 21:01

Ha yes

zanahoria · 16/11/2023 21:02

Yes, it would be lovely to have a sensible debate about it.

So go and talk to the people who chant "no debate" like a mantra

HermioneWeasley · 16/11/2023 21:02

So dense light bends around her

EasternStandard · 16/11/2023 21:03

Bloody heat and light

I thought Sturgeon packed that in her leaving cardboard box

zanahoria · 16/11/2023 21:07

A debate is a fine idea, I would pay very good money to see Lisa Nandy debate this with JK Rowling

Froodwithatowel · 16/11/2023 21:19

"Less heat more light"

Wtaf does that functionally mean?

What is it with all this pointless, parroted burble?

Get this political lobby the fuck off women's rights, gay rights and child safeguarding. It isn't hard, and no amount of 'light' is going to make the destruction of those rights a nice, positive, ethical thing.

HagoftheNorth · 16/11/2023 21:29

Don’t you just love the way people like Nandy say ‘we should debate this’, and and then don’t present a single argument or defence. So, Lisa, why should male rapists be housed in women’s prisons?

tobee · 16/11/2023 21:31

Lisa Nandy still not getting it. Basically, Lisa, it really is all about body parts. Anything else she wants to add on is basic gobbledegook and gaslighting 101.

FKATondelayo · 16/11/2023 21:46

Was it Lisa Julie Bindel was talking about when saying "if she had one less IQ point, she'd need watering twice daily."

SidewaysOtter · 16/11/2023 21:47

Oh we’re ashamed Lisa.

Of you.

Toseland · 16/11/2023 21:48

I just don't understand her at all. Is she being paid to say this? Has she nothing new to bring to her discussion? Is this republished from a few years back?
So disappointed in her.

littlbrowndog · 16/11/2023 21:53

What group of people are having a very hard time. It’s not transgender people. They have same rights as rest of us.

it’s women getting murdered at still the same rate as some 20,30 , 40 years ago.

nothing has changed for women getting murdered

ArthurbellaScott · 16/11/2023 22:01

This woman is paid to talk about stuff for a living, yes?
