Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

It's not.a coincidence that the politicians who claim to be on TRSOH because of their stances on transgender inclusion are also silent on women and girls being brutally oppressed because of their sex.

Raising awareness of any of that could sabotage the public's unthinking acceptance of the orthodoxy that the most marginalised people on the planet are trans-identifying males.

Yes, this is a really important point.

You can't raise awareness or really do anything about the ways in which women and girls are oppressed due to their female biology without shining a spotlight on the nonsense you have been spouting about trans women being women because of their gender identity.

So it's not even that women and girls have to compete with trans women for attention. It’s worse than that. Issues affecting women and girls must actively be ignored and deprioritised so as not to draw any negative attention to the nonsense of gender identity theory.

Okay, thank you! I will report it. I'm just going to feel like a bit of a dick when I explain what I was doing. 😁

Nah, you’re doing them a favour by finding a bug 👍😎

I think it's the </strong> rather than bold tag. I suspect that something has commented it out. I suspect a lot more has been commented out that didn't display.

I see what you mean 🤔 It’s interesting. I’m really curious to know how it happened 🤓

I had one of those on the seat of my car. Just needed a drop of bleach.

It is Labour’s policy to be fully inclusive and this means supporting LGBTQ+ people

Words fail.

Is the wretched woman seriously this stupid or this duplicitous?

'Fully inclusive' while excluding women for daring to have protected characteristics, and definitely NOT supporting people who are homosexual to be allowed to be homosexual. Does she not realise this or is she really working this hard to not think about it and live in her happy alternative reality where the nasty worrying facts have been vanished?

I agree with pp. How the fuck can you seriously consider these idiots running a country when they can't even handle basic reality on a day to day basis?

Well, quite. The first sentence of my response was

What jumps out here is that my email was all about women's rights, and your reply was all about trans rights. Are women's rights not important to you?

They are appalling.

Joan Smith has written about this. She's put into words pretty much how I feel about it

https://unherd.com/thepost/lisa-nandy-is-wrong-about-j-k-rowling/

Nandy speaks like she's been in a coma for the last few years thus has apparently learned nothing in the interim.

Edited

Damn, that's a good piece.

DontBeAPrickDarren · 18/11/2023 01:21

It’s just annoyed me all over again that she’s the shadow international development secretary. Knowing who are the most marginalised people “on the planet” is literally her job and she can’t even get that right.

Rightsraptor · 18/11/2023 07:46

Duc748 mentions how comments about women's rights get a response about trans rights. This seems a common tactic, and certainly one that Lucy Fraser employed when she replied to me in one of her former capacities. Where do they learn to do that?

PorcelinaV · 18/11/2023 09:40

Liked the point from the article:

"Employees find themselves asked to state their pronouns, signalling obedience to an ideology most of us regard as coercive nonsense."

IcakethereforeIam · 18/11/2023 09:47

Duc748 mentions how comments about women's rights get a response about trans rights.

Perhaps we should put that in our letters and emails. Something like 'every time I ask someone, like you, about women and women's rights I get an answer about trans and tran's rights. Which wasn't my question'. It might stop them or at least make them think, 'If there's no clash of rights, why do this?' It might just be the nudge they need.

Absolutely.

When you mention women's needs and women's rights and the muppet in front of you replies all about trans needs....

What they actually mean by 'trans' is 'men'. That is what they are saying.

They will try to deny it, but the protesting that TWAW is cancelled out by their demonstration that you mention women's needs and they focus only and exclusively on prioritising the needs of 'other women' - they themselves separate this group out from women, they themselves make it clear that when they said 'women' they did not mean 'biological females' and they know very well what that group is. They are signalling to those men at the same time as informing women that they cannot discuss the needs of female people, they are only interested in the furthering the desires and supremacism of male people.

I'd have more respect for Nandy if she could actually own and stand up for her own male supremacist beliefs, as opposed to try frantically to lie to herself and everyone else that it's something other than what it is. And all the waffle demonstrates she is uncomfortably aware that without it she'd be faced with something she's not happy to own.

If its unconscious male supremacism it may help. Worth spelling it out, much the same way women have been saying for years this is about women's rights, not trans people.

RoyalCorgi · 18/11/2023 10:44

Joan Smith's article is very good. I wish Nandy would debate this issue with someone from our side, or agree to be interviewed by someone who knows what they're talking about, because it's very hard to know what's going on in her head. Does she really think trans people are the most marginalised? All of them? Why? Does she think any man who identifies as trans should be placed in a women's prison, or would she make exceptions? How does she feel about rape crisis centres? What does she think of JKR's initiative to set up a women-only support centre for victims of sexual assault? What makes someone trans? Why is how you feel inside more important than their physical body? When a man says he "feels" like a woman, what does that mean?

She hasn't got the brains god gave little chickens.

I am going to be laughing at this all day

duc748 · 18/11/2023 12:02

Nandy would be torn apart by anyone who knew what they were talking about. I certainly don't believe for a moment that she really believes in this rubbish at all, but she still spouts it.

I’m not sure. I think she might believe it

She’s just too hooked into male rights as vulnerability to see women’s rights at all

Froodwithatowel · 18/11/2023 12:47

Considering I strongly suspect that it would take only a pint and a half in a quiet pub corner to get an extremist group to vigorously agree with you that Magdalen Laundries would be good for Terfs and concentration camps had their uses for society's undesireable women, if they thought they were talking to someone who shared their values? I do wonder how long it will be before, as Icake says, they just take the mask off and are blunt that people born male matter and people born female aren't equally human and exist largely as a resource for the reasonable use of male people, without right to consent.

They cannot be this stupid. This is ego protecting dissonance and burbling. Nandy is consciously placing her desire to enable men and to provide them with non consenting women regardless of the cost to women above any other values she may hold. Or identifies as holding.

But yes: increasingly important that every time women are mentioned and the reply is 'but trans', it is bluntly interrupted with 'you mean men'. Let's get this out in the open.

The general public really need to realise what is coming, particularly with a Labour government incoming that will make those little chickens mentioned look like bloody Mensa.
