Except it is a bit of a pyrrhic victory.

She is a sportswomen who now can't compete in her own sport. She has to withdraw because a man is allowed to compete in a female category and it isn't safe. One of these two should have bowed out gracefully in recognition that this could never be a safe fight. And it isn't her. So women are still losing out to male entitlement and invasion of female spaces.

The problem isn’t that this individual is being called ‘him’.

The big problem we are discussing here is that this individual is upset because this individual is being denied the chance to batter a woman legally.

This individual may have been born male but I would be reluctant to even call them a man because a decent man would be horrified at the thought.
