Caster is a cheat and a misogynist and it’s outrageous that the BBC is giving him a platform to spout disinformation, paid for by the British public. I am furious.

Totally agree - its all so depressing.

Ladiesssss · 07/11/2023 18:42

I am disgusted by this whole thread!

I expect my post to be deleted as were my previous posts on the transphobia on this site (I know this isn’t a trans issue before I’m jumped on)!

I am a female, always have been, born that way but have the basic human empathy to see situations outside of my own experience.

This is disgusting and MN needs to be called out for it.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 07/11/2023 18:49

What are you disgusted by exactly? Is it the man stealing g prizes and money for women

oh no silly me

Regardless of the issue of sex in sport- on which I believe women's sporting categories should be XX only- it feels utterly grotesque to be speculating on someone's genitals, their fertility or how they had children. If there's anyone out there with the same DSD who is open to questions then go ahead and ask, but suggestions on here are never going to provide an answer and only serve to further incredibly invasive gossip.

But it wouldn't be happening if CS/other males had not put themselves in this position. If you think about it, discovering or knowing that you are biologically male - along with having very obvious male musculature, body shape etc - would or should make most people think "I don't belong in the women's category". The only reason any males are there at all is because some males are prepared to take advantage of being considered female when they are not - whether that's CS or a trans woman. ost decent people wouldn't. I'm sure there are many males with DSDs and many trans women who would not have the gall, arrogance or selfishness to compete against women in a female category, because the unfair advantage is wrong. Those who do are going to end up having their "femaleness" interrogated.

This. CS is using these arguments (having a vagina, not producing sperm) to make a case that they are a woman and should be in women's sport In the absence of CS admitting they are male or explaining what they mean by vagina or lack of sperm production, then in my view it is reasonable to question/counter those assertions and to explain why these statements are (deliberately or otherwise) misleading or wrong.

Unless you can see Casters chromosomes then it can't be clear to you that Caster is not a man. Caster not living as a man or identifying as one doesn't mean that biologically Caster isn't one.

At birth Caster had a DSD and was unfortunately assigned the wrong sex. That doesn't mean that as a biological male Caster should be allowed in women's races.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 07/11/2023 18:58

yeah nah

caster has a DSD that only affects biological males and the only time caster lives as as a woman frankly is the 800m caster is on the track (copyright PP)

WickedSerious · 07/11/2023 18:59

BreatheAndFocus · 07/11/2023 13:57

Yes, Caster has a DSD (old term= intersex) but the DSD Caster has only occurs in males. So Caster is a male person with a DSD. Sometimes being male or female matters, like in sport.

While Caster’s sex might have been unclear at birth or assumed to be female, it would have become apparent at puberty.

I genuinely don’t know if Caster simply doesn’t understand or is purposely pretending not to understand. The issue is that Caster is male. The high testosterone is normal - because Caster is male.

I'd say he understands perfectly, but I'm a cynical old thing.

Please make your point. Quite often people say they are disgusted when they are unable to articulate their thoughts.

NecessaryScene · 07/11/2023 19:03

She is quite clearly not a man!

Expand on this? In what way is this remotely clear? Before looking into this, for myself, the only reason to ever believe "clearly not a man" was the fact Semenya had been permitted to compete in women's sports.

Naturally one would assume "well, obviously they wouldn't let a man compete", and to give anyone participating the benefit of the doubt, but as the eligibility is the very thing in dispute, relying on that is begging the question.

What is there beyond the participation in female sports that says "clearly not a man" to you? Lack of mainstream media admitting it?

Share your thought process here.

It’s a shame you don’t have ‘basic human empathy’ for female athletes.

This athlete is a male. There is no way to deny this.

When it comes to sports, a male athlete has advantages over a female athlete. I have many study links I can share with you if you don’t believe me. Would you like to see them?

Language is very important for clarity. A male adult human is a man. No matter how different they feel to other people that fit that description.

Ladiesssss · 07/11/2023 19:09

I would suggest that the majority on here speak from no actual factual knowledge of caster’s genetics, nor do I, but I know hate speech when I see it.

I’m very surprised to see my post still up. MN moderators are quick to take down any disagreement to these horrific phobic attacks. Yet won’t allow someone to put forward an argument on a minor issue when opinions differ!

LozengeShaped · 07/11/2023 19:12

nor do I I suggest you do a bit of research in this respect. Many of us began thinking CS was a woman. Obviously she was, otherwise why would she be allowed to race against women. In fact, I did this research, and found she had a DSD that only men had, not women, and I totally changed my opinion.

Desecratedcoconut · 07/11/2023 19:13

To me, having testes and fathering a child reads as man.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/11/2023 19:13

Everything about CS screams man 🙄🤔

ApocalipstickNow · 07/11/2023 19:13

There’s a video on this thread of Caster.

I would watch it and see if you still feel Caster is a woman, presenting as a woman, living as a woman.

And you would be wrong.

It is now well documented that Semenya has a DSD that is 5ARD. A Difference of sex development that only affects male people. I suggest you do your own research before giving in to your own prejudice about the posters on this board.

Maybe people don’t want your posts deleted because they serve as a great resource on people who make accusations without knowledge to back them up.

There have been cases in the Court of Arbitration in Lucerne which mean that we do have factual knowledge of Caster's genetics.

NecessaryScene · 07/11/2023 19:16

That’s the thing with empathy! I do!

As a thought experiment, let's say you truly believe Semenya is not a man.

What would you do if you saw someone you did believe was a man permitted to win female Olympic medals?

How would you feel?

Can you even imagine this situation? Or is just one of those things that could never happen?

NecessaryScene · 07/11/2023 19:17

My point is, is this belief of "not a man" about Semenya specifically, or is it an a priori belief about anyone in a woman's place accused of being a man?
