Continuation of Thread 6.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

From my friend, on the situation in Spain. Hilarious!

Do you want to know something funny?
The Spanish equivalent to Stonewall (FELGTB) has been fuming some days because of those military guys who changed their legal sex to female without doing anything else (and keeping beards, wives, everything!), because they were proving us feminists so right.
So finally FELGTB have decided to sue the military guys (who created an organisation called "Non Normative Trans People" (TNN in its Spanish acronym) for "fraud". But TNN have doubled down and said that they are going to sue FELGTB for transphobia, because no reason has to be given for changing your ID and the law says you can't be questioned.
Feminists are delighted watching this fight! 🍿
😂😂😂😂😂

Britinme · 13/03/2024 06:33

Oh that's hilarious!

Kucinghitam · 13/03/2024 08:49

That is perfection Grin

IcakethereforeIam · 13/03/2024 08:56

Ridiculous and not at all predictable 🙄

StephanieSuperpowers · 13/03/2024 08:59

Transphobia is terrible and genocidal so hopefully TNN manage to uphold their unquestionable status in court.

duc748 · 13/03/2024 11:53

Love it. Brilliant! 😄

Britinme · 13/03/2024 13:37

Anybody got an archived version of the Spectator article?

They get extra pay and a bigger pension for declaring themselves trans. That must be discriminatory.

Snowypeaks · 13/03/2024 15:56

No, for being women. As encouragement to join the military and police in which women are underrepresented. To compensate women for having to devote several years of their lives to childbearing, child-rearing and caring responsibilities. Unlike men. Oh...

mach2 · 13/03/2024 18:26

That's delicious. Game, set and match!

SqueakyDinosaur · 13/03/2024 20:30

When even the Telegraph thinks something is discriminating against women, I think we should probably take notice.

Henley Business School has a Women In Leadership scholarship. It's open to both sexes, apparently. And this year what you have to do to apply is write an essay on childcare, drawing on your personal experience as well as research.

Just when you think peak madness is here... https://archive.is/HCdWo

Gonners · 13/03/2024 20:52

If I were being unprecedentedly kind, I might wonder if this is meant to be inclusive of trans-men. It would of course exclude women like me, with no experience of and zero interest in child-rearing.

MouseMinge · 14/03/2024 00:04

I listened to a thing about these soldiers on the radio a few weeks ago. They're all based in North Africa somewhere, if my memory isn't completely frazzled. The fight between them and the Spanish Stonewall is funny but not so funny is as well as the wanting the extra benefits a large number are doing it after violence against female partners/wives/women in general to get away with going to prison and it's working. Of course, that would never happen as we're so often told.

IcakethereforeIam · 14/03/2024 19:22

Just posted a thread @Britinme 😁

It looks as if women's sports are peaking on my side of the Atlantic as female athletes sue the NCAA over transgender competitors in sports.

Good to hear

The physical difference is stark

Just posted a thread @Britinme 😁

Oh good! Can you link it please? I can't see for looking!

IcakethereforeIam · 14/03/2024 20:00

Blush I put it on the wrong board.

I've asked for it to be moved😬

IcakethereforeIam · 14/03/2024 20:03

At the moment it's in what we're reading. I hope they shift it soon I'm dying of cringe.

IcakethereforeIam · 14/03/2024 20:04

Though tbf, it was what I had been reading.
