Women's rights general conversations - Thread 7

Continuation of Thread 6.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

I would hope the "One off consultation and advice" consisted of: 'Don't be ridiculous! Go away, and let your kid get on with being a kid.' But I suspect not.

I seem to have fallen off the general 'JTT survivor' thread. Can someone please post a link?

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 31/12/2023 08:25

Sent you a PM, Poppy Seed.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 31/12/2023 09:55

Encouraging to see the 'cramps' thread remaining in Chat for so ling instead of being booted out of sight.

VictorianBigot · 31/12/2023 11:36

Cramps? Oh dear. Perhaps they might like to try having the Mirena coil inserted, which can sometimes help. My uterus bleeds for them.

Thanks Vegemite. I've signed up again.

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/12/2023 18:20

Could I please have the link too, if I'm not there already? I'm easily confused...

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 31/12/2023 18:22

Check your PMs Stephanie :)

Rest their sweet souls and may their families and friends, in time, find some peace.Flowers

SqueakyDinosaur · 01/01/2024 20:53

Karen Ingala Smith also does this in the Counting Dead Women project.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/01/2024 23:25

A hard read, but I'm very glad somewhere like the Mail is publishing it. And including when other women/girls were also attacked as part of one of the murders, or police failed to attend promptly or had previous reports.

Does anyone know if it was actually in the print edition or just online? The fomer in particular should reach an audience that isn't aware of Karen Ingala Smith's work.

Medee · 02/01/2024 09:44

Such grim reading, and so many killed by husbands or sons.
