Just curious to see what the answers here might be.

Feel free to answer any way you like, and I don't care about derailing. The question is quite tongue in cheek, don't take it too seriously, and have fun with it if you want, rant if you want. I'm trying to get a picture of the MN mood.

No but wouldn't vote Tory anyway. Although the Major government was obviously unpopular, it's worse now. You've got as ex-PMs, ex and present ministers a mixture of the incompetent, the over-promoted and the downright unpleasant.

MissPollysFitDolly · 03/10/2023 14:59

Yes, absolutely. Couldn't vote for Labour, bunch of ridiculous clowns.

fearfuloffluff · 03/10/2023 15:00

Zero chance

You're clearly too young to remember Labour's illegal war that killed millions and resulted in terrorism in this country killing kids at pop concerts etc. If you deem that to be better than what the tories have done then shame on you.
Personally I'd take someone eating cake when they shouldn't over illegal wars any time... but that is just me I guess. Lots still vote Labour (sadly I voted for them and am therefore partly guilty for the millions of deaths they caused).

It seems you were too young to remember any of the complexity around the Iraq war - not least that the Conservative Party were very enthusiastic about it and would have taken the exact same decision to join the Americans’ lead.

I was one of the many thousands of ordinary people who marched against that war, but the fact it happened is in no way a reason to vote Tory.

Perhaps you were also too young to remember the utterly shit state of public services before Blair won the 1997 election? Or to notice what a massive positive difference things like Sure Start and decent funding of the NHS made to this country?

ruby1957 · 03/10/2023 15:04

No - not enough experience.

Tinysoxxx · 03/10/2023 15:05

No

smithsinarazz · 03/10/2023 15:05

Good God, no. Never.

CyberCritical · 03/10/2023 15:07

No

I vote for my local MP not for the party leader, if the last couple of years have taught us all anything it should be that the party leader can be changed at the drop of a hat.

Also you'd have to threaten me with something pretty horrific to get me to ever vote Tory.

DarkDayforMN · 03/10/2023 15:08

I might. I would have to look into her stance on disability a lot more. I don’t know the details but if her preferred policies would fuck over the actual most vulnerable, as I’ve heard said, then, no, I couldn’t vote for her.

But I appreciate that she seems to be willing to go to war with the bureaucrats who have tied the education and health system and indeed the economy in knots. I don’t know if she could actually accomplish any kind of substantive change even if she did get into power, and I don’t know if I’d like the changes even if she did accomplish them - but I think she has identified the right enemies. That’s something, right? (It’s probably nothing at all.)

Yes. Someone said on another thread better to have given more years of them and not lose our rights, and let the madness wash over Labour. I agree with that. Though given how strongly they are clinging to the disastrous GRA, I doubt they'll let it go after five years. But to steady the ship, it's what we need. It'll take 100 years or more to get back what we will lose. This is what we will lose: www.lostwomensrights.com

This.
I can't stand the Tories but will vote for them at the next GE UNLESS Labour have an epiphany regarding women's rights.
Let's have them make the same commitments as Stephen Barclay did today.
For me this is very much a single issue election.

Yes yes YES. Love her.

Why?

missusvontrap · 03/10/2023 15:11

No - I care about other people. It would be as insane as voting for Trump or Putin voting these criminals in again.

Fahbeep · 03/10/2023 15:11

No, and I think she has very limited electoral appeal beyond culturally right leaning Tory party members. She is opinionated and abrasive regarding anyone who questions her views, seeing and treating them as imbeciles. That may delight the culture wars faithful, but successful politicians who lead parties to GE victories are ideologically flexible, and bring people with them. I can't see her doing that. She comes off as rigid and brittle, and would break like Truss pushing pet ideological policies that don't engage with Britain's real problems.

I think an interesting Q will be, for another thread, if when Labour are floundering after the GE and are nailing colours to the intersectional mast by bringing in changes that GC women will diametrically be opposed to, and Kemi is the Leader of the Opposition, how will women vote next time around.

Mustardseed86 · 03/10/2023 15:16

No. I quite like her, but no. The Tories need to go, they're destroying this country bit by bit. I don't know how much better Labour will be, but I will definitely be voting for them in the next election and hoping things may start to get better. I'm not a single issue voter, though.

This is just silly.

No matter what you think of the Tories comparing them to Putin is offensive.

Verite1 · 03/10/2023 15:17

No. Absolutely not.

Weefreetiffany · 03/10/2023 15:17

A lot of people saying “yes” seem to be justifying it with “better the fascist you know” guess we can than Rupert murdoch for giving them that idea.

I remember how good it was under labour, then Cameron cut all services to within an inch of life under “austerity”. All our hard won rights for workers and women are being systematically reversed and undercut while their donor mates get rich from back room deals. Why would anyone who is dependent on public services and/or has an income of less than 250k a year even consider voting for them? Oh yeah, the mail/express/telegraph told you to.

AgnesX · 03/10/2023 15:18

GrammarTeacher · 03/10/2023 13:56

Hell no. Look at her voting record in general. It's not one supportive of women's rights. Even if I agreed with her on trans issues (I don't), her voting record on welfare issues and human rights would have me running for the hills. She is not the friend of any type of feminist.

Agree with this.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 03/10/2023 15:20

No way. 😱

Enterthewolves · 03/10/2023 15:20

Fuck no - and honestly if people are voting on this as a single issue I am appalled - women are more likely to be negatively impacted by cuts to welfare benefits, health, education, criminal justice than men but yeah let’s vote for someone who’d make all of that a shit tonne worse
