Just curious to see what the answers here might be.

Feel free to answer any way you like, and I don't care about derailing. The question is quite tongue in cheek, don't take it too seriously, and have fun with it if you want, rant if you want. I'm trying to get a picture of the MN mood.

That may be your view....but if you are expecting Labour to be much different I think you'll be very disappointed.

It’s my view and most of the country’s, I think you’ll find. Nothing you, or anyone says will change my, or others’ minds. The facts are there.

algasport · 03/10/2023 14:31

Yes

booksandbrooks · 03/10/2023 14:32

No.

The only way I might possibly have ever voted Tory was if Rory Stewart was leader, though I don't know the ins and outs of his voting record tbh, I was very impressed when he spoke about climate change, how to manage brexit etc.

weegiemum · 03/10/2023 14:32

No.

I'd never vote Tory, ever. I don't care who the leader is, the basic principles are just so far from mine that I would never vote for them.

Cascais · 03/10/2023 14:33

No

Desecratedcoconut · 03/10/2023 14:34

Yes. I'm not in favour of her preferred policies in a wholesale manner - but if we are making a pragmatic choice between available options and not setting out a wish list, then yes, I'd vote for Kemi.

I live in s solid Labour area and actually used to be in the Labour Party. I think you'll find most left wingers really hate Kier Starmer, Rachel Reeves..anyone they think is too 'right wing'....They don't expect much different from them, at all.
They will have to deal with the exact same issues and difficulties as we currently face with no more money. The most they will be able to do is tinker around the edges with nice sounding slogans and fine sentiments; and do the odd ideological thing like charge people 20% more in private school fees, and further the cause of trans ideology.

No. No. No

ArabellaScott · 03/10/2023 14:38

I don't know. I'd fucking dither.

I like Kemi's stance on women's rights, but what does she think on other issues?

Who would be the alternatives?

ResisterRex · 03/10/2023 14:39

I would also say that I'm really interested to see how Labour responds to the announcements there have been this week. Because I always used to vote Labour!

With waffle, betcha!

👍

lifeturnsonadime · 03/10/2023 14:40

I couldn't vote for Kier Starmer's labour any more than I would vote Tory.

Kemi has some views I very much disagree with but then so has Starmer, he thinks that some men are women just because they say so. He's a liar. If he lies about that simple fact I don't think he can be trusted to run the country.

All that he has to do is draw back on this and come up with some policies that will reassure me and other women that he won't throw women under the bus to appease the purportedly small proportion of men who say they are women and their supporters. But he won't. It would also be good if he would make it clear that body modification is not appropriate for children and won't buy some men the right to access women's spaces. But he won't.

The state of politics is a right mess. We appear to be living in a post truth age. Women are right to be concerned.

ChaToilLeam · 03/10/2023 14:41

No, I would not vote Tory.

All this has happened on their watch. And I don’t feel inclined to reward them for the absolute shit-show of the last 13 years.

anniegun · 03/10/2023 14:41

Definitely not. 13 years making ordinary people poorer , trashing public services and starting culture wars. Why on earth would we sign up for more of that?

ResisterRex · 03/10/2023 14:43

What does "with waffle" mean? I did. Until 2019 when I spoiled my ballot. (Which I took no pleasure in doing whatsoever but I just couldn't not turn up)

Absolutely. I predict weak protest, followed by relief.

caringcarer · 03/10/2023 14:48

Yes, she's a lot more electable than Rishi Snake Sunak. He is beyond rich and has no idea how normal people live with his £720 million wealth.

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/10/2023 14:49

No. I like having rights.

Notagains · 03/10/2023 14:50

Definitely not. She is even more rightwing than the current government .

Alstro · 03/10/2023 14:53

No. I will never vote Tory.

I wouldn’t vote for the tories ever. They have done the most damage to society and the economy in 11 years than any previous government. Can’t vote for more of the same, in good conscience, could you?

You're clearly too young to remember Labour's illegal war that killed millions and resulted in terrorism in this country killing kids at pop concerts etc. If you deem that to be better than what the tories have done then shame on you.
Personally I'd take someone eating cake when they shouldn't over illegal wars any time... but that is just me I guess. Lots still vote Labour (sadly I voted for them and am therefore partly guilty for the millions of deaths they caused).

GrammarTeacher · 03/10/2023 14:28

Those saying yes, other than her statements around trans people what do you agree with her about exactly.

I haven't said "yes", but I do agree with her position on potentially leaving the European Court of Human Rights.

(I would personally take a stronger position.)

Apparently we had the GRA forced on us because of that institution.

But even ignoring that, there is an obvious problem with court decisions, when you can decide completely opposite things just depending on the individual judge. And of course their personal moral and political values will bias them. That kind of system is very suspect if it has too much power.

beastlyslumber · 03/10/2023 14:55

Yes, I would.
