Just curious to see what the answers here might be.

Feel free to answer any way you like, and I don't care about derailing. The question is quite tongue in cheek, don't take it too seriously, and have fun with it if you want, rant if you want. I'm trying to get a picture of the MN mood.

I would never ever vote Tory even if they are the only sane party re gender woo.

RebelliousCow · 03/10/2023 16:14

Robbiesraft · 03/10/2023 16:10

And why is this on the Feminisim board?

Probably because Kemi is one of the few MPs to have an actual grasp and depth of understanding of the conflict of interest between women's rights & child safeguarding and trans ideology.

RebelliousCow · 03/10/2023 16:15

MadderthanMorris · 03/10/2023 16:08

No.

Gender ideology is bad, but fascism is worse.

What is your understanding of fascism?

Saucery · 03/10/2023 16:16

No, although I admire her, appreciate her stand on women’s rights and have voted Tory in the past. The rest of the party are, by and large, a shower of self serving shite, however and the sooner they are out the better.

I agree with her gender critical views and I admire the way she has stood her ground on this issue, but I disagree with almost everything else she stands for.

She’s dreadful on race…and she’s a Tory.

Not a chance.

Which just goes to show that black people and Asian people are not a hive mind and have very differwnt perspectives. Not everyone buys into identity politics and the idea that identity groups must all think or behave in the same way.

IsThePopeCatholic · 03/10/2023 16:18

No. I would never vote Tory.

Yes, I'm fine with it being here. My answer is a definite 'No' to voting for the Tories, but Kemi Badenoch is one of the few Tory MPs who has faced off Tory nutjobs Penny Mordaunt and Caroline Nokes over the gender woowoo.

That's a big call. There are many on the back benches and those without high profile who are good, honset people of integrity.

I didn’t mention Labour.

Well, no other party is going to get elected.

ILikeDungs · 03/10/2023 16:23

Gender ideology is bad, but fascism is worse.

And yet I see a lot of fascism in gender ideology. "Violent suppression of opposition, authoritarianism, stringent oppressive government controls, dictatorial mandates."

And not so much in Kemi B. Some people see "Tory" and immediately think "far right" but that is just nonsense. It is the shorthand of an unbalanced media that has influenced people to think that way, that's all. If you think we are currently governed by fascists then you don't know you're born.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 03/10/2023 16:05

This. She is going on about the EHCR and like other moronic Tories seems to have wilfully forgotten that we cannot leave the EHCR due to the Good Friday agreement.

Please explain why the Good Friday Agreement prevents the UK from leaving the European Convention on Human Rights?

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/10/2023 16:24

RebelliousCow · 03/10/2023 16:15

What is your understanding of fascism?

Being stripped of our human rights.

VWdieselnightmare · 03/10/2023 16:24

If voting Tory means that women's sex-based rights and spaces are protected and that other issues which have already or will profoundly affect women will see change — like adoption of the Nordic model for prostitution, a clampdown on sex trafficking, cracking down on internet porn and creating firm boundaries around surrogacy and the buy and selling of babies — then I would almost certainly do so. Because at that point the Tories would represent me better than Labour. So many prominent people in Labour have lied and continue lying. Why would I vote for people I know will swear black is white and vice versa?

Saucery · 03/10/2023 16:24

RebelliousCow · 03/10/2023 16:19

Then those people need to be louder. Much, much louder. They are the traditional Tory types I used to vote for. If they want my vote again, they are going to have to do a bit more to steer the Conservative ship back in the right direction.

FizzingAda · 03/10/2023 15:37

I'd cut my hands off before I'd vote Tory.

No you wouldn't 🙄

ActDottie · 03/10/2023 16:25

No. I think what the tories have done over the last 10+ years is unforgivable.

bombastix · 03/10/2023 16:26

She is interesting actually but seems to get a mixed reception with Tories. Some absolutely love her others not.

Clearly on a media blitz since she's had two pieces in the Daily Mail on how anti woke she is.

Braverman doing better on the extreme end of Tory thinking. Now she does say the stuff the very right of the party members want to hear

Debenture · 03/10/2023 16:27

Indeed. Isn't it somewhat...racist...to stipulate that all POC are in such a position that they should be thinking the same way, about race, or anything really?

RebelliousCow · 03/10/2023 16:30

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/10/2023 16:24

Being stripped of our human rights.

That is not what fascism is. Fascism is dictatorship and authoritarianism; often with forceful suppression of dissent. Fascistic tendencies don't belong exclusively to the right - the Left can also used and display fascistic tendencies and be authoritarian and suppressive. A lot of what we see emanating from the Left at present in terms of cancel culture and suppression of speech and dissent is far more fascistic than anything the Tories are proposing.

Debenture · 03/10/2023 16:27

I'm not sure what you are talking about. How am i gaslighting you? That's a bit of an over-reaction to disagreement isn't it?

It's either Labour or the Tories again.

If we allow the government, any government to strip us of our human rights, authoritarianism will follow.
