NC for this.
For a long time I have always said to myself if a LWS event came near to me, the least I could do was go along and show solidarity. Seeing what has happened elsewhere has made me so angry, it would be time to stand up and be counted.

Now there is an event next week, and I'm really surprised how nervous, even scared I am about going along just to listen, and really just wanted to reach out for advice, support, whatever.

I'm worried about the vitriol of protesters, the attitude of the police. I have worked in pretty 'captured' sectors and am concerned about being identified on social media, or by acquaintances - I'm fairly sure there'll be old contacts, people I like and who I have had time for - protesting or certainly vocally supporting the shutting down of KJK on the day. I guess I personally run the risk of being publicly 'outed' and losing friends and contacts that will have a real impact on things I do that mean a great deal to me.

Yet I feel if I don't go I will always regret not standing up and showing KJK support on my doorstep. I'm even worried about DM-ing the local Women's Rights Network as I tweet with my full name. Perhaps if anyone is on this board they can PM here, or give some info about plans for the day?

Sorry I haven't seen any threads about this LWS event so apologies if there is one already.

How about "tr**ns" and "blue haired weirdos"?

How young are you? Check out the abuse short people, redheads etc get. Then compare to your "list".

More importantly, check the C and F words used at LWS at Liverpool today, and give us your genuine comparison to "blue haired weirdos".

How about "tr**ns" and "blue haired weirdos"?

How about you go and tell them off at the places your find these terms used and step scolding posters here for other people’s actions? If this is the level of engagement you seek here, you will be disappointed. No posters can use those terms and not get deleted.

ApocalipstickNow · 08/10/2023 17:57

How is having blue hair a sign of your sexuality?

Funny how we keep getting told no one can tell if a person is a man or a woman these days without genital checks but you can spot someone who is LGB by their hair 🙄

CampervanKween · 08/10/2023 17:58

Very funny, my kids are always going on about the "blue haired weirdos" it's a definite stereotype nowadays. They are people to be avoided at all costs apparently as they're utterly humourless pitas. There seems a preponderance of fat blokes with beards as well in the anti women crowds. Again, people to be avoided irl.

Can we talk about all the hateful and abusive comments made in the Youtube live chat against LGBT people?

Can we talk about the constant stream of unfounded accusations and abusive posts that extreme trans activists post here on Mumsnet? And can we discuss the constant stream of deeply prejudiced and scolding posts for people who have little understanding of what women are discussing here on Mumsnet?

ApocalipstickNow · 08/10/2023 18:03

These certainly aren't terms LGBT people and their allies would use.

So we should be using LGBT and ally approved terms like cunt, then?

Got it.

The person who made the comment appeared to be a "TERF".

I'm not a "TERF" so I don't know the answer.

ArabellaScott · 08/10/2023 18:09

Steph, are you here complaining about what posters on another website are saying? What do you want from us? We are not, sadly, the internet police.

LarkLane · 08/10/2023 18:18

Those two kids in the pink ballys were definitely committing hat crimes.

So you are here making value judgements about who is and isn’t a ‘terf’ based on what? You seem rather deeply prejudiced.

Do you even read what you write? Do you honestly think you are contributing anything to this thread or that you are convincing any person reading along?

RebelliousCow · 08/10/2023 18:19

Well, that was a bit mental! I'm exhausted. Having a bunch of women of all ages and backgrounds being called 'fascists' is strangely amusing, though. Surreal.

I'll not write too much now as I've got to go and get something to eat and drink. We were corralled in a pen for hours. Most of the police were fine to be honest, and some of them clearly found the juvenile activists and their chants quite amusing too. There were a couple of unpleasant officers though; unnecessarily hard and confrontational.

Lots of press and journalists about.......I spoke with one USDAW ( union) women who was attending the conference - before the whole thing began - and she was very closed and " be kind' in attitude- but as she left she said she's look into third spaces as I suggested she should.

I got lots of photos...it will take me a while to process them. What do people think about me posting photos on here - yes or no?

I don't know what tr**ns means. Can you give me a bit of a clue? I would describe anybody with blue hair that is younger than my granny as a weirdo but only because I think it looks weird. The 2 Aussies that I work with call me 'Ranga' because I have red hair. I don't like it but I live with it.

LarkLane · 08/10/2023 18:24

I was thinking about you today RebelliousCow and hoping you took lots of photos.

I'd be very interested in seeing pics.

It's like how we are responsible for what someone said the other week in Australia i think it was.

Much like 'terf' it's claimed as a slur. I would be happy not to use that word if TRAs were happy to stop calling (women I disagree with) terfs. Does that sound fair?

Urban Dictionary: Troon

Poorly-socialized male-at-birth who was mostly raised by screens (TV, computer, etc.) rather than their parents, and therefore didn't properly develop a healthy social-identity. Due to having few or no friends or positive role-models, they instead form...

Ooh please post them. Glad you survived the hordes.

Don't forget that we on Mumsnet were considered directly responsible for the fight between Antifa and the Proud Boys following the Wi Spa incident.

Which considering there are only 6 of us with multiple sock puppet accounts, is quite an achievement 😁

ApocalipstickNow · 08/10/2023 18:42

I wonder what colour hair a T**f has? 🤔

And you seem to believe blue hair = gay/lesbian/bi whereas I’d think that was not true. If you don’t believe that why would you think “blue haired weirdo” means that?

There must be at least 7 or 8 of us by now! Surely!

Thanks but I'm non the wiser. I only need one of the asterisks replacing with the actual letter. The only word that I have at the moment is trains and that can't be right.

If you click the link I provided, it's there in all it's naughty glory. I only put the ** in to be polite.

Nellodee · 08/10/2023 19:13

I’m prepared to wager large sums of money that some of those protesters actually ARE poorly socialised males who watch animated pornography, if that’s what tr**ns means.
Personally, having been a blue haired weirdo myself in my punk rock days (and pink, purple, red, and occasionally all at once), I can’t get too offended on anyone’s behalf for that insult.

Yes. That was an accusation by a very familiar now.
