NC for this.
For a long time I have always said to myself if a LWS event came near to me, the least I could do was go along and show solidarity. Seeing what has happened elsewhere has made me so angry, it would be time to stand up and be counted.

Now there is an event next week, and I'm really surprised how nervous, even scared I am about going along just to listen, and really just wanted to reach out for advice, support, whatever.

I'm worried about the vitriol of protesters, the attitude of the police. I have worked in pretty 'captured' sectors and am concerned about being identified on social media, or by acquaintances - I'm fairly sure there'll be old contacts, people I like and who I have had time for - protesting or certainly vocally supporting the shutting down of KJK on the day. I guess I personally run the risk of being publicly 'outed' and losing friends and contacts that will have a real impact on things I do that mean a great deal to me.

Yet I feel if I don't go I will always regret not standing up and showing KJK support on my doorstep. I'm even worried about DM-ing the local Women's Rights Network as I tweet with my full name. Perhaps if anyone is on this board they can PM here, or give some info about plans for the day?

Sorry I haven't seen any threads about this LWS event so apologies if there is one already.

Wearing masks is bullshit behaviour unless you're a wean out guising

LarkLane · 14/10/2023 16:46

I didn't see any of the " we weren't there to abuse women" lot telling the testosterone brained screamers to Calm down Calm down bros.

PoseasRadicalActuallyMisogynistic · 14/10/2023 16:57

Actually it’s a shame the police aren’t trying a bit harder to identify them.
identifying frog Dylan was well worth it.
the TRAs have been getting women arrested and sacked for years

Social media is so prevalent in everyone's lives that where would you start to get legal if you were caught on multiple cameras saying you wanted to smash women's' faces in? Just don't do it, in private or in public.

I think there is a difference, though, between taking photos at a public event and then some of those people being recognised and named, which is what has happened here; and giving out someone's home address.

There is a difference, but they both fall under the umbrella term 'doxxing'.

The more it happens the more likely you are to see people turning up at events with their faces covered, especially if/when the police are given permission to use face recognition on a larger scale in the future.

It is a tenet of freedom much like free speech, that an individual should be able to keep their identity private if they so please. Doxxing people, whether they are on your side or not isn't a good thing.

I cannot imagine women ever turning up to such events wearing a face mask. The mob were filming us too.

The face masks are a pretentious nod to antifa and anti-fascists who have always worn the things. It also plays into their anti-police rhetoric. Today many of the same people, no doubt, turned up to wave Palestinian flags wearing face masks. Its the fashion.

RebelliousCow · 14/10/2023 19:54

Being in a public space, by definition, is no longer a private affair. One's home address is, though.

IwantToRetire · 14/10/2023 22:19

They call it 'doxxing' as if something sinister is going on.

I think it reveals that they know what they are doing is in fact unjustified, and they actually dont want others, eg parents, future employers know that they are acting up like spoilt school boys.

Mis labelling it "doxxing" it just their usual tactic of trying to agrandise what they are doing.

When in fact all it is a visual record of abusive behaviour.

Cowards.

That's why so many of them wear masks.
