Let Women Speak Liverpool - Sunday 8th October, 1-3pm

For a long time I have always said to myself if a LWS event came near to me, the least I could do was go along and show solidarity. Seeing what has happened elsewhere has made me so angry, it would be time to stand up and be counted.

Now there is an event next week, and I'm really surprised how nervous, even scared I am about going along just to listen, and really just wanted to reach out for advice, support, whatever.

I'm worried about the vitriol of protesters, the attitude of the police. I have worked in pretty 'captured' sectors and am concerned about being identified on social media, or by acquaintances - I'm fairly sure there'll be old contacts, people I like and who I have had time for - protesting or certainly vocally supporting the shutting down of KJK on the day. I guess I personally run the risk of being publicly 'outed' and losing friends and contacts that will have a real impact on things I do that mean a great deal to me.

Yet I feel if I don't go I will always regret not standing up and showing KJK support on my doorstep. I'm even worried about DM-ing the local Women's Rights Network as I tweet with my full name. Perhaps if anyone is on this board they can PM here, or give some info about plans for the day?

Ha ha. I've just checked trains to see if it's feasible for me to go tomorrow. It's not but if I could then the train I'd want is sold out! Maybe is chock full of the local Terf Massive.

I went to the #LetWomenSpeakGlasgow event and it was very well policed; the TRAs were kept well away to protest and us women spoke and were heard. I am travelling to Liverpool tomorrow (its my home city though I've lived in Scotland 30 years now) and am looking forward to a very special event, five years since THE billboard. I will be arriving at Lime Street in the morning, will there be any meeting points for visiting terfs? Hope so, I would love to meet up and walk down to Old Wall Arch together.

The stupidly alarmist notices from the TRAs is just them trying to inflate how awful their life is. Can you imagine the optics to passers by, male adolescents masked and wearing black, shouting at a group of women having a conversation. I do hope they will have brought enough nappies and dummies as I am sure they will all be suffering deep trauma and will need comforters.

But meantime I am sure the meeting will be great, and everyone will have a good time. And some are brave enough to speak!

I always hope there will be some sort of communal singing at the end, but cant think what song it would be.

I've really got to try and stay off social media today as it will be no good for my health. And it will be so upsetting to see people I know and like falling for this. It has got me surprisingly emotional - it is just not fair.
